The server herself was great, and the food was good. It always is. But people really don’t go here just for the food. The restaurant states window seats are not reservable. Fair enough. Totally makes sense. When they seated us, they stated that there were no more window seats available. No problem. It is what it is, right? Except we counted at least five of them clearly vacant on the way to our table (one was still sitting empty 20 minutes after we were seated). When pressed, the host said "let me see what I can do" and came back saying it’d be another hour to sit at the window, even though we were looking right at the open and "totally-not-reservable" tables right there. When we asked why there were vacant window tables we couldn’t sit in if they’re not reservable, she snidely said it’s first come first serve, and that lots of people showed up and requested tables before we did (as if we were somehow acting entitled by requesting to sit at a clearly open and supposedly unreservable table). This of course makes zero sense. If people were there before us, why weren’t they seated, and why would a table still be open 20 minutes after we were? So either they were indeed reservable; just not for everyone, or they simply didn’t want to give one to us. In any case, I guess we’re not part of the secret club. Unless you are, don’t go here expecting a fair shot at a window table.
Amazing view. Love the lamb chops and the potatoes!
Whenever I have out of town guests, business or personal, I always take them to PCG.
I have been coming to PCG for years. I'm never disappointed.
Delicious calamari and filet mignon. Servers were kind and attentive, atmosphere was lovely with an amazing view!! Would visit again 😁
Great food and great service and great atmosphere , i like the restaurant
Food was great (although I can make a steak that good in my own kitchen), view was beautiful, server was EXCELLENT. I feel bad I can't remember his name.
PCG is consistently great.
On a clear day, the food taste so much better!
Crab cakes and king salmon were spot on.
Amazing food, wonderful service and fabulous views!! Highly recommended!!
Very expensive, so only for special occasions, but the view is sublime and the staff made us feel like royalty on our anniversary.
The view was amazing, service was prompt and courteous, and all of the food was excellent. Unfortunately, the price was very high for a brunch buffet, with no apparent option to order lunch on a Sunday. Brunch for my wife and I came to $120 including a small tip. It was fun to try once, but doubt I would return at those prices.
Everything was worthy of five stars except our cocky waiter. The other staff however were very helpful!
Very good customer service! Our waitress was very kind!
It was our one year wedding anniversary. They did a great job making it special. They decorated our table and sat us at a table with an amazing view. Definitely would recommend this place for dinner.
Its a good experience if you've never been. The food it amazing, however I did feel pretty claustrophobic in restaurant. There's not much room to move and its very dark inside.
Wonderful View and Ambiance to celebrate my parents 31st wedding anniversary. They have never been to Portland City Grill and really loved the food and service. It was definitely louder than usual, but it was a Saturday evening on St. patricks day weekend so the bar was full.
Really delicious food you cannot get in many restaurants That
We came here for dinner while in Portland after finishing a conference. The views were amazing and service very on point. All the reviews I had read said this is a must visit and they weren’t wrong. Great for date night and very lovely views.
Server and kitchen were terrific - very accommodating. Disappointed with table location after making specific reservation request several weeks in advance.
Ordered the Surf and Turf (Filet Mignon and Scallops) special which was decent but at the price one pays, I was informed that it did not include a salad or soup. When entrees are close to $70 they should include a salad. Personally, I think this is and was lame. It’s not like I don’t know fine dining either (see my glowing recent review of Ox also in Portland, OR and Ariana in Bend, OR). Waiter was also kind of off putting too as he seemed kind of irritated that we weren’t drinking. He barely checked in on us... Hadn’t been to Portland City Grill in a while and probably won’t be back for a while either. Bottom line, prices are too high for the quality and frankly, the no salad w entree... maybe they know they have that view so nothing else really matters?
Great for the view but overpriced food will keep me from eating there again.
Beautiful view. Good food. Friendly, efficient staff.
It was a very comfortable nice lunch I think the only thing that was over done and I know a lot of people would appreciate it is how many times we were asked how we were doing or how was our food. I don’t mind being asked a couple times during the meal but it was like five or six times maybe even more during the meal and it was just disruptive at that point.
We were celebrating our 3 year anniversary as a couple and also getting engaged earlier that day. The duck appetizer was very good. The wagyu steak was amazing. I enjoyed both the Manhattan and old fashioned. Both the hazelnut dessert and cheesecake were divine. Thank you for the amazing date night.
Such an amazing experience! I recommend if you are visiting Portland that this is a must! From the weather, to the food, to the service, to the view everything was phenomenal!
Beautiful view and nice atmosphere. Good sushi rolls
Amazing food the waitress was really good really knew about all the food and the wines, we love the place we will go every year for our anniversary.
Amazing food, waiter, and overall experience. He has us if we were here for a special occasion and we shared that it was our anniversary. He came back with confetti for our table, and champagne. He also treated us to a special chocolate mousse after our meal. He was so attentive and great. I would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone visiting.
Our server was amazing! Very attentive. Food was delicious
wonderful meal selection, terrific 30th floor view, amazing flavor, terrific wine list
Delicious meal, beautiful view and bottomless mimosas. What more could a girl ask for on her birthday?
Super nice service, and beautiful views
Birthday dinner and it was great. My potatoes were burnt but other than that it was great.
Probably the best food we have ever had. Cody was very courteous and prompt.
Beautiful place and employees.. love the food and service.
Pre-deployment dinner with my husband and friends!
Great service, steak was a little more tough than I have experienced before but still good.
Took my wife for our anniversary and neither of us had ever been and we were very happy with everything from the time we were waiting to be seated all the way through leaving the staff couldn’t have been any nicer and the food was excellent!! It’s funny that a lot of the negative reviews are from local people, typical, well this portland couple are very pleased we went and do plan on going again soon!! Thank you for the great experience...
Only good for a cocktail at the bar and enjoy the view. Salad soggy with drenched dressing. Steak poorly cook and salmon with crab was so so fishy we couldn’t even have the plate at the table.
Maybe this was once a place to go but if you enjoy food this is not the place. If you want a tourist overview of a piece of Portland then this is nice.
