One meal was excellent. Scallops over risotto. The other 3 meals were terrible. Under cooked flavorless salmon. A steak with no taste that was as digestible as chewing gum. Very disappointing easpecially at the price point
Loved our waiter, Jason! Steered us in the right direction, menu wise. Food was tasty, the view was nice, and my nephew felt like he was at a fancy restaurant without the attitude!!! Oh, and I forgot my credit card and was IMMEDIATELY called to recover it...super awesome!
The view is amazing. The food is so-so, nothing special.
Food and service (by Danny) were top notch. Not going to 5 stars because the wine I selected, based on the year printed on the wine list, was not the year that was actually available (and yes, it made a difference in this wine). Danny recommended a great alternate wine. Another reason to keep it at 4 stars is that the Halibut special was gone by 7PM...much too early.
We had a lovely brunch for my sister in laws birthday. The food was fabulous with a large selection! The service was awesome too!
The review is based on the value. This is not a $49 buffet. If it were between $29 and $35 I would feel like it was still expensive, but reasonable. But at $49? No. Just do regular breakfast, or regular lunch.
We had a great experience! Service was fantastic and so was the food. My wife and I were celebrating our Anniversary and I hit it out of the park by choosing Portland City Grill. The location was a surprise for my wife and she was blown away with the view. We both had the Filet mignon, she had the Lobster and I had the Dungeness Crab with the steaks. The Crab was very tasty but we were amazed at the size of the Lobster, definitely the biggest I have seen at any restaurant. This was definitely the best choice for our Anniversary dinner.
Very nice and wonderful views of the city. The food was pricey and my bill was almost $250.00 for two people, so the food and drinks were overpriced for Portland, OR. I lived in Washington, DC for 23 years and I have never had a bill for $250.00 for two people. That did include an $80.00 bottle of wine so I spent $170 for two appetizer, two main course meals with no desert. That is just to much. I opened with the Crab Cakes and then ordered the Halibut. The crab cakes were small for $23.00 and Halibut was small. For that price we should have both walked out with To Go containers. I ended up being hungry later in the evening. So for overall value they get a 2. I may return for Happy Hour but not dinner.
Our waitress was awesome; very friendly and accommodating. One person's steak was overdone, but he did not complain. However, after our meal, two of us went to the outside window at an empty table to take a picture of the lights in downtown Portland. As we were taking a picture, the host said to us, "You need to move because I am seating this table". Her attitude was less than professional toward us and inappropriate as far as I am concerned due to the amount of money we had just spent in the restaurant. Then, all 3 of us ladies visited the women's restroom before leaving. The bathroom was disgusting; again, inappropriate for a restaurant of this class. There was toilet paper all over the floors and the toilet paper dispensers were empty. I went to the host to relay that the restrooms need attention and dispensers refilled. She looked at me and said, "I am the only host available at the moment and we are aware of the condition in the bathroom". Once again, not the response I would expect. I suggest staff be trained on their professionalism since they are representing a restaurant of this caliber.
Our waiter, Anthony, was excellent! Attentive, personable, made the experience.
The restaurant is on the 32nd floor The view was outstanding I had the wagu and was a little disappointed The wagu was not as tender as you would expect for wagu The rest of the meal was excellent The drinks were outstanding
Great food. Steak was cooked perfect. yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy
It was my first time and everything was amazing! Our waiter Anthony was great, everything he recommended and we tried was tasteful!
Sky was our server and she is Fabulous. I would want her again upon returning
They had ran out of the skewer appetizers, and the wait staff brought this crispy pork thing instead, with some kind of goat cheese sauce. It was amazing. I didn't notice it on the menu. Cocktail was unique and.....generous. My 15 year old had some sort of "mocktail" with berries that he said was really good. The salmon was great. The service was perfectly timed. I saw a lot of Yelp reviews complaining about dinner prices. The prices are on par for what you would expect for a higher end restaurant in a big city. Definitely on the "very special occasion" category for our family, but not at all unexpected. If you want the experience for less $, go to Happy Hour. It was Friday night, and we did notice most people did not dress for dinner, if that information is helpful.
Our waiter was great and extremely friendly. He made us feel very comfortable and because of him alone I'd definitely comeback. But apart from that the food there was very good, I got the lamb which I found outstanding and my lady got the steak which she found delicious as well. We also got a shrimp crab sushi roll and that was exquisite as well. Would definitely comeback
Wow! Fantastic dinner! One of our most memorable meals, and we have eaten at some of the top restaurants nation wide. Ingredients were exceptional, service on point, views breathtaking. Definately worth saving up for, or becoming a regular if your finances allow.
Had a wonderful anniversary dinner. The wait to get a table next to the window was 45 minutes but we enjoyed a beverage at the bar while we waited. The food was outstanding.
Portland City Grill seems to be the kind of upscale restaurant that's good for just about any occasion. I've been out with friends for happy hour, and also out on a date. And I've loved both experiences. With the incredible view, you really can't go wrong. And everything I've ordered so far has been excellent. The service is great, and the drinks are great. Highly recommend, no matter the occasion.
We spent the final evening of our OR Vacation Adventure here before browsing through Powells’s Books and dessert at Voo Doo Donuts. Food was delicious; view impressive; service perfect. We enjoyed sharing our most memorable vacation moments throughout this lovely dinner.
I think that the food was awesome, but this place was so noisy. Although it’s noisy, if you visit portland, it’s worth visiting!
Food tastes very good. Service was ok but the appetizers took awhile to come out.
Food very good. Willing to make accommodations on menu. Excellent service. Parking free for 2 hours.
An excellent choice for a great experience and very good food & service. Priced very reasonably.
Views to die for and a very decent meal with excellent service.
Great waitress; great view!
Horrible service by your hosting manager. I’d have a serious conversation with him about customer service.
We brought our friends from Virginia, for both the incredible view of Portland as well as the great food. Hubby was disappointed by the iceberg layer salad as it came with blue cheese vinaigrette instead of creamy blue cheese dressing. The rest of the food was great! I’m vegan and found plenty of choices.
We had family in town visiting and have wanted to eat at Portland City Grill for awhile but never made it happen. We decided this would be a perfect opportunity for us to entertain and FINALLY get to try this place out that we’re always hearing about. Gorgeous views, the food was excellent, bottomless mimosas were good & we liked the variety of flavors they had to choose from. Our waitress Autumn was fabulous & very accommodating, taking time to get some photos for us. Not only was she patient while waiting for the rest of our party to join us but while taking pictures for us she explained how to fix some issues we were having with our camera and suggested ways to get more familiar with it (like watching YouTube videos, etc). They cleared the dirty plates quickly, checking to make sure we were done before grabbing them, never making us feel rushed to get out of there. Seafood was fresh, candied hazelnut salad was delicious & there were many desserts to choose from. We were all very satisfied. Thank you for the excellent Sunday Brunch, our family was impressed & you helped make us look good 😉
Food wasn’t worth the price. Great service and, of course, the view is incredible but we won’t go back for brunch again.
My husband and I had the best experience here! The attention to detail was what won me over. The food was delish!!
Went on a date. Service was pretty great but the food was alright. Very pricey but great views. Next time I'm just going for drinks as they were good too!
This was our second time trying Portland city grill. It was amazing, No complaints. The first time however was a little less amazing, but we are very happy we gave them a second try. Completely different experience this time around and will be going back with out a doubt.
Portland City Grill is our go to place for special occasions, we have celebrated numerous anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, new years and valentines days there and have always enjoyed it. The ambiance is great, the service is always top notch, the food is fantastic, and while it is not cheap, i actually consider it a pretty good value all things considered compared to other top restaurants in Portland. I can't say enough good things about this place.
We celebrated our Anniversary and the table was set up just for us, with confetti and Happy Anniversary on the table. Service was excellent, food was excellent and we took home some fresh baked cookies to enjoy when we eventually had room for more food. The only difficulty was deciding what to eat with so many choices.
Visiting from Phoenix, Arizona and looking for a SPECTACULAR dining experience with a PHENOMENAL view, AWESOME food, MAGNIFICENT staff and FABULOUS ambience!!
We found it at the Phoenix City Grill!!
Very overpriced. If you go for the view be aware you may be sat in the middle of the restaurant.
The views are incredible. Our waitress was funny, attentive, and helped make our birthday celebration even more festive by adding her own birthday confetti to the table. The food was delicious and beautifully plated. The only disappointment was the dessert (definitely not their strong suit)- just order an extra app instead and skip the dessert!
Fast, friendly service. And the food was amazing. We ordered the halibut and ribeye, both perfectly prepared.
Had a great experience and the food was excellent.
