Great place to have a pleasant dinner with good food, quiet ambiance and excellent professional service. The food and drinks were explained precisely, and the recommendations were right on. The chef did a great job on cooking the code, gnocchi (the calamari .... I had better).
I will definitely return when I am in the area.
Interesting selections on the menu, good food, service and location.
Made reservation at wrong location system not easy to use
Went new years eve. Food was well prepared, good service and it was quiet as promised. Reasonably priced too
We had a pretheatre dinner and after theatre drink. The food was great. All of us enjoyed our meal. Service was great. The restaurant was busy but it is small enough that you can actually have a conversation over dinner. Close to theatres . We will be back.
Staff were ver courteous and lovely...great portion sizes...not a lot of choice on menu but what there is was delicious!!!! Quick and easy if you want a meal before theater as the parking is kitty corner to restaurant and just a 5 min walk to theater.
Great food and service with reasonable prices. A hidden gem!
Very tasty black cod. Huge salad.
Excellent service and great food at a very reasonable price.
Excellent food, good service. Small wine list.
Waiter very knowledgeable about gluten free offerings.
Located close to theatres.
Portico is our favourite place for lunch, and we have often brought visitors from out of town for a great meal, friendly service and "no noise", as well as celebrating special occasions.
Excellent food and service. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
As always, excellent good and service. Quiet atmosphere so you can actually hear the person you're with.
Excellent service! Really the service was superb. I'm personally not a fan of their new menu. The striploin/frites was excellent. The poached butter chicken was abit bland (and I'm not a fan of spice) but also a bit runny. Overall still a solid meal.
I made the reservation, received confirmation and the restaurant was closed!
Great location, food and service! We were looking for a place to eat before a show at Massey hall and this was perfect - I will be back!
The experience was definitely worth the price. The unique plates were delicious and had portion sizes that, in my opinion, we're appropriate for satisfying a three-course meal.
The food was great but service and ambience were lacking. We sat at our table and waited for drinks over 10 minutes and then had to ask for service. Wouldn't go back or recommend :(
Selected Portico based on the positive reviews and an interesting on-line menu. We were not disappointed. Menu is somewhat limited, but varied enough to suit most tastes. The soup, appetizer and mains were all delicious. We'll be back.
Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I will come back because of the service! Excellent tasty dessert as well
We were seated right away. Our server was polite, friendly and did not rush us at all...just the right level of attention. The menu is a bit limited but the dishes all sounded awesome. Our server was very knowledgeable about the ingredients. I ordered the chicken and my husband the fish and chips. My chicken was superb. Not overly spiced, and cooked to perfection. My husband liked his dish. Not loved, liked. There was no tartar sauce for the fish and he wasn't overly impressed with the coating but it was okay. The rest of his dish was good. We had a coffee each to finish up and there was a nice biscotti added to the side of our cup. A nice quiet place, great service & good food!
Excellent food and service! The portions were generous and our server Cecile could not have been more spot on with her food recommendations. We would certainly return!
Great place for our family group reunion
Great food, service and ambiance.
Looking forward to going back many times!
The food was actually amazing. And quite large portions which is becoming rare in Toronto. I believe Portico's claim of "luxurious decor" and ambiance is overstated. The decor is average. But the service was excellent in spite of our rushing to get to the theatre. The smoked salmon appetizer and lamb were absolute hits.
Our group became frustrated with the extra long wait time between ordering and receiving our drinks.
Over 45 minute wait for food and there were customers who ordered after us and received their meal first. When the meal came it was a disappointment- you could tell the fish from the fish and chips was from frozen.
Our table waited over 15 minutes to order more drinks and it took another 10 to get them.
Server forgot second beverage and had to be asked repeatedly for bill.
Overall it was mediocre service and poor food quality.
Very good food, excellent service, and a nice ambiance. Interesting menu choices.
The Groupon made this dinner a good value! I appreciate that the restaurant included all items in the 2 apps and 2 mains rather than just a selection of items.
Our server, Rene, was terrific. He said he'd been with the hotel for 18 years, and many of the employees had been there even longer. That speaks volumes for the establishment. Executive Chef Chris was generous enough to divulge his wonderful Kale Caesar Salad recipe. A lovely evening.
The service at Portico was outstanding! We will definitely dine here again if we are in the area.
We really enjoyed the corn bisque and various versions of fish for dinner...all very tasty!
Looking forward to sampling the black cod listed on your website menu once the season allows.
Our waitress was attentive and friendly. A great place to eat before the theatre.
The starter Salmon was really excellent and the mains very good too .
Food is first and the chef is doing a great job !
I am always a bit concerned about eating in a hotel as prices generally are inflated for value. However, I feel differently about Portico. We ate there on a Wednesday evening prior to going to the theatre. My friend had the salmon which was flavourful, and perfectly cooked. I had the pork loin, which was very tasty and perfectly cooked. (We skipped starters as we would be sitting in the theatre for hours.) Waiter was attentive, although dinner was slow in coming despite so few people. Ambience is relaxing but classy. Recommended.
Heading to an evening event and was looking for a restaurant in the area -- decided to try Portico as it had a varied menu and was in the neighbourhood. Unfortunately, they have changed the menu (it is much more limited than what is shown on OpenTable) and the food was quite mediocre. Wait staff was very attentive (restaurant only had 3-4 tables occupied).
Did not enjoy the food and it was expensive. Will not be returning and would not recommend.
The mushroom tagliatelle was outstanding.
nothing special or outstanding. Good regular food. Service a bit slow.Wine List needs some updating. $57 for McManis, a barely mediocre Cab Sauv, made in the tank with oakchips added, is too expensive.
Had a nice time here. The restaurant wasn't very busy, but the food was good and the service attentive. The burger I ordered was delicious, and their bread and butter selections were great.
Lovely restaurant with great service and creative delicious food.
Bravo! Simple menu, but all the dishes are excellent!
