Fantastic! Visiting for a family event and had not been back to the area in 20+ years having moved to the Chicago area. I was most pleased with everything...the food, service, and adult beverages. On par with some of the finer restaurants in Chicago!
My husband and I own a business locally in Collinsville, IL. When we have Manufacturers and visitors come to see us, we always bring them to Porters for dinner. John, who is the manager of Porters takes such good care of us. Everyone who works in Porters does an outstanding job explaining the menu and getting to know our guests. The food is outstanding. I highly recommend Porters to everyone!
We had a wonderful time dining at Porters. Our waiter Zac was extremely friendly and helped with a wine recommendation. The kitchen was backed up so our meals took a little longer to come out but Zac kept our drinks filled and helped make the experience wonderful.
Waiter provided great service. Food was excellent.
Great place. My wife’s food was great. My chicken was not great, the breading was really tuff. Very quiet and Elegant
Took the kids for the first time. They LOVED the meat and the atmosphere there is amazing.
Wife's Steak was over done and it and the baked potato was cold, My Steak was good but was almost cold barely warm, service slow. It was my Birthday diner with my wife so we had a good time and didn't say anything ate it and left.
We wanted to enjoy my wife's birthday at Porter's Friday night. It was our ''go to'' place for special occasions. We have , for years celebrated our anniversaries (last one was #52), as well as birthdays. (Friday night was my wife's 72nd). Of course on New Year's Eve, Porter's has been our dining choice. During the Christmas Season we have for several years purchased your Gift Certificates for sharing. On the last 2 visits we noticed our steaks were not in keeping with what we have grown to expect from Porters and the blaring fire alarm was an unfortunate occurrence with none of us being apprised as to what was going on. It was unsettling . My wife and I, our children and grandchildren as well as a visitor with us from Ukraine were concerned for our safety, given the worlds recent unfortunate events.
We dine at porters at least twice a year. Always a good experience, from the service we receive to the steaks we order. Always cooked the way you order them. The selection of wines they have is truly amazing.
Great food & service.
Our Waiter, Chris was very attentive to our needs and helped make it a very enjoyable dinner. The food was excellent. my wife and I both had the Pepperloin Steak and it was perfect. everything met or exceeded our expectation.
Great celebration dinner at a reputable local establishment. It's gem inside of the Doubletree. Our waiter was personable and gracious, but could've been a little more educated on the menu and taken some time to cover the specials with us. The food was prepared perfectly and was delicious. The atmosphere was quiet and intimate - ideal for connecting.
Porters did have a record of our reservation made on OpenTable. I showed the gentleman that was seating the guest on Valentine's Day our reservation and he found a table for us. I told him we have made reservations in the past without any problems. He apologized and said it was possibly a glitch in their system. My wife and I enjoyed our 46th Valentine's Day together and we really enjoyed ourselves at Porters.
Not the usual quality we are accustomed to. My steak had to go back to the kitchen due to being undercooked, leaving me to sit awkwardly while my wife ate. Both of us as well as a neighboring table had horrible baked potatoes. Cool, dry, and uncut. Food quality was poor. Normally quite good but not thus time.
Service staff tried making up for shortcomings of the kitchen
We have been there many times. The food is very good, the ambience is fine. It is expensive.
Went there for Valentines Day. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Drinks were served quickly but after that, things slowed considerably. A couple next to us got tired of waiting for their food and left. We waited another 20 minutes for ours and we were there first. The food was excellent but we felt rushed to finish and the dishes were removed as soon as we had taken our last bite, as they were presumedly in a hurry to seat other patrons. A great meal but less than great service, little warmth or cheer from the staff.
Valentine’s dinner snd everything was outstanding Greeted at the door, shown to our table immediately and well taken care of by Chris.
Salads, entree’s of Salmon and pepper loin and the side dishes and cheese cake for desert were excellent. Will be back.
We ate there on Valentine's Day. It was a very slow night for a holiday of this nature. The service was outstanding. That was the best part of our meal. My Cesar Salad had brown, bruised, unappetizing leaves. The lobster bisque was advertised as Maine lobster bisque, so you'd expect your bisque to have chunks of Maine lobster in it. This was more like a creamy tomato soup, no seafood of any kind in sight. Instead there was a puff pastry placed in the middle of the bowl. The filet mignon was ordered medium well. This thing was totally gray and dry all the way through. The asparagus was so overcooked it was wrinkled like an old hotdog, and had a very slimy texture. Maybe I'm being picky, but when you pay for a $200 dinner, I expect a bit more. Sorry for the bad review, I will not be returning. For the record the staff was wonderful.
Great service, great food. Made for a very enjoyable evening.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. I'll definitely be back.
Just a early valentines dinner John our waiter was great
My husband and I came on Christmas Eve and it was a wonderful experience. That’s why we made a reservation for my birthday with family. The restaurant was quiet with very few diners. Ambience was nice. Sadly my salmon wasn’t near as tasty as last time when we came. We had to ask for a clean container of sweetener for our tea as the one we were given had stained packets and the contents had obviously been wet. When it came time for dessert my husband asked for the chef’s seasonal special which they said they had been out of for several days. My daughter ordered cheesecake, which the menu said came with whipped cream. When it was delivered with no whipped cream she asked for some—again the waiter said they were out. Considering the amount of money we paid for our 6 dinners, it was a little disappointing.
The staff was excellent, the food superb, and we loved it!
Excellent service and the food was beyond amazing.
I have been to Porter's several times and in the past it has always been a great experience. However, this last visit I do feel the food was under prepared and the visual presentation was lacking. The pepper loin is usually amazing however it was cold and flavorless this time. As well as my side items were cold. Granted they were busy prior to our order. Although I don't think the food we receive lives up to the prices or reputation they have. Well I be back? I am sure I will. Like I mentioned normally the food is amazing however, I did not get that this last visit. I also felt a little rush. Not what you expect when celebrating a special occasion.
Not cheap but awesome steaks and service. Great for special nights out. For lighter fare try the bar tenderloin sliders are my favorite.
This was our first dining experience at Porters and it was great! We will definitely return!
The best gem on the east side
My husband wanted to go for his birthday. We have been several times before, service is always very good but I think the food is overpriced for what you get. Upcharge on fries! I had the short ribs which lacked flavor. My husband enjoyed his soup and steak.
I would not choose to visit again.
We go to Porters several times a year and are never disappointed. Great place for fine din8ng.
My steak was oveedone initially, but was quickly replaced with a fresh one done to my liking (rare). Our server, Maria, was delightful.
My ribeye was dry, and my twice baked potato was burnt.
As always, Porters didn’t disappoint! The service was amazing, and each course came out with a little break in between so that we could relax and enjoy the experience. Too many restaurants try to rush you out. We will definitely be back for another special night out!
The special requests I included with my Open Table reservation were not granted. I had request a new table, because we were being seated in a booth. We did not get our favorite server.
The food was very good. My son's steak was a bit overdone, but he said it was not dry and tasted very good anyway. Everything else was very good. The desserts were terrific. We were there to celebrate my youngest son's graduation and I felt it was a good choice. I have been there before and it is consistently very good.
Always a good dinner. Seemed like the staff were a little off their game on this night. Nothing major, just not the usual 5 star experience I usually have. I'll be back for sure. One of my favorite places to eat in the metro east.
The ladies who waited on us were perfect in all aspects of their profession. The food was good and the fries were as good or better than any I have ever had. It was a great Christmas lunch with customers.
We have made special tradition to go for Christmas get together once a year.
service was terrible waited 30 min for snails.
when served food was cold got there at 6:45 and finally served ay 8:30
I frequent this establishment often. Service was slow. I waited 50 minutes in between salad and main course. Waiter did not even wait to see if steak was cooked to order. Ordered Med. Rare received well done. Another 20 minute wait after everyone was done. Will wait a while before returning
