Porter's Prime Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Bone in rib eye at $50+ was tough and tasteless. Took (3) bites, left the entire steak. REALLY noisy and waited more than 10 minutes to be seated with no hostess in sight. Restaurant was barely 20% full. Went here with a Hollywood actor friend. Won't return.
It does not have the selection of a great steak house. The waitress had no idea what aged steak was? This is just a hotel restaurant where you can grab a very high priced bite to eat. I ordered the lamb and was pleased. My compliments to the chef. But it felt more like a cocos than a steak house. Next door was a club with blaring music every time someone went through an employee door. We could hear the music throughout the entire dinner. My suggestion, don't go out of your way. There are many other options in the area. If you're staying at the double tree, and want convenience, the rack of lamb was good. But there's nothing special about this place.
Poor service and staff not engaged. Found cheese wrapper in blue cheese mashed potatoes. When this was brought to server's attention, she argued that it was a potato skin. When I showed her the print on the wrapper, which was about an inch long, she continued to disagree with me.
Waitress was very nice room was clean and well lit
but very disappointed in the food ordered the New York strip steak expecting and large thick cut
like you find at most chop houses, this was a 3/4" thick and very bland! the Garlic mashed were ok but $8.00 for one ice cream scoop? and the asparagus $8.75 for 4 sprouts sorry just not at All what I expected! my wife had the surf & Turf ok, but again not great, the Fillet was 8oz ok, size for the steak and smothered in blue cheese on a bed of risotto with 2 shrimp scampi?? thanks for the blue cheese or the flavor would be no existent
this meal cost $112.00 plus tip and to be honest I could have done better at BJ's for 1/3rd the price! sorry just disappointed as this was for our anniversary dinner! really expected more!
We went to Porters because it was next to Mistys night club and we're celebrating a birthday. Most people enjoyed their meals and thought the steaks were par to other good steak houses. I was dissapointed in the freshness of their bread and how plain their salads were...bag like. Service was slow, the drinks were OK but we were seated quickly and managed to have a good time. The entré portion of the meal covered the entre' to the club....cool because it was fifteen dollars per person. Overall convenient not convincing.
We live in Corona and we decided to try this steak house. We had visited the hotel for an event previously and thought things looked nice. The Hotel seems to be very nice so we thought the restaurant would be nice. It's ok but the food was fair. Not what I was expecting. I usually like more lighting but that's my preference. The steak was very tender but the rest of the food was fair. For me to pay the price we did we wouldn't recommend this restaurant to our friends. Staff was courteous and responsive. Nice and quite if some one just wanted to talk over a soft drink, we can say about the drinks because we don't drink.
Had a lovely dinner with friends following a show at the convention center. My braised shortribs with parsnip puree was amazing! I had never had parsnips on their own and this was preparation was a revelation. The entire dinner was delicious and service was outstanding.
Thought we would try the steak house, it is a nice place. Kind of quiet for a Friday night, but there was a prize fight in the convention center. Food was good and reasonably priced. We had the chef's special, including salad and dessert. Live music next door and seemed to be popular. Great service, friendly and quick.
We were celebrating our 30 year anniversary and was the place we got engaged. They were very helpful and made sure we had the same booth, they had it ready to go. Service was attentive and good food was good had the Double Lamb Chops my wife had flat Iron stake and Crab Cakes all was good. They went out of there way to make the evening special.
Will go back
When you have to go to a convention at Ontario or are staying near the airport, this is a great find for an otherwise bleak area for food. And especially for a hotel restaurant, I gave it 4-5 starts. It's not a destination restaurant but for business travel or staying the night before an early flight it is a great find. Good food, service has been great the two times I've been there. The wine list is surprisingly good for a hotel. And half the fun is watching the older old fashion disco scene happening in the bar next door. I like to get a table to watch the outfits and people going in.
The service was superb. The foods came in a timely manner. The filet mignon was delicious. I really enjoyed it. It was cooked just right to my liking. The dinner rolls were amazing. I have tried the roasted duck and pork chops. Overall, the foods were well presented. The best was the steak. I will come back again to try other dishes.
Arrived and seated promptly at booth by bar. After 10-15 minutes bar tender noticed no service and got our drink order. 5 minutes after she brought the drinks, she noticed still no service, so she took our dinner order. We got the Valentines Special- salad, entre and special dessert. Salad brought out by bus boy. 3 minutes later our entres arrives by another bus boy even though we are 1/2 done with salad. We had to catch workers walking by to ask for our dessert and bill. Decided to go out on the 13th to get better service- lol!
Never met our waiter, wow!
Don't take a chance- never eat there!
This was better than expected. The cocktails were excellent as well. Pprtions were perfect. Favor was culinary, enjoyed combined favors. filet was cooked to my order and scampi was delicious. Salad and lobster bisque was good too. I would recommend it , great favors.
The two steaks that we ordered were good quality and very tender. The drinks that we ordered were spot on and just the correct ratio of liquor and mixer. As stated above, Joe made sure we had a great dining experience was one of the most attentive waiters I have ever had, anywhere. I have worked in the restaurant industry as well, and he was great.
Nice atmosphere and were greeted and seated right away. Given menus and asked for a wine list. Found we needed to wait a bit most of the night. Started with the calamari that had some veggies along side, very nice touch. We met the chef who tried to pick out what we were each in the mood for, he did quite well and it was fun interacting with him. The steaks were good but they over cooked mine and needed to send back. Had finished the rest of my plate by time server came back to ask how the meal was, again it was a long wait and they were not that busy. Finished off with the chocolate volcano cake which was wonderful.
Being Porters, we have enjoyed Porters Steak House since my husband discovered it about a decade or more ago. On our first trip there to celebrate an anniversary, when we both had a better income, we split a Porterhouse steak, and it was very good. Our second trip, for another anniversary, we celebrated with several members of my husband's family and not wanting to put them in the poor house, we ordered turkey burgers, which were very good. The reason for our most recent trip? My parents were in Ontario, and they love good restaurants, but weren't familiar with the area. So we of course suggested Porters. Our most recent visit was perhaps the best. it was a Friday so we all had prime rib. It was cooked just right. The wines my father chose were wonderful. A few substitutions on the side dishes were graciously accommodated. The staff even set up a table for us and said nothing while we stood in the aisle of the restaurant for 10 minutes and talked to some friends who were just finishing up their meal instead of waiting for our own seats. We can't afford to make Porters a habit, but will be back when we can come. Our waiter Joe was very friendly and smart.
We heard Porters had a really good steak and as we enjoy good steaks we wanted to try it out. With a party of 7 on a weekend at 6, we had a nice table in the back. We ordered different items. The lamb was very nicely done, seared and seasoned, and juicy. The steaks were unremarkable, however, and quite bland. Other ordered items were ok, the chicken soup, scallops, and beet salad (that had very few beets), but not up to the price we paid. After our first round of drinks, the server never asked again if we wanted additional wine; we needed to go to the bar to get refills. The server apologized at the end of the meal, but again, for the price, we thought it would be better attended.
We enjoyed the quiet -- the room was about 1/3 full- and so it was easy to have a conversation without straining. We'd go back, but perhaps just for lunch if the prices were lower.
