About Porters on the Lane
Porters on the Lane features an American menu. Highlighting steaks and seafood. Served in casual atmosphere with a choice of dining areas & menu options for any palette. There are four dining areas to choose from as well as the bar - The main dining room is spacious with navy & white decor located at the front of the restaurant with windows overlooking the porch & Bellport lane. Then we have the fireplace room which is located in the back of the restaurant, this quaint room has beautiful ivory tin walls & ceilings. A working stone fireplace from floor to ceiling which always makes this room popular in the winter or for private parties! We also have seating in the bar section at high top tables. Then the last option is the front porch which is open seasonally & weather permitting. This is a beautiful space for outdoor dining & certainly the most requested area when available.

Porters on the Lane Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I love the food at porters braised short ribs is always my go to dish it never disappoints my wife had the truffle ravioli she said it was very good only issue we had which never happens is we felt very rushed we barely finished our appetizers and the waiter was already removing our dishes and putting our main course down other then that I have no complaints
I don't know what else I can say considering I've reviewed the place well over 50 times at this point. I've eaten the menu and there isn't a bad thing on there....just go, order something, sit outside on the patio (weather permitting), and enjoy! No matter what you have, it's going to be great!
When ever I am in town I usually eat at Porters at least once. This time, we sat in the “quieter” dining area with the fireplace which wasn’t lit and apparently not ready for the season yet. So it was drafty there and the evening is chilly as soon as the sun sets in October. . It’s also located by the end of the bar which can be VERY noisy. My friend and I wanted to try a couple of small bites so we split a crab cake which was yummy. The featured burratta with pancetta was also good but we only received 1 crostini slice.. weird but there was bread on the table so we improvised. The featured butternut squash soup is always an outstanding choice. The sea scallops on risotto, which I’ve had before, were too salty and the risotto was not creamy enough. The portion of risotto was huge so I don’t know if they served a lot to make up for the olack of other things about the dish or what. We each ordered double vodkas, mine with soda which was ok and hers with tonic which she claimed had no alcohol and received no buzz. At $12.50 a drink, you should feel SOMETHING, right? All in all, the menu hasn’t changed much over the years but the location is sweet, the service is excellent, stick to the main dining room if you’d like to hear the table conversation, order beer or wine to keep The Damages within reason and next time my dinner might be appetizers and soup.
One of the noisiest places we've ever been in, bar none. Needs rugs and wall coverings to make it quieter desperately. On a positive note, our waitress responded quickly to our request to move. Even after the move, place was still noisey. Food average and there may have been some good specials but couldnt hear the waitress.
Food great. Too noisy, and too many little children seated by those of us who don't appreciate spending $100.00 plus for a lovely dinner having to have the evening spoiled by badly behaved children. We were surrounded by little ones; thought it was McDonalds.
A new find for us...just moved to the area and are getting trying out local restaurants.
This one is a keeper. We will def. be back for other items on the menu that sounded delish.
I enjoyed a lobster meat cocktail for an app. so fresh ... and the flank steak, which was more like a filet mignon, with shoe string fried onions. My husband had the baked clams and thought they were the best he has ever had... lobster Mac and Cheese. Out of this world...
Staff was profesional, service was great and food presentation was spot on...Drinks made well as well...Desert was a special and was ok...wouldn't order it again. Shouldn't have it anyway...
Quaint and charming ... GO!
Went to this Restaurant after seeing a play at the Gateway Playhouse in Bellport, LI. Great choices to eat. Try the Filet Mignon tidbits with the Gorgonzola Fondue, excellent. Short ribs were great. Also the French roasted chicken. Vanilla Creme Brulee for dessert. Would recommend this restaurant and would go again.
Just a great place! Delicious food, yummy drinks, wonderful ambiance. All servers are so friendly and seem to really care that customers have a great experience. There's nothing better than having dinner on the porch on a summer evening while watching the sun set. Would highly recommend Porters to everyone.......and I have!
I have been going to Porters for years and enjoy especially sitting outside on the terrace looking out to this charming village
The other night had the best lobster and tuna tacos.
Usually it's a very friendly crowd but the last night we were there the rudest people were all around us being rude to the staff The owner did the most amazing job protecting his staff especially our sweet waiter Eric and that night especially
Porter's is the kind of restaurant that can host an everyday lunch/dinner or a special occasion. In this case, an everyday dinner in between late meetings at work. We each ordered the Market Greens salad. Fresh ingredients, well blended with a light dressing. The American Dip sandwich with a side of House Cut fries for her and the Flatiron Steak with red wine reduction and sauteed string beans for me. Everything prepared to perfection and full of flavor. It was too warm for New England Clam Chowder so I'll be going back for that next time.
This was our first visit to Porters and we were completely satisfied with every facet of the dining experience. The main dining area is tastefully decorated in a nautical theme. The service staff was attentive and helpful. The food was prepared well and tasted great. They have a huge selection of wines and beers.
