Porters on the Lane Ratings and Reviews
A very comfortable neighborhood restaurant. Definitely ask for the room with the fireplace, it's a little quieter than the main part of the establishment. Solid menu, fresh salads, excellent soups & fresh oysters, Steaks were prepared just right and very ample and tasty. asparagus cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and ample, but we were talking a lot - probably didn't want to disturb us too much. Would definitely return and it's worth the drive if you come from within a hour of the place.
We went here for an impromptu New Years Eve early dinner. Unbeknownst to us, they had a prix fixe menu for the evening which we thought, at first glance, was pricey. However, when we saw all that it included and the choice of an appetizer, salad, entree, and dessert, it was actually an amazing value. I had delicious twin lobster tails and my husband had surf and turf (lobster tail and filet mignon). Everything was absolutely delicious and we couldn't have had a nicer dining experience. Thank you Porters!
We've been to Porter's several times now and the food is consistently good. Always a lively crowd, it can get a bit noisy as there is a lively crowd at the bar, but never unruly. I love their use of truffle in some of their menu items. Surprised that the steak did not come with a potato or veggie at that price point. Always friendly staff.
service was not very good and I ordered a crab cake that was lathered in some type of sauce which really masked the crabmeat-I probably should have sent it back. Waitress failed to check back at the table to clear or offer additional drinks in a timely manner. I've been to porters many times--usually for dinner--and it's always been much better than this time (which is too bad because it was a bridal shower). Christmas decorations ere very pretty and the fireplace was nice.
Was at Porters last night to find I was sitting next to a very rude and snobbish couple.. we watched and heard them belittle every one on the staff. when a manager came over (very sweet young lady) they verbally assaulted her because a busser cleared a plate that literally had a tiny tiny pc of bread on it.. the complaint was that there are starving children in Africa.. was nice to see the owner come out and defend his staff and escort these jerks out. which brings me to my point the staff is always great here,., friendly and happy and this is why. they are a family.. a team food speaks for itself.. always outstanding in every way
My husband and I went to Porters before the show at the Gateway - The food was good although a little pricey. The waiters and waitresses were friendly and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was comfortable and we enjoyed being there, we would definitely go again.
My wife and I love the food at porters braised short ribs is always my go to dish it never disappoints my wife had the truffle ravioli she said it was very good only issue we had which never happens is we felt very rushed we barely finished our appetizers and the waiter was already removing our dishes and putting our main course down other then that I have no complaints
I don't know what else I can say considering I've reviewed the place well over 50 times at this point. I've eaten the menu and there isn't a bad thing on there....just go, order something, sit outside on the patio (weather permitting), and enjoy! No matter what you have, it's going to be great!
When ever I am in town I usually eat at Porters at least once. This time, we sat in the “quieter” dining area with the fireplace which wasn’t lit and apparently not ready for the season yet. So it was drafty there and the evening is chilly as soon as the sun sets in October. . It’s also located by the end of the bar which can be VERY noisy. My friend and I wanted to try a couple of small bites so we split a crab cake which was yummy. The featured burratta with pancetta was also good but we only received 1 crostini slice.. weird but there was bread on the table so we improvised. The featured butternut squash soup is always an outstanding choice. The sea scallops on risotto, which I’ve had before, were too salty and the risotto was not creamy enough. The portion of risotto was huge so I don’t know if they served a lot to make up for the olack of other things about the dish or what. We each ordered double vodkas, mine with soda which was ok and hers with tonic which she claimed had no alcohol and received no buzz. At $12.50 a drink, you should feel SOMETHING, right? All in all, the menu hasn’t changed much over the years but the location is sweet, the service is excellent, stick to the main dining room if you’d like to hear the table conversation, order beer or wine to keep The Damages within reason and next time my dinner might be appetizers and soup.
One of the noisiest places we've ever been in, bar none. Needs rugs and wall coverings to make it quieter desperately. On a positive note, our waitress responded quickly to our request to move. Even after the move, place was still noisey. Food average and there may have been some good specials but couldnt hear the waitress.
Food great. Too noisy, and too many little children seated by those of us who don't appreciate spending $100.00 plus for a lovely dinner having to have the evening spoiled by badly behaved children. We were surrounded by little ones; thought it was McDonalds.
