Porterhouse Steak and Seafood - Lakeville Ratings and Reviews
Always a good experience, we enjoy visiting the Porter House. Service is great. Attentive but not obtrusive. Food is solid and well prepared. This time my steak was not done properly but that is rare for this place. For this part of the metro, Porter House is your best bet.
We had another wonderful experience at Porterhouse. This is our celebration place, and we celebrated a birthday there. The food was outstanding, service was wonderful and we enjoyed ourselves. My wide likes her steak well done with no pink and Porthouse chefs have a long tradition of making her happy, but last night was one of the few occasions we I had to ask for her steak to be sent back.
We enjoyed our bithday celebrations...not hurried...food prepared and served to order...waitperson caitlyn should be commended...professional AND personable...answered all questions intelligently and served a complimentary dessert with warmth and a smile...we have celebrated many occassions over the years and one constant is QUALITY from top to bottom
We stopped in on our way from the Twin Cities to Faribault for the weekend. Fortunately I nabbed a reservation at 5:15, as nothing else was available until 9:30.
The stand-alone building kind of reminds one of an Applebee's outside a mall, but with a nicer exterior and adequate parking around the entire building. The interior certainly reminds you of a classic steakhouse, but a bit more tastefully modern. The bar area is on the right as you enter, and while they do not have happy hour specials, their drink pricing is slightly below what you find in the Cities. I did take advantage of a Prisoner Wine Company special, partaking of a glass of The Prisoner namesake for $19. My date decided on a Chocotini made with clear liqueurs, with two full glasses (the second served in the shaker) for only $10!
We moved to the dining room for dinner. I ordered the 18-oz ribeye, which was a bit rare for my tastes but very nice. My date had a Barramundi special which was prepared very nicely with a lemon aioli sauce. Sides are a la carte beyond the first potato or veggie. My baked potato was great, and we split a half-head of broccoli as our veggie.
Service was very well done, from the hostess to the bartenders, to the waitress and servers. Clearly the staff is well-trained and has been there a while. Our waitress took a lot of time to get to know us.
There aren't too many mid-to-high scale restaurants south of Bloomington, so take advantage of the cuisine and service on your way south.
Our server Amber was fantastic. Very friendly and paced the meal perfectly. The food was amazing. I couldn't eat it fast enough. My only complaint is I feel like the ambience of the restaurant could be a bit better. This however is a minor complaint due to the very high quality and service. We love this place and will be back.
This was our Anniversary. We like the Porterhouse and always go there for special occasions. But I have to say, William, our server was excellent and the Black-n-Blue Ribeye Steak was the best I have had in a long time. The vegetable was very fresh and the baked potato was done to a turn. William brought us a complementary Cremeburla and we ordered coffee black, which was the freshest and best coffee I remember having in many years. You can't go wrong at the Porterhouse.
The only steak restaurant that really cooks the steak as described by a waitress is Manny's. In a good restaurant, if I ordered medium, that's what I'd get. I wrongly assumed they'd "get it" at Porterhouse. Just the same, I asked for a steak done closer to medium well. It was rare. I didn't bother to send it back for more cooking because it had blue cheese smothered on it--they'd have to scrape it off, etc. It was fatty int he center as well. If you're going to spend $39 on the steak alone, you might as well spend $60 and go to Manny's.
Many time customer first time not to tall enamored. Steaks were not cooked how ordered. Son and his girlfriend got married kind of celebration - thought they would at least been offered a piece of cake on the house for the occasion seeing our bill was over $200 but nothing.
A petit filet to die for!! The décor is simple, the menu is upscale and the food is excellent. We traditionally visit for a birthday, but don't tell the waiter or you'll receive a complimentary cake with all the fanfare.
I'd say we'll be going again, but that would be repeating myself
I was expecting the prices as everyone said it was a spendy place, but was floored by the GLASS of wine at $17 each... That wasn't called for. It was nice but I can't see going back. Food is good, but can find good food lots if places. The people though, they were top notch. Excellent service and overall customer service.
The steak was great! It was cooked perfectly. Also, I have special dietary needs, and the waitress was very helpful with making sure that I got the necessary food. I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, too. It had a warm and cozy feel while still being nice.
My husband and I joined friends to dine at Porterhouse. Three out of the four of us ordered streak, done to perfection. The New York Strip is 2nd to the hanger steak for our favorite cut meat. It was flavorful with a great sear on the meat. My friend who is a vegetarian ordered a stir fry of veggies which was not on the menu but they prepared it just for her. They were excellent. To end our time our server brought out a dessert for each of us complimentary as we were celebrating our birthdays. The crème brulee was one of the best I have had! Our server continued to take care of us well beyond our meal, refilling our waters and checking in with us. I would highly recommend Porterhouse for a pleasant dinning experience.
Great place to go for date night or to celebrate! The crab legs and ribeye were delicious! Loved the ambiance. It was a little noisy but all good noise, everyone enjoying themselves and it was very busy. The service could have been better, a little slow and inattentive.
Our visit was wonderful. We were there for our 12yr anniversary on a night just us, without the kids (we have 7). Our server and the staff all congratulated us on our anniversary and we felt well taken care of. We were called away due to a sick child and had to take our main meal with us. It would have been so much better fresh. Maybe next year :(. Will go here again!
We eat at Porthouse regularly because it’s close and the food is decent. We met friends there at 7 pm on a Sunday night. Made reservations because always crowded. Well, it was particularly noisy and non conversation friendly that night. There was a big family group including toddlers seated in the middle of the restaurant. They lingered after eating and after they left the table, they stood next to us like it was a cocktail party. Not a good atmosphere if you want to enjoy a pricey meal. Also, I have pointed out in prior reviews that the servers pace poorly. Almost always bring main courses when still eating first course. Hello—that makes diners feel rushed and the clutter of dishes on the table is annoying. Lastly, I wish they would trim the LONG stems off the spinach in their salad. Can’t eat it without cutting the whole salad up! For these prices, the kitchen can do better.
