Porter House Bistro - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Our server was ok, just not attentive to drink refills and making sure we were ok with the 45 minute delay on our meal.
During our meal, neighboring patrons asked for a manager to discus there meal. They explained that their duck was undercooked. The chef exclaimed that "you are the type of people that can't be pleased." Then regrettably reduced their meal after belittling his customers opinion of the restaurants food. This is unacceptable. I would NOT recommend this restaurant.
Went for Brunch on a Sunday and was fortunate enough to miss the rush. Great ambiance, very laid back feel. Food was delicious and server was attentive but not overbearing. Prices were comparable to East Nashville, not too terribly inflated. Would definitely recommend this place.
We ate Christmas dinner here, it was one of the last places that still had an open reservation and it was close. We really were not expecting very much but were pleasantly surprised by how well prepared and delicious everything was. I had the beef wellington; perfectly cooked to med-rare, best cut of meat I have had in a long time, absolutely melt in your mouth good. My wife's seafood risoto was good if not exceptional and enormous, could easily be shared.
We LOVE Porter House Bistro. It is a very reasonably priced place, intimate, service is always a nice mix of formal and casual, and the food is outstanding. So many restaurants we've been to lately overdo their food: multiple ingredients, far too many spices etc. At Porter House Bistro, the food is plain in the best possible way, simply done, and allowed to shine all on its own. This is a great spot for date night, brunch, after work drinks, really anything. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner here, and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you Porter House Bistro!
I've been to Porter House Bistro many times over the last year. Overall pleased with my past visits, PHB proved perfect for my family's late brunch this Christmas Eve. We were seated promptly, the food was perfectly cooked, and staff was friendly. Will be back many times in the future I'm sure.
There are not enough places like this in Nashville- it felt more like New Orleans or New York.
The food was tremendous with portions being plentiful and prices being fair. I would love to see a spot like this in West Nashville.
Kudos to the owners - you have a winner!
This is our 3rd time visiting Porter House Bitsto. Twice for dinner, once for brunch. Every time has been great! The cocktails are amazing. I highly recommend the risotto dish for dinner. We had eggs Benedict for brunch and it was delicious! The wait staff is always very attentive and polite. We'll be back many more times!
Parents were in from out of town and decided to do a last minute brunch. Our server Jay was great. Attentive but not overbearing and he made great recommendations. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the food but the crab and shrimp benedict was the winner. I'll be back!
We got same-day reservations at Porter House Bistro. What a great find! It's a bit out of the way in East Nashville, and it wasn't real clear where to park (we parked on the street.) Inside, it was lovely. Very quiet, good bar, wonderful menu -- and the prices were reasonable. We had the pate as an opener, lamb chops, steak au poivre and small salad to share. They had a Cotes du Rhone special (yay!) and a nice selection of bottled beers. Wonderful service, just attentive enough. We'll be back.
This was our first time in Nashville and we didn't have any knowledge of the local restaurant scene. Took a chance on this out of the way little place, totally based on it's menu. The French flavors were excellent! We were not disappointed. Food was excellent. portions were perfect. Service was super attentive. Enjoyed our meal - Thank you!
We had the quiche as an appetizer and it was outstanding! If we go again, that's what I'll be getting as my meal! We also ordered the salmon as an appetizer and it was good, but nothing special, which is also how I felt about my meal, the croquet madame. It was much more bread than anything else. My husband ordered the French toast, which he loved, but it was too mushy for me.
We were excited to try this one out on our visit to Nashville. Portion size was good, but every entree desperately needed more gravy/sauce - the special (Coq Au Vin, which infrequently make at home, was almost completely dry even though it was served over potato was), the wedge salad while incredibly fresh barely had any dressing over it, the lemon chicken didn't taste like too much and needed a pan gravy over it... The lamb chops were fantastic though. Make sure you grab some ice cream at Jeni's after dinner!
Food was excellent. Our enjoyed the strip steak, pork medallions, and risotto. Flavors and temps were very good. Scalloped potatoes with the pork were the best of our sides! Bread before the meal was fresh and delicious. Drinks were very good too. We highly recommend The Bistro and will return next time we are in Nashville.
We were on vacation and wanted to try a local restaurant. It was one of the best meals we have ever had. My husband had a pork tenderloin, green beans and augratin potatoes. I had a tilapia, roasted potatoes and zuchini. When back in Nasville we will make sure to eat there again.
We were very disappointed as it got a 5 star review and none of us felt it was worth that review. Maybe we are foodies but we all had lamb chops and they were crusted with panko bread crumbs which had lots of spices on them and they definitely took away from the taste of the chops. Our server was delightful (Leah) but the food not as good as we thought it would be. And the bread they make themselves, a bigger disappointment. I make better bread. Sorry, there must be better choices in Nashville.
I heart Porter House Bistro! While our second time was not as good as the first, this was solely due to the server. The food was impeccable, the host was very sweet, and the chef was superb and amicable; sadly, the server was lacking. She made a point to say she doesn't work nights, was very slow and we had to ask for things multiple times.
The chef makes a point to come to every table and talk about your experience to ensure his product met your wishes. He genuinely cares about your dining experience as he has a true love for what he does - and it shows.
We will definitely be back and are excited to see what is on their new menu!
I'd been wanting to try this place for a while, which is why I was particularly disappointed. The frites in my steak frites were great, but the steak itself was cut too thick, it was cooked medium-well when I'd ordered medium-rare, and the sauce was was bland. My friend ordered a fish that came on a bed of white rice with 3 pieces of zucchini to the side. It looked like something you'd order at a diner, but it cost $24. The server was very nice but wasn't very familiar with the wine list and didn't know what kind of fish a grouper was. At the prices they charge, they need to up their game. There are too many much finer restaurants nearby.
I like Porter House Bistro because it's simple, unpretentious and quiet. The selection is limited, but the chef who prepares your dinner many times will come out of the kitchen just to serve it to you, get your feedback and thank you for coming in. I like that. The service isn't bad, but few eating establishments in E. Nashville have great service, so I'll gladly trade the false sense of pretentiousness I find in most E. Nasty establishments for the simple, occasional forgetfulness of my server. I just smile & say thank you. Cloth napkins, clean dishes and silver are always a big plus for me. I've never had a bad entre' or a bad experience at Porter Road Bistro. My beautiful bride and I go there quite often. It's one of the few places we can have a gentle conversation at a normal voice levels. Thanks for reading this and please support this little jewel in E. Nasty. Porter Road Bistro!!
