Porter & Luke's
We had a 9:30 reservation, we arrived at 9:35. The restaurant had booking listed until 10. Upon arrival, they told us they decided to close down the kitchen early and would not seat us, despite reserving the table an hour prior. By the time we left there and found another place, it was after 10 and the restaurants were all closed. We had an hour drive home w nothing to eat due to their poor service and management.
Fries were not good at all, catfish was not fried completely and food was basically cold. But our waiter was really good and attentive
We enjoyed our meal here. There were 4 of us and 2 got the same thing, puppy drum special. The ingredients were fresh and tasted good. I liked the salad. It was a nice new years eve lunch.
We live in the neighborhood and go often. Food is always very good, Prices are reasonable. Staff are very helpful and pleasant. They can accommodate large or small groups.
I had lunch with friends, we ordered the triple wedge salad. It was scrumptious. Our waitress was excellent.
In town for an early flight out of MSY and found this neighborhood gem by luck. Don’t let the strip mall location or plain interior fool you. Great big bar with stiff drinks and some of the best fried seafood I’ve had in a long time.
Food and service is always great. Love their soft shell crabs. I eat in the bar when I’m alone and it’s very comfortable for a woman on her own
We were quite disappointed. They restaurant was pretty empty but they were out of the special soup. The turtle soup which we offered instead was not good.
It is certainly true that the portions at Porter and Luke are very generous. The food, though was average at best. An order of fried eggplant was huge and tasty, although a bit over breaded. Over breading was also a feature of my catfish special. Is came with a side of green beans that probably were canned. My wife’s veal Parm was tough our server seemed anxious to remove plates and bring the check before we were finished eating. There is much better “Nwe Orleans” food to be had elsewhere.
This was a perfect setting for a few couples looking for traditional local dishes, in Metairie, dressy casual, quiet and never rushed.
So many other dinner restaurants don’t have parking, get so weird with their entrees, and/or have noise levels that aren’t conducive to conversations. Cocktails and service were great, too
Excellent menu selections and specials for this neighborhood gem.
Food was just OK - need to improve on service - too much noise - need to improve - we will try one more time
The food was good New Orleans cuisine. Excellent turtle soup, and the crawfish Vincent was delicious. The fried green tomatoes were also good with nice boiled shrimp on top.
The noise interfered with the experience as several large noisy parties were present.
The service was good. It is not a fancy restaurant but serves good food in a neighborhood location that is convenient.
Maddie, our server was excellent. Very responsive and helpful.
Food was amazing. Fine example of NOLA cuisine.
Food is always delicious. But they couldn’t find my reservation through opentable do I sure hope I got my points.
Terrific food & service as always!
Family reunion was an impromptu event but went on without a hitch thanks to everyone at Porter and Luke’s. Enjoyed by all. Thanks to the entire staff and management
Always a wonderful experience at Porter & Luke's. Go to restaurant for good food in Metairie.
We actually had reservations to eat at a different restaurant and those plans fell through. We were close to Porter and Luke’s so we decided to give it a try. Glad the other plans fell through because we thoroughly enjoyed Porter and Luke’s. I would highly recommend this to anyone. It’s a great restaurant, family friendly and the food is amazing
A dreadful experience. The only no- fried fish entre on the menu they were out of. That necessitated my dining partner to order a shrimp and pasta dish that was all pasta drowning in sauce with few very small shrimp. My thick as paste reconstituted slimy gumbo was served nearly room temperature and had to be sent back. My $16 salad consisted of 3 shrimp and a tablespoon of crab over a bed of prepackaged salad mix with an insufficient amount of dressing. Took forever to get more dressing. Wish I hadn't even eaten!
Fantastic service, food and semi-private dining area! Amber was perfect!
Real good selection & all 4 in our party enjoyed our appetizer, entrees & read pudding real good. My desert , doberge cake, was poor! Waiter was not attentive & poor follow-up. Place was not real crowded but maybe a shortage of waiters/waitresses.
Tri Wedge Salad...excellent as always!
we had Porter and Luke or Drago's. My friend highly recommend P&L we were sadly disappointed with the food. We had the rice and beans with the hamshank. Rice and Beans were better at Popeye's which says a lot the ham shank was dry, the fried green tomatoes Im sorry but I can make better at home:( the turtle soup was a total fail so so salty. The whoe experience was not up to par. The saving grace was our server she was excellent.
In hindsight we should have gone to Drago's.
They accommodated our addition - party of 11 went to 14. They were very busy, service was great. Food took a while since there was a big private party, but all was good!
Everyone’s food was great but the service absolutely sucked today. No fault of our waiter Connor but the kitchen. Took us almost 2 hours for lunch for 4 today. Sat promptly, ordered promptly but food took way over an hour to come out to our table. 2 red bean dishes, 2 house specials. Not acceptable. Also hostess said she didn’t have our open table reservation but still sat us...
Everything was excellent!!! Our waiter Connor was the best and very attentive. Hubby had oyster bordelaise and I had seafood gumbo and the trio salad which was to die for. Only down side was the noise level coming from the bar at 7:30pm was too excessive preventing any table convo. Which was unpleasant when on a date to celebrate anniversary weekend kick off.
Have been to the restaurant many times and have always enjoyed the food and everything about it. I would go there any time. The help is polite and helpful.
The food was acceptable but the service was a train wreck. There was a big party in the back room (tour bus) and only a handful of waiters and waitresses. Five of us were at the table. Three of us got our meal and we were already done when the other two were served. Waitress comped us a dessert and said she'd discount the two late meals. Check arrives and no discounts. It was settled once we got the manager involved. If you can't handle big groups then don't accept them!
Not what we expected. No bread served, had to ask for water, served my dinner while I was eating appetizer.
Very good friendly, service. Crab dip , and gumbo were excellent!
Each time I come the service is great, the staff friendly and the food fantastic! Reasonably priced, nice meal. Casual elegance.
There were two employees screaming and yelling at each the entire time we were there. I’ve never heard that many F,MF, And S words in my life. It was very unprofessional. It didn’t seem to phase the other employees. It’s good that it was slow that night. .
Little disappointed. Went for Valentines Day, and was told management would not let us eat at a table for 4. There was a wall with tables for parties of two. The person next to me was an arms length away. Not very romantic when you hear the conversation on both sides of you. We ate early enough that there was lots of tables available when we got there and when we left. It looked like their regular customers had first preference.
The food was mediocre, they were also out of half of what we wanted to order.
But on a good note, our waiter was very friendly.
My two sisters and I went for lunch earlier this week. We loved the menu so much we decided to order 3 different things and share. Fried chicken livers, fried green tomatoes and the Eggplant Vincent. Everything was absolutely delicious. If I have one recommendation, the pasta was not warm enough but it was wonderful and cooked perfectly.
Below average dinner. Terrible seafood gumbo, counted one shrimp in the whole large bowl that was ordered. Lima beans w/ chicken livers was awful. The chicken livers were burned to a crisp. Only favorable review: the waiter. He was very attentive and did his best to make the best out of a terrible meal. This was my second time at Porter & Luke’s. After the first time, I decided I would not return. I did change my mind because a friend insisted... sorry I listened.
Just a average dinner. The egg plant appetizer was great and was the only plus of the evening . The Crab Ponchartrain was over cooked. It was Fried to an overdone crisp.
Service was good / got the Steak, the cut was (terrible) not cooked well.
I give a lot of credit to Management, they did make it right, by Comping the Steak......
Can’t say I would return......
the restaurant was extremely noisy. There was a large table of noisy people seated next to us. They left and were replaced by another noisy group. When we sat down, a waiter was having a loud conversation with another couple seated near us. When we left, my husband said now I've done that. The food was good.
