Porter & Luke's
hot blue crab dip
fresh louisiana crabmeat baked in a decadent parmesan cream served with warm crostinis
louisiana shrimp served over mixed greens with our homemade remoulade sauce
half fried chicken
chef's almost famous fried chicken! served with french fries or potato du jour
Food was excellent. Service was horrible. Not sure if waitress was new or just overwhelmed but it was very bad even if you factor in the current labor shortage.
She did not check on us for over 40 minutes. Food was brought to us by a server. She even ignored multiple attempts to flag her down. We were not in a hurry and we had been very polite and did nothing to cause bad service.
It took us finding a manager before she came back to the table.
It is worth mentioning that the manager was very polite and proactive. Service was fine from that point forward.
It was OK, nothing we would go back for. Very crowded and there was a wedding party in the back room and people were going in and out a lot passed our table. There should be another entrance to that back room so that 50+ people don't come walking through the middle on the restaurant.
always good. always consistent.
Birthday for my dad - great food and service
The restaurant is being remodeled but this didn’t have a significant impact on our dining experience. Service was good but the food was meh…the redfish and cobia that we ordered were nicely seasoned and prepared, but the cobia wasn’t served with the tomato/mushroom/white wine sauce that was advertised. The asparagus was mushy and the potatoes were just deep fried potato cubes.
Porter and Luke’s never was a great restaurant but they seem to get a little worse every time we go. Last time for us.
It's always good! My favorite is the softshell crab special...awesome! I've never had a bad meal.
Service was great, our waiter was excellent and personable. The restaurant has a neighborhood feel. Appetizers were good, entrees were just ok. A little overpriced for what you get, but overall a good restaurant.
Fish not cooked but told it was the “blood line”. I am not interested in seeing fish blood. Sent it back. Then grouper arrived uncooked. Despite reservation we were seated in back room at a small table with large groups which was noisy. Had to ask for silverware, salt and pepper. The entire meal should have been comped.
Very disappointed this time. We went for the first time a couple of months ago, and LOVED it. The service and the food was fantastic, and we couldn’t wait to come back. We raved to family and friends, and finally came back with some friends… and well… we were embarrassed to have raved so much.
After being seated, we waited probably 10 minutes before a server even came to get our drink order. Then once we ordered, he brought out our appetizer without any small plates for the table to share. When our food arrived, he had put in the wrong meal, so my food didn’t come out correctly. When I did get it, it was so bland. I had the soft shell ponchartrain, and it had no flavor. My had the eggplant Sophie, and hers had no flavor either. We had to cover it in salt and pepper. Our friends had the eggplant parm and the chicken parm, and while theirs had flavor, it was cold.
This went from being what we thought would be our new go-to restaurant in the city, to somewhere that I have no desire to return to. So disappointed
It was great - all around great!! Food was excellent and service was outstanding! We love going here, always a good experience!!
Nice waitresses. Miss fish.
Quick service despite crowd.
Onion rings delish.
Shrimp remoulade great (miss larger shrimp).
Can’t think of more to say. But all I can say in finish is thanks.
We ate here on a weeknight, very nice, clean, friendly, casual place. Really enjoyed the appetizers, menu has some interesting items. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Only two deserts. We’ll be going back
Enjoyed an anniversary brunch. Very nice atmosphere. Delicious food
Very nice atmosphere and lovely service food was good and the coffee , desert was a lil small portions due very good
The restaurant is having renovations. The ceiling was open above my seat, the walls were unfinished sheetrock. The noise level was more like a diner with lots of people in a event room being very loud. The waitress did the best she could. The food, charbroiled salmon and baked reddish had tasty spicing but was exceedingly salty. A little salty can happy, but this was more like someone miscalculated and doubled or tripled the intended amount of salt.
There was no value to the ambience, food or service. I won't go back.
Delicious meal at a great price. Some renovations being done to the restaurant.
Nice, clean, safe place. Free parking, good bar, white paper tablecloth and friendly. Super appetizers, salads, limited entrees but good. We’ll be going back
The food is very good. Had a great waiter, a young man who has the abilities and personality of a much older and seasoned server. They were busy, the restaurant is well staffed and efficient and they accommodated people expertly. We do like to linger a little and enjoy one course before the second comes out, and that didn't happen. But, we understand the notion of turning the tables to accommodate more patrons. And, there was a rather big party in the private dining room that affected the timing. All good, and we will return.
Arrived and table was ready, great knowledgeable server and food was hot and delicious. Very enjoyable.
Amazing Steph is outstanding and the food is always great
When we arrived, we were not pleased with being seated so closely to a group of chatty women. However, the service was great! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, as well.
Food and service were amazing. Chad, a veteran waiter was attentive and accommodating. Recommended excellent appetizers and was able to cater to a special needs diner without being overbearing. Excellent for a family dinner or date.
Wonderful experience! So much food for such a great price!
The food was amazing! The waiter was great!
My friend had veal parmigiana and I had the fried catfish, the veal was tender and the sauce was perfect. The fish was moist with a crispy batter and it was not greasy at all!!
I will definitely go back!
The portion sizes were huge, but the food was pretty bland.
The quality of food was fine. Good traditional NOLA cooking. It is unfortunate that for many small businesses today they continue to have staffing shortages in this restaurant. The waiter informed us early on that they were understaffed and to expect delays. So we picked meals that were simple and we really didn’t have to wait too long. Waiters seemed stressed and frustrated.
This was my first time at Porter & Luke's. I made a reservation for Father's Day. I selected Porter & Luke's because of the diverse menu. The menu seemed to have something for everyone. I was a little hesitant because the restaurant was located in a strip mall but I was pleasantly surprised. The portions were large but not over priced. The food was delicious, and the service was great. I would recommend.
From start to finish, the service and food were amazing. Chandler was excellent but others would check in on us as well. The food was delicious and, I feel, was appropriately priced. Atmosphere was a positive relaxing vibe. It had a bit of liveliness to it but yet still quiet to where you could have an intimate conversation.
The food was very good and the staff friendly and very helpful. A well established restaurant in Old Metairie worth a visit!
The food was good. The Blue crab dip was amazing. I would recommend this restaurant.
Last minute dinner with the family. Everything was great including the bar menu.
We have enjoyed the lunch several times. Dinner was ok. Soft-shell crab over done and dry. Gumbo was good. Veal was also overdone. Lunch salads are great. Service is good.
I think our waiter’s name was Colton.
He was the most superb young man I have had the opportunity to meet lately. No, I’m not his mother.
I was just pleasantly surprised by his professionalism, knowledge of the food and his kindness. You don’t see many people like him anymore. He will be successful at whatever he chooses in life.
It was my first time at this restaurant. I absolutely loved it! The service was excellent. The food - out of this world GOOD!
Food was good however the food order was extremely slow.
Our server was amazing. He knew the menu by heart and offered 5 star quality hospitality. His initial is C definitely tip him well!
Great food. 2nd time there
Soft shell crab pontrain is good
Met family for dinner. Wait staff was prompt, friendly and efficient. He was well-versed on the menu items and specials. Appetizers were served quicky as well as drinks. Entrees were served without a hitch and were very good. Ordered bread pudding for desert. Too large and too "packy" Needs some "fine tuning." Otherwise, a great meal. Plan to return and would recommend to anyone.
