Porteno was warm and welcoming from the start. All of the staff from host to waiters to servers were excellent and personable. I would return in a heartbeat.
Nice daily specials. Refreshing drinks.
The waiter is extremely professional and gave a lot of recommendations.
The food was delicious from start to finish, we would highly recommend.
The impression I received as I entered the restaurant was of a warm place albeit a little noisy. The decor was simple, yet welcoming to the eyes. The service personnel couldn’t be nicer and knowledgeable about the food. All dishes sounded appetizing and delicious. However, my choice (Salmón Patagónico) tasted somewhat a little flat. My two guests really enjoyed their choices. The wine was excellent, as all Malbecs usually are. The prices seemed a little steep, not for the food quality but for such a small table with no elbow room, which made the dining experience a little claustrophobic.
As a whole, I enjoyed Porteño. Next time I will stick to what Argentina is famous for: meat! I’m sure I’ll enjoy it better.
We were five people at the table and our server seemed to have no patience when we asked for hot water and said he was running out of hot water because of us or when he asked if we were still eating the appetizer, took the plate and when we said yes he threw the plate back to the table in a very rude way hitting the water glasses... not our fault you have that server job sir. Now, the salmon was tasteless, the risotto had no salt at all, potato pie was what saved the night as well the beef empanadas.... but, never coming back. Adiós. Cheers to the bartender tho, he was very helpful when we came in and very nice, wish he had been our server.
Excellent food, great service, charming cozy atmosphere. Great wines.
Service was amazing. Beautiful little restaurant, and our party of four had a variety of dishes. We were pleased with our meals, the flavors were great and the presentation was spot on.
Great food, great vibe! Everyone I have taken to Porteno over the past three years goes back again and again. The food -- which includes Argentinian-informed steaks, pasta, a variety of salads, and the chef's special fish entrees, appetizers, and desserts -- is always fresh, creative and delicious. The service is excellent because the owners and staff work as a team to make everyone feel at home. On a typical night, the clientele includes regulars from the Chelsea art district, international tourists, a family or two and of course, dating couples. Add in the creative use of space and lighting, cool music that is never too loud for conversation, great wines and artisanal cocktails -- and the result is an extraordinary dining experience!
Lovely cozy place, attentive staff, very good food.
You must try the quinoa salad. Small place make reservations. Excellent service.
Excellent restaurant and food, however too much noise.
An excellent place for lunch, not too far from the Chelsea art galleries and High Line, and less priceythan many other option. The menu is varied, from Argentine specialties to salad and sandwiches, without being encyclopedic (thank goodness!). Our dishes -- a main course salad and an Argentine sandwich -- both got high marks. I'll go back
Lovely Saturday night dinner place with friendly service and delicious food. Very busy (due to small dining room), but cozy and energetic.
very pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. unfortunately the food and drinks were only fair.
Every single thing that came out of that kitchen was incredible and the service was beyond welcoming! I think I found one my favorite new restaurants in the city! How did it take me so long to get here?!
Great neighborhood find. We had a delicious meal with great service. Nice special options in addition to the regular menu. Will definitely return!!!
Anniversary with family
Great place, great staff. Food was amazing and reasonably priced. I would recommend it highly.
had dinner here a year ago, came back for lunch, not as good.
Love everything about Porteno. Never disappoints!
Everything about this place is outstanding, absolutely everything!
Outstanding food, yummy vino selection.
I’ve been many times and plan on going back, again & again...
A new Chelsea neighborhood gem. Hope they aren't destroyed by Landlord blight.
From the cocktails to the wine to the appetizers to the entrees to the desserts and even the coffee, everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared.
Excellent, prompt, friendly service.
PS best empanadas we have ever eaten.
Excellent on every level.
Restaurant was too loud. Short ribs had no flavor. Empanadas were fabulous.
I would go here again for Empanadas and wine in the late afternoon or if the place was empty.
Small but quality menu. Homemade pastas always a highlight
Excellent selection on the menu. Food was fabulous. Staff was so nice and accommodating. Great location. So close to the high line.
Lovely neighborhood find. Good food, terrific service, and small! AND...you can hear yourself and your friends even when the restaurant is full.
Always such a great time here. The food is incredibly balanced, the drinks are on point, and the Porteño team makes every visit memorable.
Great food but server was pretty snarky. Will likely be back.
Great service and ambiance. Food was excellent and perfect for a date night or small friend group.
Friendly staff. Definitely recommend making reservations because it is a small place and fills quickly. Good food, good service.
Chose this place based on reviews and this place is a gem. Food was amazing. Salmon Salad was incredibly tasty and the Bronzino was perfection. Great service too. If only they gave me half a glass of wine instead of 1/3 it would’ve been perfect ;-)
Will definitely visit again.
Enjoyed an early dinner here, pre concert. Had delicious grilled vegetables and a special flank steak with chimichurri, and potatoes. Ended with a yummy caramel flan. The service was wonderful! will return!
Fresh food, good service, a little pricey but expected in New York
Amazing food and amazing service
Love the location and service. I have pasta with sausage but it’s a bit under cook. Love the dessert choices and wine menu.
Great place. Great food. Great servers. I definitely recommend Porteno.
