Portals Restaurant at Suncadia Resort Ratings and Reviews
Service was wonderful - we were given a choice of waiting a few more minutes for a quieter spot near the window - and we took it. It was our anniversary and they surprised us with complimentary glasses of champagne. Nice, warm, cozy atmosphere with terrific view. We both shared the seafood pot and the flat iron steak - delicious on both accounts. It was great to have both.
From the start, service was excellent as they accomodated a 30 min delay in our reservation (because hotel check in was slow/late!). Food was great, including kids menu which include steak and salmon options - a treat for our kids! Wait service was very attentive. Only minor issue wasnousy baby nearby for part of time, but it is both family friendly and romantic.
Year after year this place disappoints. The food is fine. The service is terrible. It is so slow and the servers were robotic. They should at least smile. My family and I had to wait 10 min for someone to stop by our table after being seated. The restaurant was only half full. I was there this weekend and they said they were out of waffles. They can't make them from scratch? It is lucky that it here isn't much else around. The view is spectacular. It's too bad that a resort this nice can't have a better quality restaurant experience.
I have been here many times... most often for lunch. Suncadia is located an hour and 15 minutes east of Issaquah... a beautiful drive over Snoqualmie Pass for a delicious and delightful meal with anyone of any age, It takes about the same amount of time to get to Seattle and find a parking place (the parking is free at Suncadia!!!). I will return again and again. I have never experienced a meal or service less than the best.
This was our 3rd dinner at Portals. It was again outstanding: great options on the menu for all tastes, excellent service by the staff, plus an amazing view of the valley below. It was just my wife and I so it was "date night" but there was also families there with small kids and it was still a very calm atmosphere.
Terribly slow service no matter what time of day we went. Kids menu never changes, lunch or dinner. Gorgeous views, limited outdoor dining (3 tables). Food is quite good but incredibly expensive. Service needs to dramatically improve to warrant these prices.
The family style menu on Fridays is incredible! Four people eat for $50. They have something different each week and everytime that we've tried it we have left satisfied and with leftovers for the next day. The view is great. Just an hour from Issaquah and you can be on a Sunny vacation.
The waiter that we ended up with appeared to be new at the job and needs more experience to enhance the overall experience. In addition, the wine list had a bottle on 2006 Cave B listed, but to our surprise Portals no longer has it available (it should be removed from the wine list). We ended up settling for a 2008 Cave B and it didn't end up getting corked until after we had finished our meal.
We had to wait for our food for about 45 minutes after we ordered. The food then came out cold. Our waitress comped our dessert, but that took another half hour to receive. Great tasting food, but very slow kitchen. Our waitress tried her hardest to make up for it.
Portals has a great view of the Cle Elum river and the nearby mountains. The food can be good - in particular their lamb is delicious! However I've been underwhelmed by some of their other dishes (like overcooked steak). The service is also highly variable - sometimes your waiter / waitress is great but most of the time you don't see them often and food is often delivered "just warm" instead of hot.
They were understaffed. It took a long time to be seated. We loved the staff once we were seated. The food was spendy but very very good. I like the availability of portion size choices. It was even better the second night. I would deffinately recomend them as a meeting place.
We decided to celebrate our 31st anniversary at Suncadia. What a beautiful setting, very nice lodge, comfortable chairs and decor and the view is awesome! The staff is very attentive and friendly. Our meals were great! They catered to my special dietary needs without a blink of an eye. We took our own wine so not sure of the wine choices. Breakfast was delicious as well. I once again requested my meal a little different from the menu and they were happy to oblige. I noticed other tables with small children got the same treatment. Great place and delicious food. We will go back! A gem in the eastern Washington foothills!
Took 60 minutes to get our 3 entrees of which only 1 was edible. Burger was charred and dry (we ordered it med), the prime rib sandwhich was deli roast beef (for $20) The Lobster Mac was good and the three of us shared it as it took another 20 before we could flag waitstaff down to tell them about the issues with our entrees. The table next to us got thier entrees to go because they took so long to arrive and thier kids were falling asleep. Another woman we ran into later in the lobby (who was getting seated as we were leaving) saw us and complained that they has waited an hour to get seated & they has still yet to receive thier food and we had left over an hour ago. Really expensive, horrible food and forever waits. Don't do it.
