We gave this an overall 2 stars, if half-stars were allowed we'd have given it 2.5. Three things stuck out.
1. Wobbly table. When we were seated we noticed the table had one short leg. Not a big deal, we asked the hostess if they had a wedge or something to fix it. She said she'd take care of it right away. Later when our server arrived we asked about fixing the table, he said he'd take care of it. When he brought our wine we asked again he apologized for forgetting and took care of it right away. I don't recall going to a "fancy" restaurant and having a wobbly table. I'm thinking the people who set the table make sure the table is ready for guests. If we had spent under $130 on our meal I'd think nothing of it. We spent well over $130 for two of us.
2. My wife ordered the salmon. It was very salty. Otherwise it was good. She didn't want to wait to send it back as we were both very hungry. In hindsight, we should have sent it back.
3. I ordered the Elk shepards pie which tasted great. Unfortunately it was just barely warm enough. Again, hunger and schedule made me decide to keep it and not send it back.

We had the Brussels sprout appetizer which was delicious.

We don't dine out at restaurants where our total bill is over $130 for two people very often, but when we do, we try to find places that we believe are worth it. If our total bill was under $100 then I'd feel like this was a good value but in my mind the price doesn't match the experience.

Ate here three times in our weekend stay, one for breakfast, once for lunch, and once for dinner. Each time the service was painfully slow. Servers were polite and food was good but a bit pricey. The view is amazing.

Super place for a quiet business lunch when you have participants in different parts of the State. Great food -- we have enjoyed breakfast meetings here on occasion and we thought the lunch was even better.

We sat for close to 15 minutes without even being acknowledged. When the waiter finally came we ordered our meals and asked for coffee expecting even if we had to wait for food we would have some coffee while we sat. After waiting another 10 minutes we had to flag down our waiter and ask if we could at least have coffee. After another severl minutes, it came. The food is not particularly creative and is expensive but was adequately repaired. This occasion was brunch. We had been previously for dinner. Service was better but an uninspired menu.

Unfortunately I was disappointed with Portals. Since we were attending a destination wedding and lodging at Suncadia, we didn't have lots of eating choices. So, our family of 6-8 ate at Portals quite a bit. The lunch was quite good. However, I got sick after eating a few bites of the Seared Ling Cod over quinoa. At breakfast, the Eggs Benedict wasn't a hit either. The eggs tasted like they were dipped in vinegar. Both my son and I who ordered that dish tasted it. Meanwhile, we had great service and the views were spectacular with the forest fire on the ridge far away. The smoke in the hallways bothered us but that couldn't be helped. I think the food is very mediocre and doesn't match its high price.

My parents, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary, were ecstatic when we surprised them with the hour-long trip to Suncadia! Portals more than met my expectations, which were high, based on menu and location. The lodge is gorgeous, surrounded by forest. The food and service were of the highest quality I've experienced. The celebration was a huge success!

We were staying at suncadia and ate at the restaurant one night for dinner and appetizers another night. I had the salmon and a salad. My husband had a clam chowder soup and a salad. The service was fine. The waiter was young and helpful with menu choices. My husband's clam chowder was not homemade. Thick and tasted canned. Salads were good. Salmon was fine. There were limited menu choices. Very family oriented, but this was a family resort. Lunch selections were also very limited. Average experience and expensive prices.

Suncadia pretty consistently dreams about being 5 star but hits somewhere south of 4. This visit to Portals was no exception. We were seated late (8:45) so it was pretty quiet but it still took 15 minutes for our server to check in. Granted, we had somebody else stop by a bit earlier to tell us who our server would be and to ask whether we wanted to order any drinks but 15 minutes was still unacceptable. After he arrived and I expressed my dissatisfaction, he was appropriately attentive. But the damage was done as it related to our expectations about the experience. As for the food, it was hit and miss. The crab cake appetizer was tasty as were the desserts. But the two beef dishes (one a New York Strip, another the Pot Roast) lacked flavor.

I was looking for some place special to take my two girls for dinner with a local menu.
The Angus pot roast was exceptional, salmon baked to perfection, along with the side dishes that accompanied the meals.
The service is superb!
Was a pleasant experience and would highly recommend making reservations for this location.

Food was mediocre, they ran out of dishes. What's funny is we had dinner there two days prior and they were out of the meat pie...they were also out of it 2 days later, what?!
Our server was great and reassured us that the Halibut was not going to be dry...it was :(
Not her fault.
The chicken sandwich is a grilled chicken breast which is than battered and fried, what!!! Drier than you'd expect, a major bummer. Poor planning on whomever is running this place. I guess they do have a steady stream of clientele, who have slim pickings when it comes to staying at Suncadia. Only one restaurant, 3 if you count the golf course and Swift.
You are better off cooking for yourself, even if it's Mac & cheese out of the box! But in all fairness crab cakes were good, so 2 stars instead of one!

I was disappointed. The food menu was limited and mediocre. The preparation of my dish, mac and cheese with crab and truffled bread crumbs, was merely adequate. I could not taste the truffle at all and the crab seemed limited to two sections of King Crab leg, with small claw, each about an inch long. The crab cakes were not good at all, too much bread not enough crab, makes one wonder if they ran out. Great view, I would go again for a drink, but not dinner.

This is a very nice restaurant for both large extended family groups, and for older couples. The Easter Buffet selection was very good. Since we were a couple unaccompanied by children, we enjoyed all the kids who were there. Obviously the Easter Bunny was roaming about entertaining them, although the staff seated us at a private location, out of the traffic pattern. The food was very good, traditional and marked with gluten free and other ingredient labels.
The service was excellent and the view from our table was lovely. prices were reasonable for a holiday, better than Seattle, where we live.

Drove up to Suncadia for dinner at their fine dinning restaurant. Had heard great things about it. Wasn't disappointed.

Recommend reservations. Ask for a table by the windows. Fantastic view of the Cascades.

Food was beyond expectations. Even the bread!

I asked the waiter if the salmon was farm raised and he said yes, but another waiter overheard him and said it was wild. Anyhow, I ordered the salmon (not fully convinced it was wild) and my sister ordered the Northern Exposure (basically crab mac and cheese). The waiter brought us somebody else's dinners first, then the wrong salads, and then finally our correct salads. I had the Wind Farm Ridge salad which was the best part of my meal, although it was very small. When our dinners were presented to us, my sister and I both looked at each other like, really? The chef could certainly benefit from some lessons on plating - our dinners were not very aesthetically pleasing to say the least. The salmon tasted OK but nothing special - no sauce on it, and nothing underneath it - just laying there all by itself next to a blob of root vegetables (or whatever that purple pile was) which was, well, so gross looking that I didn't eat it (and I eat everything). My sisters crab mac and cheese was short on the crab but it was OK if you're into corkscrew noodles and a bland sauce. Between the inexperienced waiter, the mediocre food and having to sit next to a table with a whiny kid, with parents that clearly don't know when bedtime is, it was a disappointing experience. My advice is either lower your prices or step up your game.

It's an ok casual dining experience at not so casual prices. We celebrated my husbands birthday there during our stay at Suncadia. The food was decent, but expect diner style service with all your meal coming out at once. Didn't feel like a nice restaurant, we will be having all of our meals at the Winery next time.

As Tumble Creek members, we've been here many times but our last dining experience was less than expected. First, since they removed the carpet from the dining room the noise level is much louder ... feels much more like Swiftwater. It was always nice to have Portals as a quieter alternative. Second, our waitress seemed overworked and not very interested in having us there. Our food obviously came a long time after tables that were seated later than we were. No apologies for the lengthy wait. Third, the menu is an odd assortment of foods and price levels. We much prefer the old Portals.

I'm not sure what happened to the food but the days of the best lunch around are gone. Sandwich bread burned for two of us, Truffle Fries mushy and not fully cooked, Trout was dry and seemed old with wilted veggies. Menu options are at a minimal and all of our favorite items are gone. Service was great and the view you can not beat. I will say on a positive they finally have kiddo options and made sure the Kiddo was taken care of big thumbs up on that. I would suggest a new chef and or really look at whats happening in the kitchen with quality of food coming out.

I want to like this place, I really do, but due to their horribly overpriced and mediocre food, I can't. I live in the area and have eaten here several times because clients and out-of-town friends and family always want to try it. Last night was the worst so far. Two people at the table had the crab mac and cheese and it looked more like soup. Two people had the salmon and said it was just ok. I had the pork chop which was also just ok. Why did the server bother asking me how I wanted it cooked if they were just going to cook it well-done? I didn't send it back because we'd already been there for an hour and who knows how much longer that would've been?? We paid $250 for 5 entrees (no apps, no sides) and 2 beers a piece which I wouldn't have minded if the food was good.

This place has been sub-par since the day it opened. The only thing it has going for it is location, it is the only restaurant in the lodge. It's so unfortunate because the restaurant is beautiful and the setting is gorgeous. Save your money and drive into Roslyn.
