Excellent food and drinks and service
First time dining here, but won’t be the last! Food was excellent and ambience was pleasant!
Went there for the music which was very very good every other Sunday
We went for Valentine’s Day and they seemed to be un prepared even though it wasn’t busy. They didn’t even ask for our reservation. They advertised a rose upon entertainment and that didn’t even happen. The order was wrong as well but I just took it so we didn’t have to wait for each other. They even added an automatic gratuity for 2 people which is against the law so she offered to take it off. Really bad experience.
The evening was not too bad except that the server kept trying to move us from one course to the next despite no need to do so(They were not too busy) and askinghker not to so. Her behavior diminshed an otherwise pleasant evening saved by an excellent guitar duo on Valentine's day
This is a hidden gem! The cuisine is Mediterranean and fire grilled, excellent selection! Central fireplace and ambient lighting for a romantic setting. Excellent for date night. Service was perfect and unhurried. They take special orders, the kitchen will put together just about any combo thinkable! Prices were very reasonable.
Went for brunch and was told that the only available time was 11:00 or 11:15 - the place was empty. We would have preferred to have gone a little later.
Dinner at the Port Restaurant & Bar followed a showing of "The Post" at a nearby theater. The combination of an outstanding movie and a quiet and decent meal made for an enjoyable evening. The Port Restaurant is located on a Corona del Mar side street with a rather nondescript exterior. The interior is also nondescript but the paintings hanging on the wall are interesting. Life music was available on the evening we dined (Saturday). The service was friendly and helpful. The food (barley soap, soup, and flatbreads) were good. The price was reasonable. Overall a decent meal at a reasonable price in a quiet environment. Recommended.
Oh where to begin. Our reservations were for 11 am and even though they were open at 10am there wasn’t anyone to be found. When we finally found someone in the restaurant we told them we wanted to sit on the front patio. We waited about 10 minutes and then decided to get up and tell them that we wanted service. We were the only ones in the restaurant. When the server came out it looked like he slept in his uniform. It had food all over it and then he told us that he was sorry for being late as his phone wasn’t charged last night and his alarm didn’t go off. Well we finally ordered the food to include 2 mimosas. When he came back to the table 10 minutes later (again no one in the restaurant) he put my glass down and then my wifes and he noticed there was something in the glass so he put his thumb in it to get it out. My wife had to tell him that she wanted another glass. Who knows if we got another glass or not. The food finally came out but without one of our dishes. When the other server came out with the dish he pulled a spice container out of his pants pocket and placed it on the table. We finally asked for the bill and then we paid with cash. When the server came back with the change he said we don’t have any pennies so he shorted us 3 cents. You know what they say, “you can’t make this sh.. up” Needless to say we couldn’t get out of there fast enough. We would have left after waiting the initial 10 minutes but we had a Living Social coupon and in retrospect we should have left right away. Do yourself a favor and NEVER GO HERE. This place was as bad as it gets…and for Corona Del Mar, wow….so disappointed
We had such a good time! Make sure you mention if you have a Groupon before you order, as there is information that is helpful to know before ordering! The food was fantastic (Chicken Curry and Seafood Pasta). I ordered a Pear Martini, which I had heard wonderful things about, but it was too strong for me to drink. (I know... blasphemy). Overall, great experience! It is a little dark... we used our phone flashlights to read the menu!
We have always had a great experience for an evening out here at the Port. Music was exceptional Wednesday night. I had the medallions of beef cooked to perfection. Loved the fresh veggies and scalloped potatoes as well as two dipping sauces. Our waitress was Villi (sp.?) who is really the bartender but was friendly and attentive as our waiter (waitress!). I hated the wine I ordered and she cheerfully replaced it with another choice.
I can hardly believe all the very negative reviews I have read about this restaurant. This is the fourth time we have eaten there and have never had a complaint about the food, wait service or entertainment.
Great Groupon deal. The food was fantastic and the entertainment great.
I would not recommend this place as the service was horrible.
We arrived at 6pm, the place was empty as we expected that early. The food was good but the service was so bad it ruined the experience completely. They were out of the beer I ordered, we asked for extra napkins and never got them. The server was no where to be seen although there were only 3 tables sat in the restaurant.
Wonderful evening with friends! Excellent food, spirits, and live entertainment. The owner, Ali, is a great host! He makes us feel welcomed, and we have never been disappointed. Atmosphere is perfect for a date night or special get-together.
It was overpriced. Not worth it but cool paintings and lighting.
Good music
Review will be short and to the point:
Service was very good- we felt welcome and our server was energetic and attentive.
Ambiance was very nice- soothing dimly lit dining area, very pleasing wall art and interior design.
Food, in our opinion, was not the best as the entrees and appetizers we ordered had a significant lack of flavor. Portions were also fairly small and overpriced.
In the future, we will probably only come here only for a dessert or drink during live music and can only recommend this restaurant for that.
The most bizarre experience ever!!! Not a soul at the restaurant—meaning no other customers but us the entire time we were there for brunch.
-poor bumbling waiter (dirty uniform, zipper down but he did fix it eventually)
-ordered our brunch, food took forever, one of the dishes: brioche egg dish w/caramelized onions came out on a toasted English muffin (not brioche) w/rubbery egg omelet topped w/plastic cheese & no onions in sight.
Poor waiter bumbled for about 10 minutes how they’re out of brioche but no one told him & replaced it w/another dish that also took forever.
I had to share my friend’s dish cuz we were so hungry by then...btw, her dish had zero resemblance to what they named “Chilaquiles” but more like a giant stack of tortillas topped with an omelette & cheddar cheese. Strange to say the least.
Odd place, odd vibe, odd mixed up menu. Sorry but these are exact facts.
Went for Sunday brunch. Only 2 couples there. Did not have food list ed on their menu. We would not recommend.
The restaurant is dated. The music is way too loud, although it is fun to have music. I think it would be much better if you were just going to the bar. The food was good, but it is remarkable that they don't have lamb skewers as they usually offer this in a Mediterranean place.
Port restaurant is an intimate little neighborhood gem. Informal, attentive service, nice selection of lunch, brunch and dinner items.
Great place Great Service Great Music
Nice place to just relax and unwind
Great food, very loud music. If you like to be entertained great place to listen to music. If your going for quiet dinner out , go very early
Went for a Sunday brunch with my parents (father disable in a wheelchair). Park across the street but be prepared to lift wheelchair over the curb. Prix Fixe brunch was a good value. Local Jazz group was really great and was also fun to see other musicians come in and jam. Give The Port a try, you won't be disappointed!
Truly a hidden gem in Corona del Mar. Once past the nondescript facade, there is a beautiful atrium dining area with beautiful artwork, friendly wait staff, and a nice variety of music!
Great food! Great live music! Great service! They have a Groupon.
This is a really great Groupon value. The pear martini is delicious.
Parking is easy after 6
Went to see Jimmy Hopper perform and this was our first time at this restaurant and the evening was awesome. Jimmy Hopper was as good as it gets still. The food and drinks were great and the atmosphere was romantic and a gem of a place and the owner Ali Zadeh makes you feel like home. Totally recommend this place.
Great place to get a great meal and listen to live music. Local vibe and cool decor, I would highly recommend going here. I will be back again!
Great outdoor terrace dining w entertainment. . Good food & drinks.
service less than poor and food was fair at best and only 3 tables in use when we were there. never again.
Always great food and great service. A hidden gem.
Good food and great martinis! Enjoyed the live music.
excellent music venue, good food, good service, friendly, reasonable, lots of free parking
Great hidden treasure in CDM with good food and entertainment every day. Great service and value.
Great music
We got there early to enjoy dinner before the musician started. I had the swordfish and my date had the scallops. Both were perfect! At about 8 Jimmy Hopper started playing and singing. He does a Vegas style one man revue at the piano. He played for about 3 hours nonstop. It was marvelous! Lots of popular songs and show tunes. He also did a few opera numbers, just to show his vocal range. I'm glad we came!
Taylor took terrific care of us!!! Great music too.
My experience was great. What a nice restaurant setting. The waiter was very accommodating giving us time to enjoy our drinks and appetizer of olive tapenade. Very good. My sister had the kale salad and not knowing what to expect, it was very good and she is a food snob. I had the chicken curry spicy and it was delicious. Just the right amount of heat. Prices are normal for this area. Highly recommend and would definitely return.
A nice cozy relaxing place for Sunday brunch in Corona Del Mar. Parking on the street if available. Excellent service, great brunch & Bloody Mary. Classic Egg Benedict and Florentine Benedict were perfectly prepared. The homemade fries were nicely roasted with onions and bell pepper. Definitely coming back and try their dinner with live music.
