Port Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Review will be short and to the point:
Service was very good- we felt welcome and our server was energetic and attentive.
Ambiance was very nice- soothing dimly lit dining area, very pleasing wall art and interior design.
Food, in our opinion, was not the best as the entrees and appetizers we ordered had a significant lack of flavor. Portions were also fairly small and overpriced.
In the future, we will probably only come here only for a dessert or drink during live music and can only recommend this restaurant for that.
The most bizarre experience ever!!! Not a soul at the restaurant—meaning no other customers but us the entire time we were there for brunch.
-poor bumbling waiter (dirty uniform, zipper down but he did fix it eventually)
-ordered our brunch, food took forever, one of the dishes: brioche egg dish w/caramelized onions came out on a toasted English muffin (not brioche) w/rubbery egg omelet topped w/plastic cheese & no onions in sight.
Poor waiter bumbled for about 10 minutes how they’re out of brioche but no one told him & replaced it w/another dish that also took forever.
I had to share my friend’s dish cuz we were so hungry by then...btw, her dish had zero resemblance to what they named “Chilaquiles” but more like a giant stack of tortillas topped with an omelette & cheddar cheese. Strange to say the least.
Odd place, odd vibe, odd mixed up menu. Sorry but these are exact facts.
The restaurant is dated. The music is way too loud, although it is fun to have music. I think it would be much better if you were just going to the bar. The food was good, but it is remarkable that they don't have lamb skewers as they usually offer this in a Mediterranean place.
Went for a Sunday brunch with my parents (father disable in a wheelchair). Park across the street but be prepared to lift wheelchair over the curb. Prix Fixe brunch was a good value. Local Jazz group was really great and was also fun to see other musicians come in and jam. Give The Port a try, you won't be disappointed!
Went to see Jimmy Hopper perform and this was our first time at this restaurant and the evening was awesome. Jimmy Hopper was as good as it gets still. The food and drinks were great and the atmosphere was romantic and a gem of a place and the owner Ali Zadeh makes you feel like home. Totally recommend this place.
We got there early to enjoy dinner before the musician started. I had the swordfish and my date had the scallops. Both were perfect! At about 8 Jimmy Hopper started playing and singing. He does a Vegas style one man revue at the piano. He played for about 3 hours nonstop. It was marvelous! Lots of popular songs and show tunes. He also did a few opera numbers, just to show his vocal range. I'm glad we came!
My experience was great. What a nice restaurant setting. The waiter was very accommodating giving us time to enjoy our drinks and appetizer of olive tapenade. Very good. My sister had the kale salad and not knowing what to expect, it was very good and she is a food snob. I had the chicken curry spicy and it was delicious. Just the right amount of heat. Prices are normal for this area. Highly recommend and would definitely return.
A nice cozy relaxing place for Sunday brunch in Corona Del Mar. Parking on the street if available. Excellent service, great brunch & Bloody Mary. Classic Egg Benedict and Florentine Benedict were perfectly prepared. The homemade fries were nicely roasted with onions and bell pepper. Definitely coming back and try their dinner with live music.
Having dined here many times we knew our meals would be delicious. We decided to go for brunch on Easter Sunday - great service, good food and quiet but unfortunately not very busy like when we dine for dinner. I'm guessing it's not an Easter place - our meal however was tasty and we would return for brunch on another Sunday. Very extensive menu with many choices for all types of people - Even those with food allergies. Enjoy! 😀 B
Eclectic food, music and crowd. If Jimmy Hopper is playing plan to spend the evening. You won't want to leave. Our group spanned teenagers to grandparents and everyone had a great time. The mostly Persian menu is well executed and worth stoping in for itself.
This place has gone down hill and is extremely under staffed and low budget. The service was the bartender and she was nice but seemed like she was on quaaludes or something & this resulted in slow service. We waited at the front for someone to seat us, no one came up front so my wife called the restaurant to tell them we were at the front waiting to be seated. We ordered the filet kabob medium and it was over cooked. The tiger shrimp kabob was good. We also ordered a side of macaroni and cheese which was bland & not seasoned at all. Our reservation was at 6 pm by 7 the place turns into a night club with loud music and low lighting. We asked for the fireplace to be lit but that didn't happen until 5 minutes before we left. We asked about being checked in on OpenTable and the bartender said she didn't even know what that was. This place used to be a gem of CDM but now, it's dank, dirty and low budget. We'll never go back, never.
