The food was so amazing! My favorite dish by far (and we tried several) was the berries and quinoa salad. So good and sweet that it could be a dessert easily. Yum! They were also very good and professional about my food allergies and very informative about each of their dishes. Spot on! The place itself was adorable. I loved the atmosphere. Very homey, yet upscale feel. Definitely going back.
Great place. Smaller and quiet. Great snapper and shrimp and grits. Very relaxing with a bottle of wine.
Love, love, love this restaurant! My friends and I planned our trip to Galveston around their schedule. A Cajun touch to the menu & worth the drive down here!
I've eaten at Porch Café several times and enjoyed them all. It may be my favorite restaurant on the island. On the most recent visit, we sat out on the screened porch. It was a nice evening, with gulf breeze. I highly recommend the avocado caesar salad with crab cake.
Out of everything, coffee machine broke, out of pancake mix for pancake bar- no substitutions for bread only bad biscuits - no rye west white, sourdough-Nothing- no English muffins!chef refused to place item on a side plate-empty for a reason. Waitress nice, but could not override chefs inability to leave one item on the side. Allergies.bring an epi pen! Bathroom out of everything too. Have to blame management-millennials running the show. I would go back next year when it is a new restaurant...this cannot continue
Love the shrimp and grits, quail and crab cake.
Group of 4 enjoyed dinner inside due to weather. The screened porch is also very nice. Good food and reasonably priced wine.
Had anniversary dinner here had shrimp and grits perfect portion delicious shrimp.
Gumbo great too!
Formal front but elegant.
Due to off season our wait person was a beat off and although greeted us with Happy Anniversary she never offered us desert but the manager did although late we declined.
We’d go back for brunch seemed like that is what they are known for.
We had Easter brunch, sat outside, beautiful view! There was a buffet, food was average, service was excellent. The reason you go here is for the views! It was a little pricey for what we got but still Would return.
We have been to the Porch for dinner as it was delicious, a good value and good service. We went for Easter Brunch and was disappointed in quality of food and beverage. Food on buffet was dry and not hot. Mimosas were room temperature. Definitely would not go back for brunch.
overpriced for dinning experience. Very slow service, very small portion..i won't coming back
Great food, large quantities. Nice servers.
Porch Cafe is the hilight of every trip I make to Galveston - we do the family fun stuff with fried fish and all, but my kids know that for at least one meal every trip, mom and dad get OUR meal - amazing food - gorgeous place - just a little escape! No trip to Galveston is complete without a meal at Porch Cafe.
Great I will def be back
Brunch was excellent. Menu had a variety of options. The goat cheese appetizer was delicious.
Always a good choice for a quiet dinner just for two or with the family. Service is good. Food is very good, especially the fried green tomatoes for me!
Their chipotle rapsberry goat cheese dish was TO DIE FOR, as well as their key lime pie rumtini!
Entire staff was very well-trained & well-mannered. In a quiet area of Galveston off the Seawall, with a beautiful view of one of the nicer parts of town.
Would definitely recommend in the Spring when the weather is perfect & you can sit on the porch.
I'm not a local, but found this place on Yelp - if you're on the fence, definitely go! It was a special afternoon for my partner & I, as it was his birthday. They brought out a very rich chocolate cake (with no singing!) to celebrate.
Great food, great service and a pleasant experience. Well done.
Cute, beachy cafe away from the craziness. Adequate in most ways, but not great, not bad. Limited menu.
We really looked forward to this restaurant while briefly in Galveston. The ambience is lovely. great spot and decor. Even though there were only 2 tables with patrons, our waitress was slow and not engaged. Got items wrong. No apologies. Brought an underdone burger after specifically asking for well done. Took back happily to kitchen only to bring back microwaved on same plate still underdone. Then when part of the table was finished, she asked about dessert. When told no one was interested. She dropped the cheque on table despite the fact the last person was still eating. Perhaps super anxious to go home?? So very classless in an otherwise upscale locale. So sad. As well the food was only mediocre but expens
Finally, despite booking on opentable - no points added to account.
This was our first time eating at the Porch Cafe and it was excellent! Friendly service and delicious food made this a memorable experience. The fried green tomatoes were delicious and the crab cakes were the real deal. We live on the island and now that we have found this hidden gem, we will be coming back here often.
The Valentines menu was fabulous. The Lobster Chowder was absolutely the best I have had and the steak was prepared to perfection. Wonderful dessert and ended with a gorgeous rose!
This restaurant is nice and quite if you are on a date. The only drawback is that the food quality is poor for the price. They do have some different drinks on there menu. I would recommend this place just be prepared.
Must be under new management food quality was mediocre at best. Eggs were over cooked biscuits where out of a can and under cooked. We use to love this cafe for Sunday brunch, we won’t go back.
We visited the Porch Cafe for a Sunday lunch. We tried several of the Tapas plates, they were all good. The server wasn't very attentive, however. It didn't seem to be that busy.
My sister brought her service dog. There was a dog bowl already set at our table. Great ambiance. Wonderful service and food well presented.
The food was delicious, service was outstanding and ambience was great. I will definitely return.
Our server was great. We went for restaurant week this time and there seemed to be 3 menus published. That was not a problem our server answered all questions and brought us everything we wanted. The food does not disappoint.
This was fairly disappointing. we came for restaurant week offerings and they were quite sad. The brussel sprouts were not cooked. The steak was stringy. The pasta was flavorless and lacked character. The vegetables were good. Not impressed and won't be back
THe Porch Cafe is the best restaurant on the southside of Houston
The Dishes are creative and unique, the menu is limited as this is a small place
but there are always some off the menu specials. IF you get the meal deal the portions are smaller so you can eat all the food. The AVacado Salad is unique and the best
Wonderful restaurant! We had a quiet dinner with friends and it was perfect. My husband and I have also had dinner here, just the two of us, and it is very romantic and just quiet enough to enjoy.
We really enjoyed the service, food, great cocktails, and atmosphere. We will be back!
My husband and I were visiting Galveston for the weekend and I looked at Yelp for a restaurant recommendation. This place definitely lived up to the great reviews. We had the Filet Mignon, which was cooked perfectly to medium rare. The poblano grits were wonderfully creamy and the Brussels Sprouts that were roasted in a honey dijon sauce were absolutely the best part of the whole plate! We sat on the outside porch area and it had a nice romantic ambiance. Our server was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant!
They never disappoint. Small menu but executed perfectly every time.
Great lunch time!! Food was exquisite and staff was on top of things. Second time here a still amazing
Went here for Saturday brunch. I ordered the crab cake sandwich and my husband the steak Benedicts.
The food looked great when the server brought it to the table. However, my crab cake was mushy and tasteless and my husbands poached eggs were hard. His steak was well done even though he ordered medium rare. Even my ice tea tasted bitter as if they had boiled the tea bag. The fries I had with my sandwich were good.
I had been there one previous time during which I ordered the chicken and waffles. I didn’t order them again this time because they were just ok.
The atmosphere is really Seaside beachy with tall ceilings. It’s too bad the food just isn’t cooked quite right. There was only one other table, so we can’t blame it on a rush.
Excellent food, beautiful porch with refreshing ocean breezes, but slow service. You must be there to relax because you’re not going to be rushed.
Very European ambiance, the menu was great and the service very good. We went for a family diner, really perfect. I am french and I feel like in my own country there (ambiance, light, choice of food).
I went to this secluded restaurant on a Saturday night, and was surprised that there were so few customers. This restaurant has wonderful ambiance, bright warm lights indoors and low candlelight on the porch. The dinner was delicious. I had a three-course dinner of crabcake starter, shrimp and grits entree, and brownie icecream dessert. I attached some images to this review. I was very full from dinner, and so was my partner who had a 4-course meal. My only complaint in this review is that there were no vegetarian entrees :*( and the outdoors area where I sat smelled of kerosene or gas from the heaters. The beach is just a few meters away if you arrive early or want to take a stroll after eating. I had a good dining experience here, and recommend this place, but I think many people would really appreciate a vegetarian dinner choice.
A hidden gem with fantastic ambience and a cool relaxed atmosphere.
Lots of parking, the beach is s few minutes walk. Surrounded by beautiful homes in classic Galveston "up on stilts" style.
Food was excellent and service unhurried and polite.
