The crab cake was delicious! We enjoyed the a la cart options - grilled snapper and grilled salmon. We look forward to returning soon!
Great little spot on the far east end of Galveston. The food was slightly pricey but very tasty. I ordered the smoked salmon benedict which was amazing. My husband had the biscuits and gravy which was also very good. The porch seating offered a nice breeze and a slightly distant view of the ocean. I would return and I would recommend to friends and family.
Very close to the Galvestonian where we were staying. Nice walk to get there.
Food was very good. Would definitely go back.
We came here to celebrate our anniversary. I noticed that they only had 2 waitress (waiter). One person for inside and one for outside. The outside person is also the hostess too. I feel like the short staffed her affected my service. The waitress also had a heavy accent too I couldn’t understand what the specials were. My waitress didn’t check up on me as much as I would have like. I would love to know that there’s gonna bones in my fish. I would have like her to check on me to see how I liked the food. As for the food, all of the entrees were good. I had the snapper and scallops. And the snapper had bones in it. My husband had the lemon butter salmon. It was delicious. Vegetables were cooked perfectly. The butter was wonderful!! I love the butter.
Not agreat experience...overpriced, pedestrian fare. Untrained staff with no processes in place. Beautiful environment, but not worth it!
While we were visiting Galveston, I found this restaurant on Open Table and made the reservation for Sunday brunch. We got there on time and were seated. They did not have a sling for our baby’s car seat so we had figure out on our own how to place the car seat (put 3 chairs together and voila!). Our server, Lani, came after about 10 minutes or so with glasses of water. She asked us if we wanted anything else to drink, my husband said coffee and she was off. Even without giving us a chance to say we were ready to order. This is the 1st time we saw her. She brought the coffee and took our order. This is the 2nd time we saw her. She refilled my husband’s coffee, once. 3rd time we saw her. Let me state here that every time she would come she would never ask how we’re doing or if we needed anything. She would just come and do what was needful and leave. Dropped off our food without speaking a word. 4th time we saw her. The food was okay. I had the smoked salmon Benedict on a croissant. It was okay. The greens on it had been wilted. Everyone else on the table said their food was just okay. The portions are very small for the price. Anyways, so we are finished with our meal and still Lani is no where in sight. The table next to us had a different waiter and we found out his entire life story since he was there a lot talking to the customers at that table and we over heard him. After waiting for about 15 minutes Lani comes over with our check, asking us then if we needed anything else. We were planning on getting maybe a hot beverage like cappuccino or something but with that kind of service we just wanted to get out of there. So in total it was poor customer service, over priced food and okay ambience. Would not go there again at any cost and would never recommend it to anyone else either.
First time there and really enjoyed it. Plan to visit again
We really enjoyed our meal at the Porch. It was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences we’ve had. We tried to make another reservation but they had no times available.
We all loved brunch! My son said they were the best pancakes he ever had. We will be back soon.
We celebrated a birthday and all of enjoyed our delicious meals. It was nice and quiet inside and our service was great.
A beautiful restaurant and loved dining on the big screened in porch! Good food but the service is a bit slow. Still a great evening.
Mother’s Day Brunch
Awful! Went for “Brunch” with my family for Mother’s Day, and it was such a disappointment. We were unaware that a buffet was being served, had we know, we would have made other arrangements. I’ve never seen such a poor display in my life, it looked like a last minute event. Forty five dollars per person was outrageous for the quality of food offered.
Nice selection of dishes. Smoked salmon is delicious. Ate from Mother's Day buffet and loved that there was a carving station and made to order pancakes. Loved the decor; that 'porch' is awesome!! Already planning to return. It was worth the drive from Houston.
Atmosphere was perfect. Cool breeze going through the screened in porch.
For $50 a pop for buffet, the dessert was very, very lacking. Cinnamon rolls is all that was offered.
Also, prime rib was the only lunch part of the brunch entree - not impressed.
Mother’s Day brunch. Selection of food items excellent as was the food itself. Staff incredibly accommodating. Can’t wait to go back.
Reservations for 10 for Mother’s Day brunch. I should mention the original reservation was for 8 and we were accommodated for 10 when I called the night before to ask if we could add 2. Very kind!
Overall, the food was decent, but under seasoned, requiring S&P. Of fried green tomatoes, baked goat cheese and berry compote, crab cake benedict, chicken and waffle, the three cheese frittata was the best thing we ordered.
The servers seemed staffed but they seemed to struggle to keep up with drink orders and table clearing.
The check mentioned a four course pairing at Sunday dinner. We’ll give them another whirl.
We loved the Bloody Mary bar! Food did not disappoint. Great Mother's Day Brunch.
Fabulous meal! Best ever in Galveston. We should have gone all 3 nights during our trip. It will not disappoint! Want to go back.
My date and I enjoyed our first visit there.
The food was amazing, and the customer service was excellent.
The Porch Cafe was a delight! The staff was professional and knowledgeable about the menu and specials and the Bloody Mary bar could be a meal unto itself. The casual-vibe was perfect for a seaside restaurant and the screened in porch was lovely. I'd go hear again in a heartbeat!
Enjoyable Sunday brunch by the beach. Perfectly-prepared eggs Benedict over smoked salmon (2 per plate). Crab cakes are almost entirely fresh lump crab meat. Gumbo was tasty. Prices were slightly less than expected for this quality food and location.
Food was ok but the location and ambiance was great! Restaurant seemed under staffed at the time, a weekday, but service was slow. Food wasn’t anything to write home about. Menu wasn’t very big and there were no weekly or nightly specials to add to the small menu. I will return to give it another try before I make a full opinion about the restaurant
The food was so amazing! My favorite dish by far (and we tried several) was the berries and quinoa salad. So good and sweet that it could be a dessert easily. Yum! They were also very good and professional about my food allergies and very informative about each of their dishes. Spot on! The place itself was adorable. I loved the atmosphere. Very homey, yet upscale feel. Definitely going back.
Great place. Smaller and quiet. Great snapper and shrimp and grits. Very relaxing with a bottle of wine.
Love, love, love this restaurant! My friends and I planned our trip to Galveston around their schedule. A Cajun touch to the menu & worth the drive down here!
I've eaten at Porch Café several times and enjoyed them all. It may be my favorite restaurant on the island. On the most recent visit, we sat out on the screened porch. It was a nice evening, with gulf breeze. I highly recommend the avocado caesar salad with crab cake.
Out of everything, coffee machine broke, out of pancake mix for pancake bar- no substitutions for bread only bad biscuits - no rye west white, sourdough-Nothing- no English muffins!chef refused to place item on a side plate-empty for a reason. Waitress nice, but could not override chefs inability to leave one item on the side. Allergies.bring an epi pen! Bathroom out of everything too. Have to blame management-millennials running the show. I would go back next year when it is a new restaurant...this cannot continue
Love the shrimp and grits, quail and crab cake.
Group of 4 enjoyed dinner inside due to weather. The screened porch is also very nice. Good food and reasonably priced wine.
Had anniversary dinner here had shrimp and grits perfect portion delicious shrimp.
Gumbo great too!
Formal front but elegant.
Due to off season our wait person was a beat off and although greeted us with Happy Anniversary she never offered us desert but the manager did although late we declined.
We’d go back for brunch seemed like that is what they are known for.
We had Easter brunch, sat outside, beautiful view! There was a buffet, food was average, service was excellent. The reason you go here is for the views! It was a little pricey for what we got but still Would return.
We have been to the Porch for dinner as it was delicious, a good value and good service. We went for Easter Brunch and was disappointed in quality of food and beverage. Food on buffet was dry and not hot. Mimosas were room temperature. Definitely would not go back for brunch.
overpriced for dinning experience. Very slow service, very small portion..i won't coming back
Great food, large quantities. Nice servers.
Porch Cafe is the hilight of every trip I make to Galveston - we do the family fun stuff with fried fish and all, but my kids know that for at least one meal every trip, mom and dad get OUR meal - amazing food - gorgeous place - just a little escape! No trip to Galveston is complete without a meal at Porch Cafe.
Great I will def be back
Brunch was excellent. Menu had a variety of options. The goat cheese appetizer was delicious.
Always a good choice for a quiet dinner just for two or with the family. Service is good. Food is very good, especially the fried green tomatoes for me!
