Popi's Italian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
To find a good, Old School Italian restaurant with parking located near the stadium area in South Philadelphia is just wonderful. The staff are well trained and the food and drink are delicious. This is one of my go to restaurants that has never disappointed for lunch or dinner.
From my first step inside I was impressed. The Italian feel of the restaurant was welcoming and added to the excitement of the meal. I was seated with my girl friend right at a table for two at the window. The waiter was nice and knowledgeable about the menu however, was not very attentive. The food was delicious. I choose a Chicken Parmesan which was excellent. My girlfriend choose a for an appetizer, cup of Chicken pastina soup, her favorite. For her entre' ; Papparadelle pasta with lump crab meat. The dessert however, Cheesecake, was the best I have ever had. It is conveniently located less than 2 miles from the Wells Fargo Center and the The Navy Yard. I'm not from that part of Pa ( south Philly) was there to attend a concert. I would recommend and I will go back when I am in town again.
Had a reservation for dinner before a concert in the area......were seated promptly and asked by server, Nicole, if we were heading to the concert. Service was very good.....restaurant filled up quickly with other concert goers.....service was timely in getting us out to get over to concert. We did have appetizers and desserts as well as dinner. Food was good. Gluten free pasta was available and was nicely done. Beet salad was very good, all entrees were delish. This restaurant has parking. We would definately return, with or without an event in the area.
We were pleasantly surprised at how un-stressful eating out in South Phila could be.
They are right off 76 and have a large, safe parking lot. The service and food was outstanding. Eric was a great waiter who seemed to really care about our dinner. The hostess was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return!
Visiting from Virginia Beach. Ate a Popi's last year and couldn't wait to get back! Went after the Phillies won on Saturday. Was a louder crowd than usual - but fun. Popi's would be great for date night. A couple there was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with 20+ family members. Food is YUMMY. Marsala is good, parm is good, ravioli good, etc. High quality food, good bargain for the $. We will definitely be back. :)
Attractive decor, bright and spacious, convenient to stadiums. We shared caesar salad and veal w/ eggplant in white wine sauce. OK but nothing to recommend. Dressing was too mild for Caesar and had no anchovies. Veal was tender and enough to share, eggplant and flavor lacking. Better desserts. With all the other Italian restaurants in So Philly, I'd choose another place next time in the area.
Have been to Popi's many times for lunch and dinner, always very good food and service. This first attempt at Mother's Day Brunch was just ok. They ran out of a couple entrees and replaced with different selection. Ran out of some desserts. I will continue to dine at Popi's, but not for their Brunch.
Great place to celebrate with family after my graduation at the Kimmel Center. Was looking for something with a menu that would offer family favorites at a reasonable price. The lunch menu featured smaller portions at reasonable prices, which was wonderful and dessert was scrumptious! Convenient to Center City and Sports Complex with off-street parking.
We were seated in a corner at a round table which made for great conversation and family time.
Everyone was happy with their meal. Great experience!
Popis has great food at reasonable prices. My mom and I were waiting to pick up my brother from the Philadelphia airport so we found this restaurant to get a bite and pass the time. We are very happy we did! Our waitress, Jennifer, did a great job of taking care of us and we left happy and fueled for the trip home. Check them out when you are near the sports complexes or airport. You will be happy you did.
We made a special trip to Popi's from the suburbs (worth the drive) then back home to see a movie. My mom has never been there for dinner and she loved it. The server was lovely and the food is fantastic. I had the crab cakes and my mom had eggplant parm. Both Delish!
