Popi's Italian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
What's not to love about Popi's? Great restaurant experience as always. Hit up some old classics this time as we all picked some staples from the regular menu. My dinging companions chose the orecchiette and broccoli rabe with sausage, the dover sole, and I rocked it old school with the veal parm. Just tremendous. This quaint, family restaurant appreciates their customers, provides the correct amount of attention to same and makes sure everything is to your satisfaction. Not to be missed when you're in the city of brotherly love - search out Popi's for classic Italian dining.
Above average italian fare, reasonable prices. Casear salad had too little, almost no dressing. Veal Saltimbuca entre was good. Overall, server was nice but the service was slow and very inattentive. Server only came to the table to deliver each course and when he did, we had to ask for whatever was needed such as filling the glasses that were empty for quite some time. This was on a uncrowded night.
Went here for the first time for Valentine's Day. The foo was just simply delicious! I had the Branzino special which is just out of this world, she had the Chicken Popi, which she loved and it was really good. our waiter was an older gentleman named Johnny and he was straight out of South Philly with the accent, which is where we're from. he was just simply an awesome waiter who gave us genuine service not the fake friendliness. Can't wait to go back!
We absolutely love Popi's! Six and a half years ago, my fiancé and I went on our first date to Popi's and had such a romantic, delicious dinner. The service is great and the atmosphere is so welcoming. We have been back to Popi's several times since our first date and the dining experience and the food have always been very consistent in quality (their pasta is to die for!). We have since celebrated two special occasions there (the first being our engagement and the second being a 14 person party celebration) and the staff was so wonderful and accommodating throughout each occasion. We frequently recommend Popi's to anyone asking for good dinner suggestions and we will surely go back again and again and again! Thanks Popi's!
Very clean and wonderful decor. Food was great and a nice serving size that is not too large or too small. Price just a little high. They had a kids menu. We saw some people there that were headed to the Flyers game (which is nearby) and the wait staff did try to get them out on time to get to the game. They were friendly to our daughter.
Cowboy steak was excellent. Only problem, have to order it a week in advance. Should be on the main menu, so anytime we drop in could enjoy it. Server, Johnny D, was again outstanding. Knew what I like and when to put in the order. Never rushed us, just the way I like it.....
Never knew this restaurant was there, only found it on OpenTable. The menu was great and they also had a number of specials. It wasn't your typical South Philly restaurant were the tables are on top of each other and they throw the meal at you! Loved it and would definitely go back again and recommend it to our friends. Very convenient if you are going to a concert or sporting event. They also
have a parking lot which makes it worth the trip down town to eat!
This is a basic Italian restaurant in South Philly/Packer Park. What sets it apart is the size. Very large, but it's broken up with multiple rooms so it can feel somewhat intimate. We went in December and it was decorated beautifully. The food was just ok. I give them credit for moderate portion sizes and they were easy on the salt and cheese.
The atmosphere is neighborhood friendly.
I would go back to Popi's in an instant. It was my first time there. My daughter and I each had a special - my daughter the Raviolotti in Alfredo Sauce which she devoured (so it must have been good!). I had the crab cakes special. Very tasty. The ratatouille that accompanied it we very good as well. We split a salad. My daughter had the Tirami Su. It was the first time she'd tried that and she finished the entire portion. I had a chocolate banana cake which was very good, if every so slightly dry.
