Great dinner served by wonderful servers
Had some family and friends staying with me on a Monday night and looking for a place to eat only to find that just about every restaurant (other than some fast food places) in the area are closed on Monday's. I had heard good things about Pope's Tavern and while I'm in Easton, Oxford isn't that far and was pleased to find that they are pretty much the only place open on a Monday night! Well, I'm so glad it was open because it was a wonderful experience from the ambiance, the service and the food. We all had different things so we got to taste a few items and each one was well prepared and really delicious. We enjoyed that casual atmosphere and the friendliness of everyone who works there from the server to the owner/chef. It was a wonderful treat and not only will I be back, I'll be sure to recommend this place.
Great food and service
Daily food specials always provide variety
Always delicious and fine food with friendly local atmosphere. The best in town.
Great food, wonderful staff
We had a wonderful experience. The duck and filet were superb - highly recommend and hope they always keep them on the menu!
Went there for lighter fare. Great salads and perfect burgers. First rate.
Pope's once again did not disappoint! We enjoyed a lovely dinner in a cozy, romantic spot. I can think of few lovelier places to have a great fall/winter dinner. The PBJ fois gras appetizer is absolutely delicious and perfectly portioned to share as a starter. The special that night - rockfish - was cooked perfectly and served over a lovely crabmeat infused stuffing. The filet was cooked beautifully and spoon tender. Unfortunately, we didn't save room for dessert, but the temptation was terribly strong! Service was attentive, friendly, and wonderfully paced. We recommend Pope's to our friends and continue to consider it one of the best.
Oxford Inn is one my favorite restaurants on the Eastern Shore. Always great food, good ambience and fun evening.
Busy Waterfowl Festival evening. Service and food was great as expected with a real neighborhood feel in the bar
Great company, attentive staff and wonderful food at a great price. A favorite dinner destination
Friendly staff, great service and a wonderful dinner
A perfect Sunday evening!
We had a great family birthday celebration at Pope's. Service was friendly and timely and food was delicious as usual. We ranged in age from 8 to 80 and everyone was delighted with their meal! An amazing veal chop with chanterelles was the highlight and "order envy" dish of the night.
Salad portions small - take that into consideration when ordering. Filet was small - very thin and as a result tough - wouldn't order it again. The deal and hit of the night were the fried oysters - ordering them during happy hour they were $1 each and delightful.
Enjoyed an unbelievably great rack of veal. Great value, great quality, excellent presentation. Highly recommend
Amazing little gem in the Eastern Shore. We shared the baked oysters and they were excellent. Dinner was amazing too! Will definitely go back. Service was nice and friendly and knowledable with the menu.
Delicious and very enjoyable! Everyone a pleasure.
We started with a caesar salad. I had the duck breast and my husband had the steak frites. Everything was delicious!!!
The fresh fish was delicious and beautifully prepared!
The experience of dining at the Pope's Tavern is like being in a French country home.
The quality of the food was just exceptional.
The entree we both ordered was the filet of flounder with a beure blanc lemon sauce that melted on our tongues. Two generous servings of the fish were placed atop some silky mashed potatoes and spinach. Of the many meals we have eaten, this was in the top 3. It was food for the gods. To complete this very enjoyable meal we decided to order a flourless chocolate tart. The richness and chocolatey flavor was like nothing I have ever eaten.
The chef clearly loves what she does and our only regret is that we live in California
Great dinner with wonderful hosts
Great food and service. Always a delight
Every time we visit Oxford we make sure to dine at Pope's Tavern. Chef Lisa is very creative and the food is always wonderful. Don't miss the gem of a restaurant, you will not be disappointed.
We stopped by on way to Ocean City and it sure was worth the extra 15 minutes to drive from Rt 50! The food was top notch, the chef surprised us with a pasta wrapped/ fried shrimp. Then the crab cake on zoodles (zuchini noodles) was superb as was the panko crusted rockfish on cabbage carbonara (sounds odd but was really good)
So stop by and give Oxford Inn a try! Nice wine list... could have a few more beers available though...
Food was good. Ambiance nice. Lovely service. Easy to find.
We (2) were seated in the empty dining room in front of a window. Two other parties, (3) and (5), were seated one behind each of us, also in front of windows. We were disappointed that their conversations were distracting because they were so close. My noise level selection would be lower if we (or the other parties) had been anywhere else in the dining room. Next time, I would ask to be moved (not much of a view to miss).
Good food, great friendly staff who pick you up at the wharf. Thanks
tuna was perfection! beautifully prepared ~ melt in your mouth. excellent filet, as well. our waitress barb was efficient, knowledgable, and engaging. and the flourless cake was chocolate at its best.
Great as always. My wife and I both had the swordfish. It was delicious! I would highly recommend.
We really enjoyed the restaurant. Lisa the owner was very hospitable and a great chef.
Excellent crab cake over zucchini pasta.
Lovely corner table for four. Waitress was a bit lacking in smiles and attentiveness.
Will definitely return for excellent food.
Excellent food and service.
Great meal. Outstanding seared tuna. Excellent rare steak. Wonderful sides. Excellent drinks/wine. Good value.
We are on special diets and the kitchen was completely accommodating. The chef (Lisa) even came out to discuss the menu with us to make sure we would be pleased and we were! Our chicken breast and sockeye salmon were cooked to perfection! They had nice fresh vegetable selections and they were also cooked perfectly. We'll definitely eat there again!
Sunday brunch/jazz outstanding. Poe's Benedict, crab nicoise, chicken Cesar. Good drinks. great service. Comfortable.
Pope's Tavern is one of our favorite gems on the Eastern Shore - we enjoy the hour plus drive for a meal to remember every time we dine. From the friendly and accommodating staff, to the delectable menu and fresh local food - it is always an experience.
Excellent and interesting menu. I had the rockfish which was delicious -- perfectly cooked. Good wine selection also. Service was good and the dining room is nicely decorated. It is not very large so probably best to make a reservation on a summer weekend. There is also a bar with a bar menu for a very light meal.
Veal chop was incredible, best I've ever had. Everyone loved their food, service was excellent.
We ate at all 5 restaurants here in Oxford during our visit. Pope's tavern was the best experience overall. Food, service, ambiance, it all came together here better than anywhere else in town. None of the others were a disaster, but we enjoyed it here best.
Service was good; food was very good. Not a huge menu but something for most everyone. Some little treat for birthday/anniversary reservations would be nice. Good local place.
Best restaurant in Oxford
