Poor Italian Trattoria & Ristorante serves Vancouver, British Columbia. Poor Italian aims to make authentic and affordable plates of Italian cuisine that would be at home in a fine-dining restaurant. All pastas are hand cut and made to order in house. Additionally, all meats, vegetables and fruits are sourced from local suppliers to ensure freshness. At Poor Italian, diners are continually treated to new surprises from its rotating seasonal menu. All the dishes are bright, vibrant and reminiscent of southern Italy. Popular items include the jumbo scallops with limoncello demi-glace, as well as the roasted sablefish, which is seasoned with Mediterranean salsa, sea salt and lemon. The portions are filling, but diners should save room for dessert, because Poor Italian is well-known for the Sicilian cannoli on its dessert menu.

This was our second visit to Poor Italian Ristorante, and we felt it was even better than our first meal there. The service was attentive and the food was fabulous.

My wife and I have driven by the restaurant many times so for our 28th anniversary we chose it for our dinner. Our server was great, wine was pretty good, starters were excellent and my main course, lasagna was excellent. My wife chose the short rib as her main course and she wasn't thrilled with it. fat to fatty for her liking and she often orders the short rib at other restaurants. prices were reasonable and overall it is a very nice restaurant.

Having grown up with many Italian friends, I've eaten my share of Italian foods. So I can confidently say that the Poor Italian restaurant is one of the best. mushroom risotto was my favorite.

Poor Italian is our go to Italian trattoria without having to go downtown. Seafood and pastas are well prepared and tasty. The food usually comes out hot. Service is professional and friendly. Staff is very accommodating, allowing for substitutions, making dishes not on the menu, rectifying problems without question. Love the antipasti platter, mussels and the al dente pastas. I appreciate the space between the tables and the family friendly atmosphere.

Went to the Poor Italian restaurant for the first time last week while on our way to the theatre. We both started with the caesar salad which was made the old fashioned way with anchovies. Simply delicious. We then moved on to ordering our main course. My partner ordered the lasagna which was huge, and simply delicious. I had the Paccheri e Salsiccia which was homemade large rigatoni like pasta with italian sausage in a creamy tomato sauce. Flavour was good but the pasta was a bit too al dente. Wine list is extensive but a bit pricey. We enjoyed a half liter of Mesi Cabernet Sauvignon which was flavorful and just enough to share. Overall was a great experience and we will likely return.

We have ate here a number of times and have brought out of town guests quite often. It is a great place and everyone has always lived it.

we were a group of five for fathers day dinner. promptly greeted and seated. we all had various different meals, lasagna, short rib, etc. everyone enjoyed their appetizers and meals. we will go back again sometime.
