We know the word "fusion" has been wielded about to justify everything from Hula Burgers to Mexican lasagna. But the East-meets-South brand of fusion happening at Poor Calvin's? It's creative; it's innovative; and it's probably unlike anything you've tasted in the ATL. After working in kitchens around the world, Calvin Phan wanted to shake things up a little. And so, into the mac 'n cheese, the Thai spices went. Now, Calvin's giving Southern staples, like sea bass and fried chicken, a decidedly creative Asian-inspired twist (and a nip of spice, too). He has created innovative dishes, approached in much the same way, leave the hands of Calvin Phan day in and day out. His dedication and attention to detail are evident in each dish and dessert. You won't be disappointed.

Food was amazing as always!
The food, service, and ambiance were outstanding. I’ll definitely visit again when I am back in Atlanta.
Always great food and service
Best service best food and by far the best restaurant in Atlanta
I enjoyed my food but I was not blown away. I will eat there again because the flavor profiles are unique!
Great food and service. Still an ATL favorite!!
The service was extremely amazing. The food was phenomenal
The sea bass, daily special, and dumplings were great. Cocktails were great. Lobster mac and cheese was a little disappointing but still good.
Great experience! I loved it!!!
Dinner with my niece
GREAT SERVICE DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Prices are a bit high and the dining room can be a bit noisy. The food is excellent and the service friendly and efficient.
Amazing server with amazing food !
Food was amazing, very crowed and host seemed to be overwhelmed
Awesome service. The food was so good. I will be back soon
one of the best meals i've had in a really long time! can't wait to come back! i highly recommend!
Excellent from start to finish. Will definitely be back
Great place to eat with friends or a romantic date. Our host Andre provided excellent service! He was very knowledgeable of the menu and had a strong intuition of connecting my group and I with selections that would speak to our individual tastes.
The food is very good and the staff is on point. Thank for a wonderful evening
I brought my six year old son here after a long day at the museums in downtown. Upon arrival we were seated immediately (I love this app!!!).
My son loved the kids fried rice and I enjoyed the calamari and one of Calvin’s daily specials. The restaurant was clean and our waitress Linda was very nice. I would recommend coming here at any time of day for any occassion. I look forward to returning to try the grouper. I opted for a non-menu item this time so I have every reason to come back. I’ll do so gladly.
Delicious food, and our server was both informative and sweet!
Poor Calvins was very nice. The energy there was magic. I enjoyed every bit of my food. The severs there are very nice and humorous. Very Knowledgeable on the business. Love it must go
I’ve been here plenty of times and I keep returning for the same reasons. Poor Calvin’s, to me provides everything you want in a dining experience. Beautiful ambiance, consistent GREAT customer service, and most importantly, the food is amazing. And when I say amazing, I’m not exaggerating. Personally I don’t care for places that have a nice ambiance, provide a cute place to take pictures , all to find out that the food is subpar. That is why Poor Calvin’s will always be my first choice for dining, because I know for a fact I will not be disappointed. I’ve been coming here the last 5 years of me living in Atlanta and I can’t name a time that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed myself. Also- I’m from New York- so naturally I’ve been exposed to great food and have a certain expectation. Poor Calvin’s falls right in line, if anything exceeds my expectations for a dining experience.
We decided to do a restaurant hop for spring break and decided to try Poor Calvins, this was a great idea. We had the salmon fritters to start which had a little bit of heat, second course was lobster fried rice and the grouper (both were amazing), for dessert we had the pound cake(OMG)..This place is so amazing and service was great as well. Honorable mention our waitress was Ashley, she was super knowledgeable and gave awesome suggestions, super pleasant and attentive. The experience on whole was great and we will definitely visit again..
Took my daughter here for her birthday and we both loved this place. The food was great and the service.
Super courteous and friendly staff and FLAVORFUL FOOD. What more is there to say?
Easter brunch with family
Amazing amazing amazing!
The service and food is impeccable. The host and wait staff are welcoming and charming. Please note an 18% gratuity is automatically added to the bill but no complaints from us. The delicious food and service are worth every dime!!!! The martinis are strong just the way I like mine. It was an amazing brunch!
I enjoyed the food. The meals were a little pricey!
Food is good; however, they seem to have a problem with serving “hot” food. It’s typically warm
It is simply delicious.
We had 4 people in our dinner party and each appetizer and entree was delicious
What a gem! The hosts are cute as can be! I had one of the best salmon dishes ever! Our server Louise was a delight!
Can’t wait to return!
Hands down the best food I’ve had in many years - has got to be the best restaurant in Atlanta. Definitely a “food experience” :)
Great staff and food was good. Drinks were very tasty also
Everything was great!
Awesome birthday lunch for my daughter! One of my favorite restaurants, and now hers. Excellent food and service.
It was great!!! It was our first time visiting and it definitely won’t be the last. The service was excellent, the waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and recommendations. The food was delicious and it came out fast!
