The food was excellent, highly recommend to anyone!
Poor Calvin's is a phenomenal occasional treat. Everything on the menu is simply decadent. The lobster mac and cheese is a favorite. For this visit I dined on the lobster mac, lobster hush puppies and Chilean Sea Bass. The sea bass was a little bigger than Ivw had at other restaurants, but the taste was simply delicious, moist and flavorful. Its served with bok choy, a creamy sauce and jasmine rice. The white cake for dessert was absolutely delicious, moist, infused with liquor, and mildly sweet. Perfect. The venue is intimate and a bit chilly, so bring a sweater. Linda was our waitress. She was very knowledgeable of the menu, personable, polite. The drinks are outstanding try their version of the long island iced tea called the Tiki Iced Tea. It has vodka, whiskey, etc.
AJ was an awesome server!
Poor Calvin's happens to be one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. I don't know why I don't go there more often. SMH! This Saturday, I dined with 4 people from out of town. They were very pleased and happy that I brought them there. See you next time!
My visit to Poor Calvin's is always remarkable. The food and service are consistent. I had the seafood omelet and sweet potato waffles. My guy had the shrimp and grits and fried lobster tail. The sangria is my go to every time. AJ was our server and she is very knowledgeable.
Lowla is always a joy with her personality and attentiveness.
Great mix of Asian and southern food, excellent service, need to go again to try more of the menu because everything was good!
Ask for Lowla!!! She’s the BEST!
Very very impressed. Great flavors. Inventive dishes. Quality portions. Great job all around.
Outstanding as usual. I always carry close friends and family to Poor Calvin’s for an overall experience of great food, good vibes, fantastic desserts, and refreshing cocktails!!!
It was for my best friend’s bday. Even though we made a reservation, we couldn’t sit for about 30min because the lady who was in charge of sitting customers, she told us we couldn’t sit until everyone shows up. I know some restaurants are like that, but there were like 200ppl in that little restaurant and my birthday friend had to stand in a tiny area in heels for 30min. Yes my birthday friend got a little grumpy :/
Even after everyone showed up, the lady kept letting other groups sit like she couldn’t even see us (we were standing next to her). After we got sit, we got greeted by our server, ordered drinks , ordered food, everything was good. He didn’t come check on us after he served us the food but oh well.
Food was excellent. My cocktail was great. I ordered Pho. I don’t know if it’s supposed to be like this, but it was less than a half filled. Is it supposed to be like that? It’s $13 not cheap for 1/2 cup.
But, I was also disappointed that even though I emailed them in the morning to remind them that it was my best friend’s bday, and told them to remind the server about birthday service to make things go smooth. they didn’t remember it.... ha....
I told the server we needed the cake to go because we were running late to the next stop about 40 min. He came to our table with the bday cake and a candle on a plate. Thanks dude.... but that made us super late to the next stop for like an hour.
Overall, great food, bad experience.
Omg! There was nothing "Poor" about this place. The customer service was stellar. The food was rich and full of flavor. The drinks were strong and aesthically pleasing. The entrees were beautifully seasoned and extra yummy and the teamwork in this place...management should be proud. There was little to no wait time. I couldn't help but eye hustle peoples plates...everything looked amazing. Last but not least the desserts were huge, enough for the table (red velvet cake). Definitely coming back!
Service was outstanding and the food and menu choices are incredible. Has to be the best Asian fusion in the South. I'll have to go back.
Best lamb chops ever!! The desert we awesome, peach tart with ice cream
Appetizers and entrees were amazing. Flavorful and fresh. Desserts looked delicious as well but was too full from the rest that we couldn’t partake.
Food, service and ambiance was great. Would go again.
We had an 1130 reservation and were seated promptly. Deviled eggs, tom yum soup, seafood eggroll(flavor profile was odd but ingredients were fresh) chicken and waffles, shrimp fried rice.
All ingredients were fresh. Tiki Punch and Sangria were well balanced
Entire Poor Calvin’s staff is fantastic.
EVERY meal I've had at Poor Calvin's has been amazing. The portions are massive, the flavors are robust, the ambiance, the SERVICE. Nikita was our server and she carried herself with so much poise and class, we were blown away with how "on top of her game" she was. I already knew the kitchen would be on top of their game because the management and ownership has a formula for a fabulous success. Poor Calvin's is ALWAYS a MUST for any visit of mine to Atlanta. I will be back but I decided that from my very first visit
Overall excellent experience! Great food and the best customer service ever!
The experience was remarkable! The server was amazing! Very descriptive! The food was fantastic! Lobster fried rice was so good!
This dish was so delicious, I also enjoyed the Green fried tomatoes. I will definitely be back to try more!
Poor Calvin's is by far one of my favorite restaurants! The food is always awesome. The service was exceptional & our waitress (Sha- na-na) is ALWAYS great. Always have been an excellent dining experience.
The service was outstanding. The food is full of flavor and in some cases too much flavor. Suggest confirming the level of spice per dish before ordering.
A little pricey but portions very filling and great experience overall! Very welcoming staff and waiter. Drinks unique.
Food was creative and atmosphere charming. Noise level high and cramped seating. Prices high for the value.
This is our favorite place! Calvin is a genius! His mastery of flavors, colors and presentation is beyond!
He creates beautiful pictures that melt in your mouth. The staff is amazingly attentive. The crafted drinks are just as beautiful. Lowla , our waitress, is just amazing..she is just a vital part of our experience..all the time. We love her, love it there!! Just go and prepare to be amazed!!!
Love this place
We go every time we are in Atlanta
Went for my 5 year anniversary and it was great. My wife loves seafood so this place was perfect as they have some great seafood dishes. Although not a cheap place the amount of food they give you definitely allows you to get the most bang for your buck. Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Will definitely be back!
Great unique Asian infused cuisine! My favorites are the lobster fried rice and sangria!
Lola is awesome. Ask for her if you get the chance. Always upbeat and very knowledgeable. Great food and service.
Love, love, love everything about their food, signature drinks and especially Calvin & his outstanding staff. They are a blast. We go to eat there 3 out of the 4 nights we are in Atlanta. Had the halibut special. Wow is all I can say. Love it all💕🍾🍷
First of all, I want to discuss the parking. It sucks! You will have to find parking on the street as their tiny parking lot only holds about five cars. They have a few spaces in the front. I wanted to park at the Publix and post office down the street, however, there are signs preventing you to do so. I parked on the side street next to the post office with designated spaces. I had to pay $4.00 for 2 hours. There is a pay machine next to the spaces.
Okay...once my friend and I walked a block away from our cars, we entered the restaurant and was pleasantly pleased with the interior of the establishment. I walked up to the hostess and let her know that we were late due to finding a parking space. She was able to seat us without waiting. Yeah!!! It is very cozy if you know what I mean. You can hear the conversations of the other parties next to you. I noticed the guests that was sitting to my right ordered the dish (Lobster Fried Rice) I was going to order. First, I tried the calamari. It was okay. The best calamari is at The Atlanta Fish Market. Then, my dish came out...the fried rice tasted bland to me. I feel if I added some soy sauce and other spices it would awaken my taste buds. The lobster needed something too, but I couldn't put my hands on it. It was not a bad dish at all, I would try it again, but ask the server to add more spices to it.
Service was terrible.
Reservations were not timely.
Overall experience was disappointing.
Food was exceptional. Looking forward to my next visit. Good service and cocktails were inventive. Place is small and a little crowded but well worth it. Best meal so far in Atlanta.
Awesome service! Food is always the best! Fun Drinks!
The Lobster Fried Rice is so creative and delicious
Food was AWESOME, service was terrific and the ambience was perfect! I LOVED everything abut Poor Calvin's
All was good except when we came in there was a drunk right when we entered and gave the person I was with a uncomfortable time, could not get to our table soon enough
fantastic as always
