We know the word "fusion" has been wielded about to justify everything from Hula Burgers to Mexican lasagna. But the East-meets-South brand of fusion happening at Poor Calvin's? It's creative; it's innovative; and it's probably unlike anything you've tasted in the ATL. After working in kitchens around the world, Calvin Phan wanted to shake things up a little. And so, into the mac 'n cheese, the Thai spices went. Now, Calvin's giving Southern staples, like sea bass and fried chicken, a decidedly creative Asian-inspired twist (and a nip of spice, too). He has created innovative dishes, approached in much the same way, leave the hands of Calvin Phan day in and day out. His dedication and attention to detail are evident in each dish and dessert. You won't be disappointed.

                                                                          The food is absolutely amazing, and the service was equally great. Unfortunately, my issue with this particular restaurant is their practice of automatically adding a tip to your final bill without informing you. They then add a section on your final bill for additional tip. This creates an issue if customers don’t carefully review the final check, they may inadvertently provide additional tip in excess of what they might want to give. Our final bi was $168.45, which included a tip of $24.70 (19%). I inadvertently added an additional 20% tip of $34.69 for a final total of $202.14. This practice is intentionally design to rob customers of their hard earn money. The server was amazing, and I would have gladly offered him a significant tip. However, to design the ticket in such a way that misleads customers feel shady as hell. PAY attention to you check. Do not trust this restaurant to be transparent.

                                                                          Fantastic experience. Our waitress was outstanding, giving detailed descriptions of dishes and made recommendations that did not disappoint. Cocktails and food were amazing and atmosphere was both beautiful and interesting.

                                                                          Food and service were good as always but disappointed our main meals came out at different times. Two of the meals were incorrect and had to go back. One dish was still incorrect but we didn’t send back as my daughter had already finished her meal. Mistakes happen and we do love this restaurant so will return.

                                                                          This is my favorite restaurant in Atlanta! I bring everybody here because the food & service are top tier & never disappoint! The servers are knowledgeable & are great guides for the uninitiated. I had the fried green tomatoes with beef as an appetizer & the sea bass for my entree My companion had the specials - “money bags” (gently fried wontons with crab & lobster) as the appetizer & pan seared branzino. Everything, as always, was delicious & prepared with Chef’s kiss! We finished with a light crème brûlée. You just can’t go wrong here!

Warm and welcoming from check in, dining service friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, excellent food seasoned perfectly, and all the staff that was able said “good bye, have a nice night, thank you for dining with us, see you again.”
