We know the word "fusion" has been wielded about to justify everything from Hula Burgers to Mexican lasagna. But the East-meets-South brand of fusion happening at Poor Calvin's? It's creative; it's innovative; and it's probably unlike anything you've tasted in the ATL. After working in kitchens around the world, Calvin Phan wanted to shake things up a little. And so, into the mac 'n cheese, the Thai spices went. Now, Calvin's giving Southern staples, like sea bass and fried chicken, a decidedly creative Asian-inspired twist (and a nip of spice, too). He has created innovative dishes, approached in much the same way, leave the hands of Calvin Phan day in and day out. His dedication and attention to detail are evident in each dish and dessert. You won't be disappointed.

Phenomenal restaurant with outstanding food and ambiance. The fusion of Asian cuisine is phenomenal. This is my go to restaurant every time I’m in Atlanta and they never disappoint me.
Excellent from more than just our waitress. Everyone was super helpful. Food was amazing as always!! Will definitely be back!!
Excellent as always! The team there is amazing, knowledgeable & anticipate your needs! The sea bass. & crispy beef lobster was delicious HOWEVER the peach empanadas took the cake! Sooo deliciously sinful. Coming back whenever I’m in town
Everything was good except unlike the other tables they were asked if they were celebrating a special occasion and I wasn't. When I made the reservation I even put we were there to celebrate an anniversary, but received no acknowledgement
Had an awesome time with my partner. Louise took care of us and made it a pleasant first time visit!
I've been here a couple of times, but usually during the week when it's less busy. I decided to join a friend for brunch, and it was a livelier atmosphere. Was the food good? Yes. Was it slightly overpriced? Also, yes. It's still worth a visit.
I brought my fiancé here for his birthday. He’s a real foodie and we were both immediately impressed with the menu, ambiance, and service. The food was amazing! We tried the specials that evening as well as a few regular menu items. Our server was a 10. She described every item of interest to aid us in deciding and checked on us frequently. I was so impressed, definitely going back!
I’ve visited Poor Calvin’s twice. Once for brunch & once for dinner. Both times, the food was phenomenal & they give you a rather large portion of food as well which is great. My only qualm with restaurant is for the prices that they charge the ambiance is simply not up to par, it is very on queue with a seafood shack. I’ve had fine dining experiences with the same & cheaper price ranges with an exquisite dining room.
The hosting staff was amazing. Waitress was awesome and offered suggestions. Chef Calvin was present and I’m glad to be able to experience his talent. I will most definitely return.
Great service. Good food.
The place is small and cozy but we still felt like we were in our own space. The menu is so impressive, my date and I promised to come back and try everything on the menu. Our entrees were delicious - lamb chops and a seafood medley.
Poor Calvin’s is literally our favorite restaurant in Atlanta. The chef is a genius and creates such an amazing menu you can’t find anywhere else in this city. We recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special night out. Truly top notch.
Always magnificent. My absolute favorite. Indoor and outdoor dining options.
The staff bent over backwards to accommodate a last minute change (increase) in our group.
Amazing Experience as always everything we ordered was expertly executed and incredibly pleasing to the pallet! Me and the Wife loves Poor Calvins and always make sure to visit anytime we are in Atlanta!
Food is amazing would definitely return ……………………..
The food was delicious, the server was very detailed with the food and drink descriptions and the restaurant decor is very nice.
It was a beautiful romantic experience! The food, drinks and service were all top notch!!
My wife treated me to Poor Calvin’s for my birthday and it was awesome! I had the Smoked Duck and Tiger Prawns and my wife had the Crispy Beef! Both of our meals were delicious! We also had the Lobster Wontons and that was amazing! For cocktails my wife had the Red Sangria and I had the El Diablo, which we both really enjoyed! Poor Calvin’s remains our favorite Restaurant in Atlanta. Even though we did notice that their prices has increased on their meals.
Always an amazing experience!!! Always top not service and the food is out of this world. Attention is paid to the details, even the very small ones and that is why we keep coming back.
Shout out to the cocktails …they don’t get enough love in these reviews. I had the Pho and it was the most unique, delicious, delectable drink I ever had. I couldn’t identify the spices but they were tangy and umami and ticklish and ever so yummy. I wanted to chug it and wanted at least 15.
We had the fried green tomatoes, lobster won ton, lobster fried rice and the Thai curry in the pineapple. All so delicious and satisfying. Our server was fantastic and got us a complimentary suspension cake as we were celebrating a birthday !!
I took 1 star away from the service for the reception. We were coming from Alpharetta and budgeted an hour to get there but were running late due to horrible traffic situations and called the restaurant to say we’d be a 10/15 mins late and Felicia who answered was very firm that they would not hold the table more then 15 minutes. I absolutely understand not holding a table indefinitely but if you’re able to accommodate you should show a little grace. We called again as we were just pulling in at the 16 min mark and requested they hold the table and she agreed. But as I went to the reception there were 2 girls ahead who did not have a reservation got seated and also all the tables were not occupied inside. Moral of the story: don’t be aloof and arrogant if you can avoid it.
Hands down one of the best places I have ever eaten. Awesome food and fantastic service.
Flavor flavor flavor!! Loved the crispy beef with lobster tail..
Enough to feed both my husband & I.
Service is impeccable!
Don’t miss the pound cake dessert..
The Lobster Fried Rice is the BEST! Service is always top notch and I got to meet Calvin himself!
Their lamb meatloaf special and pork bun sliders were absolute perfection! I hope they add this to their regular menu!
Awesome experience. I had the fried chicken, lobster Mac and Cheese, and collared greens. Everything was delicious.
The food is great. I mean everything we had was off the chain. I'm defintely going back. Regardless of what you order you gonna need a to go bag. Excellent 5 stars....
The sea bass was to die for. Best sea bass dish I ever had in my life period. The lobster wontons are always amazing. Only thing I wouldn’t recommend was the fried chicken - it was way too crispy to the point of being inedible and quiet dry. But everything else was just amazing.
Awesome I will definitely be going back.
This restaurant, billed as an Asian fusion concept, features interesting, delicious cuisine. The fried calamari was the best I've ever tasted, the lobster wontons were rich enough to order as a dessert, and both entrees (duck and shrimp with thai BBQ sauce and seafood melange spaghetti) were exquisite and unique. An expensive date, but totally worth it.
Best experience ever
Fantastic food and fantastic service. The smoked duck was the best duck I have ever had.
Great Ambience. Excellent Service, and the Food and portions was out of this world
Everything was great from the ambiance, the drinks, main course and dessert. Anthony was our server and he was top notch!
Louise was very knowledgeable and personable. She treated us like we were dining in her home. It was also nice to see Calvin himself was onsite and he interacted with us as well. I will definitely return.
The lobster wontons! The duck! The peach cobble empanadas! Everything was delicious and our server, Sylvia was well informed and a delight!
The food, drinks, and service were all amazing! We had the fried green tomatoes with beef and it was incredible, fried and spiced perfectly. My husband had the pad Thai and I had the crispy beef. Both were wonderful. We can’t recommend this place enough
It was amazing and the service exceptional. I will continue to return.
