Poor Boy's Riverside Inn
Happy birthday celebration. Lee Ann was a wonderful server!
Excellent food and service! We frequently dine at Poorboy’s Riverside and we’re never dissatisfied.
Not worth the money for the amount of food you get. I left still hungry.
Our server was Tiffany, who was excellent. She deserves 5 stars. Experience was awesome, we will be back.
Had a reservation for 4 on Easter Sunday. My husband and I arrived on time, but within 20 minutes found out that our friends would be arriving nearly an hour past our reservation due to a misunderstanding of where they would meet us. The restaurant was fine and did not seem to be bothered by this, possibly because they were not completely full. Our server was just ok, did not seem interested in being there, but was adequate. The food was outstanding, and has come way up from a couple of years ago, when I swore I would never go back. Apparently they have made some changes in the kitchen, and all of us had a very delicious experience, save for the waitstaff being mediocre. Note to restaurant, if a server has long hair, please ask them to put in a bun or braid, it was unappetizing watch that very long hair swinging around our table and over the serving trays. I know, I'm being unkind I guess, but it bothered me.
With reservations we were seated on time; prices little high for quantity of servings; but with soup of the day given, makes up somewhat; server was very pleasant and efficient; noise level little loud (customers' fault); will be back.
Have eaten there (even old location) for many, many years. Service is excellent (ask for the complimentary relish tray) nice cloth napkins and the freshest picked crab meat. Request a window table overlooking the pond.
Moved away so had not been in there for 15+ years. Still excellent! We will be back soon
Flounder was moist and tasty. Worth a return trip. Son says his Stuffed Redfish was great as well. He was really pleased that "grilled vegetables" was not the usual squash/zucchini trash most restaurants serve.
Amazing food!! Wonderful, friendly service!!
Started off with a cup of the Seafood Gumbo, was very good, almost as good as my mother in-law's (that is saying a lot!). We had the Whole Flounder and Stuffed Redfish, both were outstanding. Even the bread was top notch. Friendly wait staff and even a nice view, for a place located in what can only be described as an industrial area.
Our server was great...the food tasted very inauthentic. Tasted like all frozen and reheated. The raccoons outside being hand fed was the cap on my experience. It just seemed gross and unsanitary. Saw the staff hand feed the animals, she came back in and proceeded to work, never washing her hands. Also, staff walked around just eating food in front of guests, again no one washing hands.
ALWAYS ENJOYABLE and DELICIOUS. ONE OF OUR FAVORITE PLACES TO EAT
It’s never a disappointment when dining. The food, service and hostess were awesome!!!
My husband has been here and totally loved it in the past. I enjoyed the evening, but the charming locale, the raccoons that visited near the windows outside while we dined, and the local color are what made it lovely for me. My husband was disappointed by his food. The crabcakes were undercooked. Our service was mediocre at best. Our waitress was distracted by a large party she was serving adjacent to us and neither our bread nor our drinks arrived in a timely manner. We only ate out two nights in the Lafayette area and had traveled here from Memphis so we were very disappointed in the service and the food.
Love the food at this restaurant. I love the fact that all staff knows the menu backwards and forwards. It was a busy night yet everyone was right on.
Very welcoming and accommodating. The food and service was excellent!
We were in town for a family wedding and celebrated my daughter’s 30th birthday. The service was friendly and fairly quick even though we were a party of 10. We thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer platters our server suggested as well as our meals. Good variety of heart healthy options as well as traditional seafood dishes.
Great atmosphere too!
Seafood was not fresh. Frozen seafood should not be served at such high prices. My son and his girlfriend ordered the half & half plate and when the food came to the table, we thought they must have ordered from the kiddie menu. Not worth the prices.
Wonderful dinner with a lovely setting and attentive service
For Christmas Eve, could've been better staffed. Wait for food was much too long. We had to hurry to eat entree. Men's bathroom was out of order, disgusting.
The meal was excellent and served in a timely manner. Everything was fine until we were suddenly rushed to finish. Boxes for food to take home were brought before we were finished eating. Dishes were cleared while we were still eating. Then, when we wanted a dessert menu and coffee we suddenly had to go into waiting mode while other diners were waited on. It was obvious that extra tables were brought in for this Christmas Eve night as it was so close between tables. It was a shame that we got the rush treatment because the rest of the meal was wonderful and our waitress was great.
ALWAYS one of the BEST restaurants in Lafayette for local cuisine!!
Service at lunchtime was very slow, and restaurant was nearly empty.
Great food , service and atmosphere ! Had reservations & enjoyed some family time over a delicious meal . Stuffed Red fish, Sauteed Crab meat , Chicken Andou Gumbo & Stuffed Potato were tasty. Rolls could have been larger, softer and not so over baked. Our server was very attentive & very professional, not overly talkative like at some restaurants. A little on the pricey side. Family of 4 adults cost about $ 125. Will return in the future, you should try out this restaurant also !
Food was good except the etouffee and crab cake portions of my crab dinner were room temp.
We consistently have great food at this restaurant! It is one of our favorites for seafood!
So sorry to give you a less that excellent review.
Half of our food was excellent, and the other couple's seafood platter was way below your standards... so over-fried. I really played up your restaurant, having been there before, and when their entree' came out, I was embarrassed.
My husband had the grilled pork chops which were excellent, and I had the grilled tilapia with crabmeat dressing which was excellent also.
As much as I regret telling you this, our experience was just not that good.
Food and service were excellent. Everyone in our party enjoyed their dinners. Our server was outstanding! Great setting also. Don't miss this hidden gem!
This place was highly recommended To us by the hotel we were staying at as we were traveling thru. We were wanting authentic Cajun food but must say we were not impressed. I had the oyster platter and it was truly almost all breading that just was not flavorful at all. My wife had a crab platter and felt the same way. It was overall OK at best but I would not recommend or return based on our experience.
Had a reservation and was on time
We were told we would be seated at a certain table
But a group that came in after us was seated at that table that was well lit
Instead we were seated in an area that was dark we couldn’t hardly see menu or food
Service was just ok even though it did not seem busy
Food took a long time to come out
Would not recommend this place
Always amazing food and service!!!!
Food was excellent!! Love their lump crabmeat sautéed in butter!!
This was a birthday celebration for myself. The service was not fast at all. Although we were a party of 12 and 1 child, it took at least 25-30 minutes to get our drinks. And then to top it off our waiter brought out burnt bread and told us that they had a bad batch of bread, but yet he still served it to us. Did he not think that we were not going to notice the bread was burned? Yes, of course we did. He also brought the wrong order for my husband after waiting another 30 minutes to get our food. I felt that the portion size was NOT worth the price we paid. I ordered the Shrimp dinner and the platter it came on should have been used for appetizers. I'm sorry but this will not be a place that I recommend nor will I be back.
This is one of my favorites in Lafayette area and is an annual appointment when I’m in for an anniversary. It is sometimes difficult to get in, so reservations are a good idea. The food is authentic as is the atmosphere. A little hard to find as it is located in an industrial area. But they have a new sign up visible from 90 so that helps. It will be underwater in floods though.
One of the best places in Lafayette for old fashioned Cajun seafood dinners! All staff delightful too!
Service was excellent. Food was good, serving plates too small!
Great food. Service was a little slow but it all worked out. Made a reservation yet table was not ready when we arrived. We even called letting them know we were on our way yet about 5 minutes late. Had to wait about 10-15 minutes for our table. Food was great though and worth the wait.
Raccoons everywhere including next to the entrance. They said they just want to be fed. Seems like a health issue.
This was my first time at Riverside. The property is beautiful. We enjoyed our time outside viewing the wildlife as much as the meal. The food was delicious and the ambience perfect for our gathering of friends. We will definitely be back.
