Great food and excellent service and attention. Highly recommend!
We first discovered Ponty's years ago in mid-town Manhattan by chance while strolling through the neighborhood. It swiftly became a favorite. When my travels brought me to NY, my very first stop - with large suitcase in tow - would be at Ponty's. Back then, Ponty's was very tiny but I had no shame in hauling this huge piece of baggage and the staff was so accommodating they would help me tuck it away.
On my current trip to NY, I of course looked Ponty's up only to find out that the restaurant had moved to Harlem. We were pleased to see that Ponty's new location allowed it to triple or even quadruple in size. The ambience is better than ever with live jazz to boot. (We were there on a Thursday night.)
I have never been disappointed at Ponty's and this evening was no exception. I had the Sea Bass with Risotto, which could not have been more perfect. Other tasty foods on the table were: Moules Africana as an appetizer; grilled whole Branzino; stuffed Flounder alla Papillote; and Roasted Chicken. The rolls were served hot and had a little crunch on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect for sopping up the very tasty sauce from the mussels.
This evening marked another perfect dining experience at Ponty's Bistro, from the exotic drinks, appetizers, rolls to entrees. I did not have dessert this evening but I've had it in my past visits and they also did not disappoint. And let's not forget the customer service. It was impeccable! Thanks for the hospitality, Chef Cisse!
I'll be back! :)
Amazing ! Well seasoned it was nice and calm place to have brunch.
Great menu with diverse food and cocktails. Excellent service.
Wir haben hier ein köstliches Sonntagsfrühstück genossen. Sehr guter, freundlicher Service.
AmaZing whole fish. Full of flavor.
Ponty Bistro is a neighborhood restaurant for my family and we have dined there several times. We were extremely disappointed with the food this evening. The fish and chips dish used frozen breaded fish rather than freshly breaded fish and the steak was difficult to chew.
Great ambiance with good food at reasonable prices.
I've never written a review on OT but I wanted to single out Ponty Bistro for handling our large party of 12 so comfortably. Service was warm, fast and intelligent with great recommendations. We ordered the gamut, from Senegalese specialties to hanger steak to Truffle Mac and Cheese. Everything was delicious, well-seasoned, hot and tasty--not easy with this crowd. Wonderful neighborhood vibe, super friendly. I got the feeling there are a lot of regulars here, for good reason!
Always a great time at Ponty Bistro
I had a late dinner with two friends. We ordered two appetizers, escargot and French cheese puffs. The escargot was delicious. I then ordered shrimp scampi with linguine. The portion was large. I wasn't able to finish it. One friend ordered the Lobster Roll. She loved it. The other ordered the Asian Steak Salad. She loved it and commented that the steak was cooked just right. We then split a sundae for dessert. I would definitely return.
Everything was absolutely great. Didn't get to take a pic of our apps. The Caesar Salad and the Crispy Tuna. It looked so good, we completely forgot. The service was excellent. Very professional and accommodating. And the food just explodes with flavor. This excutive chef is good enough to be on TV cooking shows and cook-off's.
Very inviting place; nice atmosphere, and interesting and tasty food.
Love this spot. Every time I go there I have a good time. The music played allows for conversation and the crowd is well mannered. This place is lit!
Great food...average ambiance
It was Valentine's Day so the restaurant was extremely overwhelmed and unable to manage the number of customers that came in. It was very crowded so the space was crazy packed. I hope it isn't set up that way every night, but I may not go back to find out.
Wonderful really enjoy my time and the food delicious
Love this restaurant and its sister Renaissance. Truffle mac and cheese and wings are to die for!!!
Nice spot. Good food and drinks.
Such a beautiful atmosphere. Great music and amazing food. The wine list is outstanding and the customer service is superb!
Unbelievably delicious food - great, attentive service - nice atmosphere. The place felt new, energetic and upbeat. 10/10!
Great fusion of Senegalese and French, with the Former assuming a higher influence and for that, it is outstanding. Merci!
A nice neighborhood spot with good food and a helpful staff. And they accept reservations for Sunday brunch which is a MUST! We'll be back!
I love this place. The food is delicious. The staff are very nice folks. You want to visit. Don't miss out.
Had a great meal and it's a fun place. great for groups, great for a fun night out. Will definitely go back!
The service was good . The only reason it didnt get 5 starts was because two things I asked for they didn’t have. Other then that the food was good.
The food was good, but service poor - only one waiter to cover the entire restaurant during brunch.
The fish massa with bronzino was EXCELLENT. Absolutely delicious. Next time I am in NYC I will be back! Good wine selection and good service too.
Best mussels in the city. Wonderful overall. Kid friendly.
Loved the vibe, friendliness and diverse menu. Great DJ. Noise level appropriate. Could easily still hold a table conversation.
Wonderful spot for ladies brunch on a Wednesday. We enjoyed cocktails and lovely entrees. Service was attentive but not overly so. Highly recommend!
I really enjoyed my visit to Ponty Bistro. Mo was an excellent server and was a great source of recommendations. We started off with a shared order of the Mussels. They are a MUST if you come to Ponty Bistro - I recommend the Moules Africana - I loved dipping my bread into the sauce. Spicy but delicious. The Fish and Chicken Yasso were wonderful. The only disappoint was the Niokolokoba (grilled sirloin steak marinated with Senegalese spices). The meat was very tough. The table next to us had the skirt steak and that looked like it might have been a more tender cut of meat. I will definitely come back!
Excellent food, service, ambience. LOUD!
All food was excellent - scallops, salmon, apple tart. Will definitely go back.
Good food in a bright and energetic atmosphere. People were having fun and the staff was great.
My wife and I had brunch early Saturday morning. She had the Lobster Egg Benedict; and I the Sisse Pancake. The restaurant is advertised as Franco-African. I suspect that it is in fact Senegalese. The decor was mildly reminiscent of Africa: it was industrial-modern, but with dark and warm hue. Lots of dark grays, blues, brown, and British-tan leather. It was very beautiful.
Our waiter was friendly, but not too much, slightly haute remove, but natural and not forced. Surprisingly, he was very attentive and accommodating. Surprisingly, only because he was the only staff on the floor, and the restaurant got packed quickly.
Now the food. The food was very good. Well spiced. Tasty. Fresh. Hot. My only reservation is that the food did not elicit any African experience or feeling. It was very Western and very typical continental. No African spice; no African drinks; no African sides. Nothing African. Not because we sought the exotic, but because we wanted to savor the Chef’s incorporating of his/her African roots. I thought the restaurant could have thrown a little Africa, just to “spice” things up. Rather than serve, “home fries” with the Eff Benedict, it could have served fried Yucca, or Cassava. The Sisse pancake could have been accompanied by Senegalese fruits.
To the Chef: Be brave. Be proud of your African Roots. New Yorkers would embrace it.
Tasty brunch. Prefect Bloody Mary. Admired the decor of the restaurant. Will be back to try more of the menu!
Very great food. Professional service. Sophisticated airy vibes. Definitely a different world from the outside. Absolutely coming back.
Loved the food, and drinks. Always great ambiance at Ponty. Great place for some authentic African dinner/meal in Harlem. Kudos to the staff, and owner. Keep it up.
