Ponti Seafood Grill is a Seattle dining scene landmark. It serves a wide range of market fresh fish in its Italianate villa that sits on a cliff overlooking the Fremont bridge. The ingredients are always fresh and include wild-caught seafood and local produce. There is also a full bar and extensive wine list to complement the Ponti Seafood Grills various dishes.
Some of the dishes at Ponti Seafood Grill include fresh albacore tuna tartare, white Gulf prawns, Dungeness crab spring rolls and steamed Penn Cove mussels for starters. The restaurant offers larger plates like grilled Alaska halibut, wild sockeye salmon and English pea risotto.
Soooo good! Very sorry you closed the next day on July 2, 2016. 😟
Too late. Ponti is now closed, forever. Sigh. One of Seattle's best restaurants gone.
We chose Ponti's for a small celebration of our 15th wedding anniversary because we knew it would be wonderful--and it was. Love love love the ahi tuna with the tempura coating wrapped with seaweed. Great service, attentive and full of personal character. Excellent ambiance, no matter whether in the main dining room, the bar area or the balcony seating. Plus, thank you to the manager for accommodating us by adding an extra guest at the last minute.
It is a tragedy that this unique, gorgeous and excellent seafood restaurant is closing- what a loss to Seattle.
One of my favorite Seattle restaurants. You Weill be missed.
The restaurant is closing. The party is over. Our meal was wonderful. I hope the staff can find new homes
We are devastated that Ponti is closing. They were obviously short staffed for such a busy Monday, so service was a little slow, but the food was amazing. I suspect that the crowd was trying to soak up the last few days before they close. Our ceasar salad was delicious, and my halibut was perfectly prepared. My husband had the chicken, and it was great too. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the wine list and pairings, and the pinot gris he recommended was a perfect accompaniment to our meal.
I've been driving past Ponti since I was a kid, and I wish we hadn't delayed my first trip there to the week they were closing. Best of luck to the owners, and I hope that this is just one big marketing ploy to drive business and they're really staying open forever (PLEASE!!)
Thank you for 26 years of fantastic memories!!! And best of luck in all of your future lives and so heartwarming to hear that all the employees decided to stay until the very last opening day!
The owners are retiring so sadly Ponti's is closing. Will miss this great restaurant.
So sorry that Ponti's is closing. It's one of our favorite restaurants and the end of an era. Thanks to all at Ponti's who have made our events, special occasions and every day dining an exceptional pleasure. You're going to be missed!
Wonderful restaurant for many years - so sad that they are closing due to the retirement of the owner and restauranteur Richard Malia. Big sigh . . . many happy memories!
Great dinner once again! The seafood was once again our focus for dinners at Ponti on a Friday night out. After the normal appetizers of Dungeness Crab Spring Roles and Grilled Calamari I enjoyed the Thai Curry Penne that is a staple of the menu and an unbeatable combination of diver scallops, Dungeness crab and Penne pasta in a sweet/hot Thai Curry sauce. My companions both chose the White Gulf Prawn Fettucine. We finished the dinner sharing the Moelleux Au Chocolat and coffee. We will very much miss Ponti when the doors close next week but, we have our reservations for one more time next Saturday evening,.
We have thoroughly enjoyed Ponti over the years, and are very sad to see it close. There are very few restaurants in Seattle where one can enjoy excellent food in a quiet, peaceful atmosphere of refined al fresco dining with lovely views.
Really a shame this amazing place is closing soon, way too soon. It has been sold to the Elks or something since Rich couldn't find a another buyer in the restaurant trade. Dine here while you can.
So sad to see this great restaurant go! If you can get there before it closes for good - GO!!
We have wanted to dine here for years, but we live on the Eastside and it has just gotten harder and harder to get downtown. When I saw the closure notice, we had to go. We made it a Father's day dinner and so happy we did. It was a beautiful day, and after strolling Discovery Park, stopped in 45 minutes before our reservation. Not a problem. Got a beautiful table with the Freemont and water view, and even the view of the restaurant was really fun. I can't remember our server's name, but I have a feeling he had worked there for a long time. He had great suggestions. It was hard to pick from such a yummy menu but we knew we wanted seafood. We eat a lot of seafood at home and out, but I have never had dish like the Smoked Black Cod. It was so good, I only wanted to eat half so I could have the rest for lunch the next day (plus saved room for dessert). Everything was perfect! Thank you. We are trying to figure out a day to go back before the closing to try the Brick Chicken!
Always a pleasure to eat at Ponti when we are in Seattle. Food is inventive and delicious. Atmosphere is great inside or out. Tables a bit close together inside. Comprehensive wine list with great selection of Washington State wines.
Absolutely has been one of my favs in Seattle. Really bummed that it will be closing on the 2nd of July. If you haven't ever been, you owe to yourself to go before it closes.
A very special place. Wish Ponti's was not closing!
Sadly they are closing
Restaurant seemed "under managed", staff not attentive but definitely not busy. Lots of empty tables.
Everything was delicious! We're from out of town (Denver) this was by far one of our favorite while visiting!
FABULOUS!!! Unfortunately we understand they have sold the property and will be closing. Should the chef and staff open another restaurant we would definitely recommend going!
Can't believe this fabulous place is closing! The staff just learned they will close on July 1. Have been coming here for years and never disappointed. Sad.
I will not be using your service for reservations any longer. I have used your service before and specified that I would like a table not in front of doorways, kitchen, waiter station. Well was placed at a table right next to the main entrance to dining area at Ponti's and have been placed at other restaurants in not so nice areas. Do restuarants think that because we used on line reservation service that we are from out of town or do they think people dont care where they sit when they are dining at an expensive restaurant??
From my perspective and choice, Ponti's ranks as my favorite restaurant. The setting and ambiance is exemplary -- relaxing, acoustics appeasing, tasteful interior design, superb, congenial service, and moreover is priced very affordable and fair for ordinary middle class diners.
Such a classy spot. Always great food. The sauteed calamari appetizer was absolutely delicious, as were all our entrees: the halibut, scallops, and arctic cod. Beautifully prepared and presented. Thank you for seating us at a view table, with a view of the Ponti (Fremont Bridge). It was a special occasion and I'm glad we could celebrate it there.
Ponti is such a gem! Excellent variety, fantastic staff, the environment is inviting and all at a very fair price, not inflated 20-40% like several other fine dining restaurants in Seattle. Fantastic happy hour too! 5 Stars overall! Woo Hoo!!!
Ponti Seafood Grill is a wonderful spot on the canal by the Fremont Bridge with a variety of seafood entrees and a complimentary wine list. It provides outside dining plus plenty of seating by Windows. Our dinner was excellent and the wait staff was attentive.
I was visiting Seattle from DC and came with a friend for my farewell dinner. Sat outside overlooking the ship canal in the early evening and enjoyed watching a nonstop parade of boats returning to the lakes, and several openings of the Fremont Bridge. The food was very good, especially the alderwood smoked black cod, which was melt in your mouth delicious. The halibut was very good too, over asparagus and potato gnocci. It was a tad cool and breezy and the outdoor heat lamps weren't on, but it wasn't too bad.
It took us awhile to find but once we did we were very happy. Make sure you note there is a 3rd w and 3rd n. Thats what our problem was.
We chose to go to Ponti Seafood on a whim on an overcast holiday weekend and I was greatly surprised at how great the food was. We ordered oysters to start and they were crisp, light and exceptional. I ordered the New York strip and it was cooked to perfection, as was my husband's salmon. My only complaint was that the steak knife didn't cut well at all and it mangled what was an exceptional piece of steak. The server said all the knives were that dull. Others than that, the service was excellent, the noise level was perfect and the food was outstanding. Highly recommended!
Service and food were truly outstanding. The beautiful view was a bonus.
Be sure to go early and enjoy happy hour prior to dinner.
Three of us went on a Monday night at 7 pm; almost no one there which detracted from the ambiance. I had out-of-town guests & we'd had a great meal there when they last were here.
I had the lamb shank like I did before...as delicious as I remembered it! One guest felt her salmon was over done but she did not say anything to the waiter. The waiter, when asked about the low diner count, explained Sunday & Monday nights are often slow.
Great food, nice location with view of ship canal, great selection of fresh local seafood.
Exceptional food...exceptional service. One wish... This shows my age, is that it is sometimes hard to hear one another if you have a table in the main dining room during crowded evening hours. That won't keep us from going back and back and back again.
Love this place; another Seattle gem that isn't always over crowded! The crab roll appetizer is fantastic as are all the fish dishes. Having had most of them numerous times I just recently had their chicken dinner that was wonderful....
Bar scene can be vibrant with locals, but it's a nice place to relax with the fireplace. Very friendly and attentive service.
For over twenty five years, Ponti's has been a comfortable, reliable, scenic, and normally quiet place for our casual dining indulgences. A few years back it supplanted Ray's as our go to place for anniversaries and other special occasions. We have yet to have a disappointing meal at Poni's, except, perhaps, for a New Year's eve special. I'd praise it more but for fear of it becoming overly popular.
Food was cooked perfectly and waiter was attentive and helpful.
We dined on the deck, it was delightful, fun watching boats on the ship canal. Our server was great, very attentive and helpful. The king salmon was outstanding.
