Ponte Mollo Ratings and Reviews
The food was good, but the service was very disappointing. Our reservation was at 7:30 and we received our appetizers an hour later and our entrees after 9. (We had to keeping asking about the status of our food.) It didn't leave a good impression for the first-time diners in our group. Luckily the entrees were very good. A kind gesture from management (i.e. complimentary drink or dessert) would've been appreciated to ensure that we return.
Have been here several times. Food is always consistent. Consistently very good. Am returning this weekend . The reservation is made. What is a bit inconsistent is the service. Everyone [staff] is great but service time can sometimes be slow. Nevertheless I highly recommend this place.
Shhhh...it's a secret. Nothing on their website mentions "Hey we have Brunch", but they have a great brunch. Very authentic food. The cheese and zucchini omelet was special, and the "Italian Toast" was very good. Plus, it's always a good sign when you enter an Italian restaurant and the owner and chef are speaking in Italian.
This was one of the best meals in recent memory! All four diners enjoyed every dish,a rarity in any restaurant!Food is both simple and sophisticated, with high quality ingredients !Wine list is simple to follow with good wines at all price points! We shared eggplant and chicken livers as apps, had veal scallopini, orrechette, mushroom paperdelle, and zucchini pasta, all terrific! We finished with lemon sorbet and tiramisu, both divine!Coffee and wine also wonderful!Manhattan quality and best Italian in area!
Had a great dinner, nice service, at times the kitchen staff could be heard talking rather loud to each other...since the restaurant was quiet when we arrived....we could hear them....no matter how many diners are present, no one should hear the kitchen staff....and the noise...
Excellent food and great service. Lisa was very personable and a great hostess. She described and suggested the various foods. The waiter was great as well. The food was delicious. What a great team. Marco was very very pleasant and has a vision of what he intends to do to get more business. It sounds like promotions will be coming on Mondays and Tuesdays in the near future. Be on the lookout.
Valentines day dinner. Was a little concerned because service can sometimes be on the slow side. They got this right. Well staffed/ food delivered timely. Sat in back room was very nice and "quaint". Food never disappoints. Marco is a very welcoming proprietor . If never tried - highly recommend. The worst thing that can happen is you have a great meal.
I love Ponte Mollo!! Marco and Lisa are wonderful! So warm and charming! The food is excellent, very authentic Northern Italian. Everything is fresh, and always home made! The veal ravioli is so delicious , the pappardelle with short rib rage is amazing, as well as their brisket and chicken livers with onions! I can go on and on! ....and also very important, they make a great cocktail!!, and have a wonderful wine list! Truly a neighborhood gem!!
This restaurant is just lovely, quiet and charming. They are very welcoming, will make anything you wish if it is not on the menu. Pasta dishes are especially good - one evening had a seafood pasta with delicious saffron infused sauce- yum.
Wines by the glass offer nice variety, such as a vermentino.
There is valet parking.
Room is lovely, tastefully decorated for holiday. Service was slow, perhaps as owner and usual manager were not there. Appetizers , for 4 people were uneven. Two were good, and one, the beet salad, was unacceptable, a thickly sliced beet with some goat cheese on top. Pasta dishes were delicious, especially the papperdellewith mushrooms. The pasta special was also very good- made with sausage and broccoli rabe. Brisket was very good, tender and flavorful.
Cannot comment on deserts as we had only tartufo.
Don't know why this place is not more popular, as it is really much better than other nearby Italian restaurants.
This was the first time going there. I have an office in Great Neck and live in Bayside. I had my Xmas office party here and it was spectacular. The atmosphere, the food, and all the employees there were friendly. It is a very comfortable place with outstanding food and service.
I would recommend Ponte Mollo to anyone I know that I like.
third or fourth time back. Marco is always welcoming and gracious. Food is consistently good. Atmosphere very pleasant. Martini is very nice size. If not in a rush a great place for a great meal. Service does tend to be slow but as long as the food is as good as it is- it is worth the wait.
The owner and his staff at Ponte Mollo are always very gracious, welcoming and invested in making sure you enjoy your experience. Weekends there are often busy, so on the hopping Friday night we visited, our group was seated in the adjacent room. The room is darker and has less of a cozy feel, but is quieter and very private, so you feel as if you have the whole place to yourself. The food was, as always, special and delicious. Must try the grilled calamari appetizer, warm seafood salad and veal meatballs.
