Pomme Frite Ratings and Reviews
This place was requested for a 65th birthday dinner. Ordered mussels and a steak, waited an hour, still no dinner, and we left. Asian lady hostess/cashier actually charged us for our 1 beer and 1 wine which was untouched. Instead of comping our drinks and apologizing for the screwup, she was gruff and arrogant. Charged us $18. Keep the overpriced steak too. Won't go back, NO recommendation here. Read more negative reviews - see a pattern?
It was probably one of the busiest night there and the staff were super friendly and we had received a call in the afternoon to let us know that we might have to wait because of the parade. We did wait only because we wanted a table on the patio. we were able to sit at the bar watch the parade pass by and had a great evening.
We had an open table reservation during prime time on a Saturday night which was acknowledged without issue. We dined outside in perfect comfort. The food was all spot on and authentic and the service was excellent. I highly recommend the experience and will definitely return.
This is the second time we’ve been here. And the food is as good as I remember. Especially the mussels that come in a pot and served in different flavors of your choice. I intend to taste them all at one point The service is great and the ambiance is very comfortable. Very much recommended.
My wife and I were looking for a restaurant that served the Belgium beer, Gulden Draak, which turned out to be Pomme Fritte. Not only did it serve this beer, but it had an extraordinary Belgium beer list along with a wonderful menu of French and Belgium foods. Every dish was expertly done. Along with this, our waiter, Mark, was a superior companion to navigate us through our night with a great sense of humor. We will be back again and again.
We had a great evening with excellent food and two bottles of wine. Frog legs to start were served in a hot dish which gave us hot garlic butter to sop up after eating the legs. The mussels Provençal were served in pails which, again, kept them warm until all had been devoured. I would recommend for excellent food, well priced and attractively prepared and served.
Pomme frite is a wonderful French/Belgium restaurant with an awesome beer list & a delightful wine list. Now that you have a libation it is time to peruse the menu. FIRST, if you love mussels they prepare them 10 different ways...each delicious. The rest of the menu pays homage to French cooking in a wonderfully comforting way. If you are lucky you will be there when their fabulous rabbit pasta or duck a la orange are SPECIALS. Sit in the dining room which evokes a French bistro or on the patio and watch Palm Springs stroll by.
Pomme Frites is a long-time favorite. I had a warm chèvre salad, my husband had the stew, and our friend had the moules. Reasonable wine list, and a great recommendation from our server. Everything was delicious, the service was excellent, and the sidewalk patio seating made for great people watching.
This is a Belgian/French themed restaurant and I found it to be pretty authentic (I've traveled extensively in each country). The steak/frites, chicken vol au vent, and duck a l'orange were all terrific. Disappointed that there were apparently no aperitif drinks. I ordered an "americano" and was presented with an espresso drink! As a substitute I was handed the dessert drink menu. The wait staff is friendly and efficient, the maitre d' (possibly the owner?) not so much. We booked for 7pm through Open Table and the restaurant failed to register that we honored our reservation. We went back the next night, again through Open Table, reported that we were there again, asked the maitre d' to be sure to note that we were there, and he basically blamed us for the previous night's problem. Not pleasant. Also, we did not see any indication that they were actually tracking on reservations. We believe that if we had booked for a later hour, we might not have had a table.
We come here every year for dinner on our yearly trip to Palm Springs. Sadly, it has gone downhill. The server took over 15 minutes to take our order, we had to ask the Busser to take our appetizer plates away after they had been sitting there and stacked for him, and the server never brought our check after 15 minutes of waiting. I had to end up walking over to the owner to get the check myself. Most of the food was decent, but both fish orders for the table were over cooked. The owner did take 10% off the bill but I would have much preferred a better dinner experience.
Pomme Frite is always a "go to"place when one wants to have a pleasant reasonably-priced meal while "watching the parade of humanity" walk by its outdoor seating area. The inside seems pleasant and cozy, but we prefer outside, watching people from everywhere, as they walk by. Good food, good service, and reasonably priced. We always enjoy our visits!
In a community of hundreds of restaurants, it's always tough to decide "which one." Pomme Frite has a delightful menu, a warm and personable staff, and is perfectly situated "along the seemingly endless parade of pedestrians" in a fun area of Palm Canyon Drive. We're always happy to go, and we're always pleased we've been.
