The best restaurant in Greenwich!
Best veal parm I’ve ever had and love the baked clams
By far, Polpo is the best restaurant in Greenwich. food is excellent EVERY SINGLE TIME. Owner’s are awesome....and the atmosphere is always lively. It’s a strong 10!!! Highly recommend!!!
Too noisy. Apart from that food, service and ambiance were awesome!
Fish was dry, pasta wasn’t distinctive, salad didn’t taste fresh
Polpo is always consistent with excellent food, wine and service. Can't wait to go back.
Great service and food
Service was extremely slow other tables were served appetizers that sat after us. Had to find waiter and ask for our food. Dessert coffee was served and the forgot to bring our ice cream for dessert. Again had to find waiter and ask where dessert was
Amazing experience!! Food was fantastic, service was wonderful. Truly had a great Valentine’s Day there
Make sure you are seated downstairs where the piano bar is.
Wonderful menu for Valentine's Day. Even though they served many, many patrons, the food was first rate.
Food is way overpriced for what you get.
My wife and I had an excellent time at polpo this past tuesday. Service was excellent from start to finish. Food simply superb. Special thanks to mr. Balidemaj who took special care of my wife's special menu requests. Love this place. Highly recommended.
Everything we ordered tasted incredible ...
Colossal crab avocado salad, halibut, penne w pink sauce...tiramisu & pana cotta for dessert were awesome
Great waiters...beautiful ambiance
Best dining experience in a long time!
Perfection start to finish. Pasta is fresh and full of flavor. They make the best Dover Sole that is so fresh and delicious. Wine selection awesome and service is perfect. Best Italian restaurant in Fairfield County.
This is one of my favorite places but not this time. Service was horrific. Sloppy, inconsistent, rushed, rude, forgetful, bringing someone else's order to our table and then charging me for some of their items. REALLY!!!! It has never been like this. Even the bread which is usually wonderful was dry, old and disgusting. Quite surprising for such a wonderful upscale restaurant. There was one head waiter and two back waiter and two bus boys and in a section that had with tables. I'm completely bewildered why the level of service on this past Saturday night was completely awful. A persons dining experience (not that you justify a price with an outcome) for a location like this, with a dinner total for two guests with two glasses on wine and no dessert at $ 280.00 AND they brought the hot water for one cup of tea and NEVER came back with the tea bag, is really unprofessional.
Inexperienced wait staff. Overcooked steak - missing sides and sauces. Charged for items that we did not consume.
Visiting Stamford from Nashville Tn on a business trip with friends..enjoyed a fabulous meal at Polpo’s. Great cocktails, Italian entrees lovingly made and killer desserts! Highly recommend the veal piccata, the daily risotto and the tagliatoni bolegnese. All the desserts were wonderful too. Our waiter took wonderful care of us and made for a most enjoyable evening.
Service was poor. Like the restaurant but seemed lost in terms of taking order and delivering food.
The wait staff is always professional. The food is fabulous and to meet the owner Ron Is a joy
Horrible service and experience. Celebrating my birthday which they knew. They kept us waiting at the bar for over 30 minuets. When finally at the table I asked the waiter specifically what vegetables the entire comes with and he said none, you need to order a side dish (another $13 appx) when the food came there was a medley of veggies so we didn’t need the side dish.
Very pricey, poor service.
Not impressed after hearing great things over the years.
Keep the piano in the main dining room. Gave the place a very warm & welcoming atmosphere
Polpo is without question the best. Great ambiance and food. Service is terrific. Try to go anytime we can. Best restaurant in Greenwich.
The food was extremely disappointing, both appetizers and main courses.
A lovely evening, with good food, ambience and service. A definite place to return to....
Third time trying this restaurant. First, sat a bit after 10pm for an 8:30pm reservation. Food was good and service fine when finally seated. Second, 5:30pm, service was excellent, but "angry lobster" was bland and boring. Third, was Christmas night at 6:30pm. Food was atrocious! I had chicken that was tepid, dried out, and covered in oil. Probably sat in a chafing dish prepped for hours. My wife had swordfish that was thin and rubbery. My daughter got a stomach ache. Yes, it was a holiday, but for almost $100 per person, if the second string can't produce edible food, close the restaurant. Sorry I didn't photograph the swill I was served. FYI, it was Christmas, so I let it go, tipped well, sucked it up, and just won't go back. But I feel compelled to warn others of extreme inconsistency, over three tries, amounting to expensive slop.
We were there for Christmas dinner and so pleased! Food was fresh and delicious, service excellent, atmosphere warm. We drove from Manhattan and it was worth it!
Nice Christmas Dinner
Loved my food choices - Lobster Bisque and Rabbit
Great service and ambiance
Will be back next Christmas
Amazing in every sense. Service is absolutely paramount in Greenwich and food is consistently delicious. Love this place! The bartender Noah is hilarious.
Christmas Eve dinner - they always do a great job. Unfortunately we had a late reservation and the staff seemed to lose interest.
We had a fantastic meal at Polpo. The calamari was the freshest and best we have ever had. The seafood risotto and duck were incredible! The tiramisu is a must. Love Polpo
While the food, as always, was delicious, having to sit upstairs (having asked for a table downstairs - of which there were a few empty) began a series of less than acceptable service issues. When ordering roast chicken (a favorite - which we’ve ordered in the past) we were told it would take 45 minutes. No such mention on the menu - or ever before when we ordered it. When our guest mentioned he was allergic to dairy the waiter appeared inconvenienced that he had to find out which sauces were prepared with dairy. They were sold out of the wine we ordered and offered us a replacement which was slightly more expensive and they declined to match the other price. Enough little disappointments that we might not be rushing back.
Great hidden gem. Cozy restaurant with great food. Fri night and special nights there is live piano music. Terrific. Upbeat atmosphere!!
Made us wait almost 45 mins for our table then forgot about ya after we finished dinner. We would’ve all ordered dessert & after dinner drinks but I.T was 11:30 & we were tired! Maybe if they paid attention to us and cleared our plates @ 10:30 they would’ve sold us on dessert. It’s a shame bc the music & good are always a hit. I️ think next Xmas we will try somewhere else that values patronage rather than polpo sadly
The food was excellent. The decor is still fairly nice. The service is a little spotty, though not for lack of effort. It was much better than a Saturday night dinner I had a few years ago when they brought our entrees while we were still eating our appetizers and they simply pushed our appetizers out of the way. Maybe it’s changed ownership.
A seafood appetizer salad was dry and hard. L'escargot lacked taste and garlic. Polpo special roasted chicken was dry. Veal was good. Crème brulee surface layer was good, the mousse kind of bleak and cold.
Being new to the neighborhood we stumbled upon Polpo before realizing how popular this Greenwich restaurant is. The two times we have been there, the staff couldn't have been nicer and both times we chatted with the owner who is a class act. The atmosphere is warm and fun with a great piano bar and other musical entertainment. The other night France Joli (Canadian singer, best known for the disco classic "Come to Me") paid a surprise visit to the restaurant which was a lot of fun. The food is amazing and we are thrilled to be able to walk across the street to hang at Polpo!
excellent food with well prepared fish, impossibly noisy, ridiculously expensive,
wines three times retail cost, so be prepared to reach deeply into your wallet
What a wonderful restaurant! I give Polpo Five Stars * Ron Rosa, the owner, has done a great job in creating an old world feeling at Polpo with equally great food! Being a restauranteur in Philadelphia, I know how challenging it can be to be consistent and Ron exceeded my expectations not only with his food but also with his staff's service and attention to detail. I wouldn't think twice about going back and plan to do just that again soon. Thanks for a wonderful meal and interesting conversation. Always great food! Very crowded but service was good once we got our table. Had to wait for our reservation
