Polpo Ratings and Reviews
The food is fantastic, the attention and the service too. The restaurant is on the expensive side (i.e. > $70 per guest, with one glass of wine each). The pasta is great as well as the menu of the day.
The valet parking is nice, $4-$5 suggested tip. It gets really crowded despite how expensive is.
We started out at the bar and were welcomed by the friendly bartenders. The drinks were made perfectly. We sat in the upstairs dinning area at a nice table and the service was very attentive.
The food was very tasty and satisfying. I started with the grilled octopus since i figured since it’s named after it. For me it was just ok. It was not as grilled with the char marks, however It was tender. The flavor was nice though. The pasta was fresh.
I love this place. There are about 7 tables in the bar area where there is a piano player. It was so much fun that everyone was up from their tables and just dancing wherever you could. The menu is great. The food and service was excellent. The people that work there are great. I was there for over 4 hours! I can't wait to go back.
We just loved our quiet Sunday dinner at Polpo. Loved the live piano music, the table in the bar and the delicious food. Our pastas were perfect. wish you were not showing NFL football though as they are so disrespectful to our country, our flag and our troops.
First it was my 46th Anniversary and there is no place better to hook up with friends. Piano player is sensational and knew all our favorites. Food was outstandi g. Anyplace where the owner comes to the table to welcome you has a touch of old world class. Judge Judy was dining with her husband.
I love this place. Yes, it's pricey, but the food is always delicious and exceeds expectations. 4 of us dined and sampled each other's meals; one meal was just as good as the next with high praise for the salmon and chicken. The desserts were delicious, but quite small for the price.
The restaurant has gone downhill. The service was initially quite poor - the waiter spilled my wife's drink all over us, did not change the table cloth or even bring a new drink! Until we asked. The waiter forgot the dessert, and took up our plate before we had finished. He was completely distracted. Eventually, a younger waiter took over - who was much better and much more attentive.
The food was decent, the wine was warm, and the desserts limited. I would not recommend
My wife and I are now Polpo regulars. You are greeted by a charming lady (Donna I believe) who always honors Open Table reservations immediately. The cuisine is punctuated by the proprietor's family's north of Rome cuisine. The baked clams are marvelous as is the veal picatta and chicken Martini...Watch out for the tapenade, a fiery amuse bouche that requires plenty of water to cool the unsuspecting palate. We drive to this wonderful restaurant off Rout 1 in Greenwich, CT about once per season. We recommend it. A. Morse
2nd time there and the last. 1st time we got seated in the bar which my wife did not appreciate She felt there was ample, better seating available. Service was very poor this recent meal. Expressed my dietary concerns to the waiter and he was inattentive and thoughtless. My grilled fish came slathered in butter. We dropped $270 and it did not feel special. Like a diner with table clothes but much smaller portions. The waiter offered to split the salad my wife and I shared into two plates for an extra $4, meanwhile the salad was bland and terrible! We barely saw the waiter the whole night let alone the Captain.
Love this Greenwich staple for the awesome piano bar and the delicious food! The chopped salad, however, is boring and flavorless with a $14 price tag!! I should have got the Polpo salad with white beans and arugula. My striped bass was cooked to perfection and I will be back...
Service was poor. Our waiter seemed lost, sommelier never came to the table even after two requests. Finally just gave up on getting a wine reco.
Beef carpaccio tasted and smelled funky like the beef had spoiled.
I was surprised at these issues because in the past they've done a good job.
Went for my birthday. Sat outside on the upstairs patio. Even got to see a beautiful rainbow while we ate. Had a delicious meal with great drinks and great service. Overall, I was very pleased with the whole dining experience. Will definitely go back again!
Always enjoyable. The owners Ron & Dominique are great, excellent restaurantors . Ron is the old school " BIG" personality owner. Real Italian food. Everyone goes to Polpo: titans of industry, beautiful people, local folk and a couple of wannabes. Piano bar is the icing
