I was there for Thanksgiving dinner at 4:15pm... This is the 4th year in a row and it was the worst year dining with you!!! I come 2 times a year for Easter as well....
This was probably my last time dining at the Polo Grill!!!!!! Last Easter was not a good experience either!!! It is time to move on here and find a different place to dine!!!
The couple that was sitting next to me felt the same way, they are not coming back either FYI....
Too expensive for the overdone food. We have eaten at Poli Grill before and we pleased with the service and food quality however, will definitely not return for Thanksgiving. Turkey meat was dry, prime rib fatty, stuffing tasteless and dry, gravy watery and cold, cranberry sauce blah, salmon over cooked and sdry. The Moscow Mule cocktail was sent back twice...first time nothing but sugar water and the second time tasteless. The wine was less than a 4 Oz pour.
Our reservations were for the Thanksgiving Holiday Buffet at $48/head. We figured at this price point the restaurant would be serving up a nice experience. The greeting at the hostess stand was pleasant...but that’s where it ended. The seating arrangement was awful. It was clear that the restaurant’s goal was to cram in as many tables/people as possible. On top of that each table had NO centerpiece or symbol of the Thanksgiving holiday...only burned out votive candles. The noise level made it difficult to have a meaningful conversation. The food was mediocre at best. We wondered why they requested we provide a credit card at the beginning of our meal but after our dining experience we understood. We will not be choosing Polo Bar and Grill in the future.
Overall the food was tasty, but it was cold or room temperature, so I really enjoyed the cold options, like salad and fruit. There was only one carving station, which meant you had to wait in a long line to get the room temperature meats. When I went through, I requested dark meat for the turkey and was told there was none, but my brother, who was two people behind me was offered dark meat - and he did not want it. The beef was extremely rare and there was no option to warm it to more well done - I have seen this at other buffets. Service was good and because the food was tasty, I was not as disappointed as I could have been. My suggestion is to have fewer tables, so walking around is easier - several times staff almost ran into me coming around the corner from the buffet to where my table was; have at least 2 carving stations to cut down on the line; have a better warming table so the food can remain hotter and offer warm drink options. My mother had to beg for a cup of tea. The ambiance was great and despite my slight disappointment, since this was my first time eating here, and since I have heard rave reviews about the food, I plan to stop by on another occasion to see if I will have a better eating experience.
This year was not quite as good as previous years. The prime rib was raw, to the point not edible, and when I went back to try again with an end piece it was at the other extreme overcooked and dry. Also the turkey white meat was dry and needed a lot of gravy to moisten it. Guests at the table complained about the same issue.
Did have lots of variety with the other foods, and, as in previous years, was good. Overall, it was the same buffet as in previous years. Was good, but if the price keeps going up may not be worth it.
We had a problem with corkage fee. On the OpenTable website it said that Polo Grill and Bar had no corkage fee, but when we arrived we were told it was either $20 or $25 per bottle. They did wave the fee after requesting a screen shot from our phone to prove that it said no corkage fee.
The service was personalized and prompt. We loved the warm crusty bread served with butter on polished marble quartz while we caught up on our lives. The house wine list changes often enough to keep regulars interested and that includes us. Appreciated the seasonal quality to the menu. Two of us enjoyed the cinnamon smoked duck breast with fresh carrot and turnip left whole. One of us thought the grouper was nicely cooked and attractively served No report at all on the Filet Mignon from the 4th diner known to be very fussy on steaks. The salted caramel fudge round made a rich birthday dessert so we split among the 4 of us, a nice way to celebrate a birthday on a mid week evening.
Menu was promising but food was marginal and disappointing. Overpriced for what it was. The steak was well seasoned but under cooked and very tough. Everything else was meh. Server was pleasant but forgetful, inattentive and slow. We were literally her only table. This was our first visit and with so many other great places that deliver high quality food worth the price, we wont be back.
We chose this restaurant for my spouses Birthday.
The restaurant was quite empty all evening.
I ordered a starter salad and it was sad to say the least. In fact the waiter brought another identical starter salad for our table that was twice the size? No one has ordered it as he made a mistake (it was to be a ceasar) I told him since my salad was so small comparing the two I would prefer the other one. He then charged me for 2 full starter salads??
My spouse ordered an appetizer and they completely forgot to bring out his entree...he never ever got it.
They also took forever to clear dirty dishes from the table. Keeping in mind their were only ever 3 tables occupied in the restaurant at any one one during the course of our meal.
I was disheartened to hear there was a huge change in staff and menu. We had not dined here before tonight and we're looking forward to the menu displayed on open table. I am happy to say that the dinner that we had was beyond exceptional. The beetle salad, the pork belly and the lamb were.....beyond words. Excellent. The service. Exceptional. One of the best dining experiences we've had. Just go

I planned a bachelor party dinner. They informed me that my reservation evening they were having a shrimp boil. They did not inform me the kitchen would be closed for their regular menu. Our party adjusted to the information and enjoyed the amazing Cajun inspired food. My small complaint would be with the shrimp boil going on they had a full house and seemed under staffed and or confused on who was serving what tables. It took 45 minutes for beverages, which were finally received after tracking down the GM. Who also made adjustment to the wait staff and the service became as one would expect. Overall this is a wonderful resturaunt with AMAZING food. We'll chalk the service up to a busy night and continue to patron this establishment.
Tried for the first time...heard the new Executive Chef was excellent and it held true for every course. The food was fabulous and presentation was innovative. Taken from a foodie...this place is excellent and a highly recommended try. You will not be disappointed.
Back for the lobster special. Once again cooked to perfection. Delicious & fresh. We all enjoyed it. Service was great. Ambiance is nice. Looking forward to trying some of the other dishes on their new & improved menu. We also had the mussels appetizer that was on special which was in a lovely Spanish tomato broth with aromatics & chorizo sausage. The salted caramel chocolate tart for dessert had a nice buttery richness to it. Complimentary strawberry sorbet for a palate cleanser & breakfast bread to take home. Nice touches. Looking for something different than the same old food fare then give them a try!
We all had the 2 one pound lobster special & thought they were delicious & cooked perfectly. I would highly recommended. We know our seafood/lobster being previous New England residents for many years. Service was great as well. Not your usual food fare so give them a try. Going back again for the lobster deal as you just can't beat it.
Every thing from entering Polo Grill to leaving was beyond perfect. The service was pristine. Very friendly and professional staff. The chefs have out shined every other restaurant I have been to. Definitely worth a return trip.

Very limited menu and pricey for the dinners. Not your everyday menu. I had supposedly 4 large scallops which turned out to medium scallops at the most with corn couscous for $28.00. My husband's meatloaf $25.00. Salads not included. Had a gift card that's what took us there. However service was excellent.
Very friendly staff, very modern setting, huge wine selections, varied dinner menu, white table cloths and black clad wait staff, very concerned servers about allergies, vegetarian and vegan preferences, comfortable seating in a large dining room with soaring ceilings, a glassed-in massive custom-designed wine cellar shaped in a circular floor-to-ceiling glassed-in room, as massive as you see in NYC, certainly a shock in tiny Lakewood Ranch Village. This setting certainly raises the expectations of diners.
We were not disappointed. My husband ordered a Kobe beef meatloaf with whipped potatoes and green beans. The meat was dense and well seasoned and so filling, he has lunch for tomorrow. His wine was suggested by our server and was a good pairing. My selection, scallops over risotto with fresh local sweet corn and slivered almonds was delightful. Our shared appetizer of salmon spread served with pumpernickel bread was ample and delicious. The chef prepared a bite-sized dessert of homemade watermelon sherbet that cleansed the palate and finished a lovely meal perfectly.
Menu is somewhat brief and does not describe each creative dish well. Surprisingly, however, I had one of the best meals (ceviche appetizer, red snapper entre and grilled peaches with ricotta ice cream and chopped pistachios for dessert) that I have had in the Sarasota area over the last eight years even though the white wine by the glass was served much less chilled than it should have been. I look forward to another visit.
I cannot say enough about the service, all the folks that work there. I've now completed the "hat trick", Christmas, Easter and now Mothers Day. ZERO complaints and huge kudos to management and all the employees.
As for the food, good, Afterall folks, it is a buffet.
