Polo Grill - Lakewood Ranch Ratings and Reviews
Valentines Day. The experience we had last night at Polo Grill was very disappointing. The food was very poor quality for the price charged. We expected the same great food we enjoyed at a brunch we had on Christmas. We dine with other Open Table restaurants frequently. The steak was so tough my wife could not chew it. The shrimp and scallops risotto was equally disappointing. The shrimp were delicious but the sea scallops were cut in half. We enjoy Michael’s on East most. They provide great food for a great value! Interestingly enough, Michael is Tommy’s brother and Tommy should take some lessons from him on all fronts. We will not return again to Polo Grill.
We have struggled with polo grill for years. This is probably the best menu they have had in a long time. Love the grilled fish options. We both had fish and both dinners were excellent! Service was also very good. We did go to the bar ahead of time and it is very uninviting. First observation was it smelled like cigarettes. No one was smoking so assume it was coming in from the side doors? Very bright and echo'y. Hardly anyone in there (which I guess I understand). Not sure what the point of the bar is. Very cavernous. Not warm at all. Dining room was pretty empty also. I miss having table clothes on the tables. It was also very loud with nothing to absorb the noise. I think the dining room needs table clothes to soften things up. Also very bright lighting. Prefer darker, cozier atmosphere. But good news is the food and service was excellent.
We visited Polo Grill for a Birthday Celebration. We were a group of 12 and had a private dining room.
The staff was accommodating and the service was excellent. Food was delicious . We ordered a few trays of appetizers and the presentation was very impressive.
I would recommend the PG for a special occasion or a romantic dinner for two. It is a classy place with a diverse menu and unique offerings.
Enjoyed our New Years Eve dining very much with 3 other couples. Do not know restaurant well enough so do not feel qualified to answer question above but it would probably qualify for many of the recommendations above. Brain did a great job serving us! Food was excellent!
We went there New Years Eve for their special dinner. It was very good food but it’s not a quiet dining place if you want to catch up with someone. My only complaint is that they served an expensive red wine in a white wine glass. I asked, and they said they were out. Really, on New Years Eve? I wouldn’t even do that at home. Anyway, it was a good evening and service was very good.
Extremely disappointing. After various Holiday Brunches here this Christmas was the most disappointing. Service was minimal, had to request and re-request refills of iced tea. The food was extremely salty, no cocktail sauce for the shrimp etc.... This used to a be an almost Ritz like atmosphere from the food to the service and it has deeply gone down in quality. Very sad about it.
The food was mediocre considering the $42.00 per person price tag.
No one came to take our drink order until I involved the hostess.
My son's glass had a long hair in it which, of course, turned his stomach.
After all that, was charged a 20% "gratuity charge" for three people at a buffet!
Needless to say I will not be darkening the door to this establishment again.
This was our second try at this place. The first time was not much better, but I wanted to give it a go again.....my mistake!!!!
We are pretty easy to please but the service here was terrible. Couldn’t even find a server to begin with after we were seated. Realize it was a brunch/buffet but still to sit and wait as long as we did just to order beverages. Then we didn’t see her once the entire meal after she delivered our drinks. After finishing our meal, we waited and waited for a check and again we had to have someone go find our waitress just to pay. In fact, we went up to hostess as we thought possibly we paid up there. Once we finally received our check it was disappointing to see an automatic 20% gratuity added. We didn’t have a large table, just four of us, plus being we served ourselves and had absolutely horrible service, I’m not sure why we went ahead and paid the 20% without complaining. We always tip between 20-25% but this server was not deserving at all. The young guy that made sure to refill our drinks and take away dirty dishes did an excellent job. Not sure of they were understaffed with servers but this really was a huge disappointment. The 42 per person wasn’t a bad price for all the food we got and the majority of the food was really good. Hard to recommend though with the service we received.
I always celebrate holidays at Polo Grille. The buffets are superb. Whether we are just the two of us or the entire family - we are there. There is always food that the grand children will eat and the prime rib is superb. My youngest grand daughter eats salads and desserts and I just love to watch her enjoy herself. Thank you Polo Grille. Gia Havener
We had dined @ Polo several times before, but the Christmas Buffet was so very well organized, services, and the food choices were incredibly upscale and fresh-the salad tiers were nothing short of gourmet, and the carving station meats were easy to get and so very delicious.
Worth every bit of the 40.00 per plate price, but the 25% gratuity for 5 was a bit stiff for a buffet style meal.
I will go back for the holidays-it was inside/outside dining @ its finest!
We went for Christmas Day brunch. The food was good, although pricey. Our waiter was excellent. I was disappointed that there was only one gluten free dessert option, and it was key lime mousse. It was ok, but I think of key lime as one of those flavors that folks either love or hate. Especially on Christmas I would have really appreciated something chocolate, and there are many easy options for gluten free chocolate. Even chocolate mousse would have worked, or rum balls.
We came with friends for the Christmas Day buffet. The variety and quality of food were excellent and everything was well-prepared. Appetizers included pate, smoked salmon, and shrimp, and main dishes included excellent roast beef plus seafood thermidor with lobster and scallops. There were also traditional sides, such as very tasty mashed potatoes and green bean casserole, something for all tastes. The service was attentive and helpful, and the noise level was very contained, considering the large number of diners. The only quibble we had was that some of the hot dishes were just barely warm. We are not local to the area, but we would happily return for a similar occasion.
THIS REVIEW IS FOR MANAGEMENT ONLY. Not necessarily for publication as it is very specific.
I thought the service charge was a bit steep. $ 20 approx for two people - for a buffet. 15 % for service would have been plenty. Tell me they shared it with the kitchen staff. The food was excellent on all counts. Except for the turkey roll and the cranberry sauce (shame on you). The seafood Newburg was really fantastic as well as the vegetables and desserts.
I saw a lot of elderly or disabled people at the brunch. I wonder how easy it is for them to move around the food tables... have you every thought of having them go first, or having a special food lane or corner for slower patrons. It's the future.
Finally, we were seated at the worst place possible but it was Christmas and we made light of it. Next time, I will know and be more specific.
We walked in and were greeted badly. I asked to sit outside and was told “I don’t care” ok.....and then led outside to then just be stared at. I was following her to our table and she didn’t communicate that she wanted me to choose a table.
Lunch menu was lackluster.
I guess this isn’t the week to eat out since everyone might be grumpy for the holidays.
I was there for Thanksgiving dinner at 4:15pm... This is the 4th year in a row and it was the worst year dining with you!!! I come 2 times a year for Easter as well....
This was probably my last time dining at the Polo Grill!!!!!! Last Easter was not a good experience either!!! It is time to move on here and find a different place to dine!!!
The couple that was sitting next to me felt the same way, they are not coming back either FYI....
Too expensive for the overdone food. We have eaten at Poli Grill before and we pleased with the service and food quality however, will definitely not return for Thanksgiving. Turkey meat was dry, prime rib fatty, stuffing tasteless and dry, gravy watery and cold, cranberry sauce blah, salmon over cooked and sdry. The Moscow Mule cocktail was sent back twice...first time nothing but sugar water and the second time tasteless. The wine was less than a 4 Oz pour.
Our reservations were for the Thanksgiving Holiday Buffet at $48/head. We figured at this price point the restaurant would be serving up a nice experience. The greeting at the hostess stand was pleasant...but that’s where it ended. The seating arrangement was awful. It was clear that the restaurant’s goal was to cram in as many tables/people as possible. On top of that each table had NO centerpiece or symbol of the Thanksgiving holiday...only burned out votive candles. The noise level made it difficult to have a meaningful conversation. The food was mediocre at best. We wondered why they requested we provide a credit card at the beginning of our meal but after our dining experience we understood. We will not be choosing Polo Bar and Grill in the future.
Overall the food was tasty, but it was cold or room temperature, so I really enjoyed the cold options, like salad and fruit. There was only one carving station, which meant you had to wait in a long line to get the room temperature meats. When I went through, I requested dark meat for the turkey and was told there was none, but my brother, who was two people behind me was offered dark meat - and he did not want it. The beef was extremely rare and there was no option to warm it to more well done - I have seen this at other buffets. Service was good and because the food was tasty, I was not as disappointed as I could have been. My suggestion is to have fewer tables, so walking around is easier - several times staff almost ran into me coming around the corner from the buffet to where my table was; have at least 2 carving stations to cut down on the line; have a better warming table so the food can remain hotter and offer warm drink options. My mother had to beg for a cup of tea. The ambiance was great and despite my slight disappointment, since this was my first time eating here, and since I have heard rave reviews about the food, I plan to stop by on another occasion to see if I will have a better eating experience.
This year was not quite as good as previous years. The prime rib was raw, to the point not edible, and when I went back to try again with an end piece it was at the other extreme overcooked and dry. Also the turkey white meat was dry and needed a lot of gravy to moisten it. Guests at the table complained about the same issue.
Did have lots of variety with the other foods, and, as in previous years, was good. Overall, it was the same buffet as in previous years. Was good, but if the price keeps going up may not be worth it.
