Pointe In Tyme Restaurant – Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort Ratings and Reviews
First, this was a misunderstanding on my part. I thought I was making reservations for A Different Pointe of View, but the web site made them for A Pointe in Time, as the previous restaurant was fully booked; but I didn't notice the difference. When we got to the DPV and they didn't have my reservation,
They could have been huffy and just rejected us. But they were very polite and called the sister restaurant on the property and found the reservation. The hostess then offered to call a van to pick us up & take us down the hill to A Pointe in Time, and then provided it again at the end of dinner so that we could go up and take photos on the patio of DPV.
The ambiance and service at A Pointe in Time was cozy and romantic. The waiter was very polite and helpful and attentive. The food was cooked as ordered, and delicious. We weren't rushed but treated as valued customers. This could have been a disaster on a special day, Valentines Day; but the high quality treatment by both establishments made it a memorable experience. I would highly recommend both loacations at Pointe Tapatio Cliffs!
Pointe in Tyme offers a very good breakfast buffet. They serve their breakfast menu until 3pm on Sunday so we naturally assumed the buffet would be available as well. Much to our disappointment, the breakfast bar ends at 11am, which happened to be the time of our reservation. We decided to stay and order off of the regular breakfast menu, but it was not nearly the value. While sipping on our coffee and $2 mimosa, I watched three different couples come in, discover that the breakfast bar was closed and leave. Something they need to make clear on their menu.
The remaining meal was very good. The crescent rolls were buttery and flakey, the huevos rancheros was very good, though the egg whites were not cooked through. Overall, it is good dependable restaurant with a friendly staff and a great relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast bar, when available is a fantastic value with great food. Be sure you know the hours before visiting.
Pointe In Tyme restaurant is a frequent stop for a leisurely lunch.
Today we enjoyed their brunch. The Sunday Brunch was a delicious surprise. The buffet includes eggs, sausage, cheese blintzes, fresh smoothies, an omlette station, house made donuts and $2.00 Mimosas.
Had a great time at the Pointe's, Different Pointe In Tyme. Great views and even better service. I had the Swordfish and it was perfectly seasoned and prepared. Keep up the good work! Four first dates at A Different Pointe In Tyme = four second dates. It doesn't get much better than that. I'll be back!
I was extremely disappointed in the surroundings. The carpet was filthy. Decor is not commensurate with the reputation that the Pointe restaurants used to have. The food was mediocre at best but plentiful. The wait staff was not knowledgeable of their availability of dining choices or wine.
5:30 pm reservation on a Sunday for 6, was not needed. Not busy at all. Been to this restaurant many times but not in the last 10-yrs. was a nostalgic visit.
Spinach dip appetizer was very good. Salads very fresh and meals were excellent. Hidden gem, will be back for sure.
We made a reservation while staying at the resort. We requested a booth. We were waiting for the resort shuttle to come and get us, so I called to let the restaurant know, and they said it wouldn't be a problem. When we arrived, the hostess, Deborah, looked irritated, and said she would check and see if there was a booth available. There was not, and she showed us to a table in the middle of the restaurant, surrounded by families with young kids. We asked if we could sit in the bar, and she said sure. As we walked back, we passed an empty booth that was just missing silverware. I asked if we could take that one, and she snapped, "No, it's dirty, and it's reserved on a reservation." Well, we requested a booth on our reservation, too, so why does this other party who isn't here get preference?? We ended up sitting in the bar at a high-top table, which was not how we envisioned our evening.
Jerome was our server, and he was very friendly. Their coke syrup was out, so he got cans for me, which was very sweet. We had the calamari, which was a little chewy, and the grilled peach bruschetta, which was the highlight of the meal. The flavor combination and freshness was exceptional. My fiance had the ribs, which she said were good. I had the sirloin, which was good quality, and the hominy it was served with was great, super flavorful and perfect texture. For dessert we ordered the sorbet, which was $6, and it was 3 HUGE scoops - a good value for the price, but we left most of it, as it was way too much to eat after a big dinner; we just wanted something light and small. Jerome sent us back to our room with complimentary chocolate strawberries, which were delicious, and such a nice surprise!
Overall, our experience was mixed - the server and certain food items were wonderful, but the hostess, seating, and other items were disappointing.
We live in the neighborhood yet have not ventured into the resort area until now and was so pleasantly surprised by the gem right under our noses! The restaurant was comfortable and quiet, calm and scenic and the food was delicious! Our service was attentive yet not intrusive and the price was very reasonable! Oh, the coffee was really good too!
We had a miserable time here. While we were seated immediately, everything else was incredibly slow. The waiter took our order about 20 minutes in, and then the long wait began. There wasn't even a basket of bread to tide us over. They gave us a round of free drinks, after an hour, for the inconvenience, but didn't step up the pace. We got our food at the hour and a half mark, and asked for the check at the 2 hour mark. The waiter left the checks, and we didn't see him for another half hour. We complained to management. There's absolutely no reason that it should have taken 2 and 1/2 hours to get a meal and check to 4 people at a small table. The manager decided that the comp'd round of drinks, from earlier was enough off our bill to satisfy that kind of wait. the drinks would cost OUR TABLE $40+, but the actual restaurant only lost around $5.00 in drinks. This was completely unacceptable. I will never recommend this restaurant, in fact I will deter friends from coming here. We had plans for later, to go swimming at the hotel, and we ended up getting a measly 30 minutes of swim time, before the pool closed. The manager didn't do enough to make up for the restaurants mistakes, ruining our moods and our evening plans.
I don't think I'll ever eat here again. Poor service, we were not paid enough attention to. Always ahead to ask for water. The waiters that would come out to the patio would see us and the turn right back around and go inside for a while. When we went inside to go to the bathroom it was empty so they were not busy. We were just ignored.
We dined at the restaurant twice during our stay at the Hilton. On both occasions the hostess was pleasant and our server was good. However the food is on the verge of awful. The menu is extremely limited and the options are like something out of the 50's. The first time the food was ok but for the price not remarkable. On the second occasion it was just plain terrible. I had the short rib and it had been reheated or microwaved to the point of being inedible. My wife had the chicken which consisted of two hindquarters piled on mashed potatoes. We will never go back.
We were not impressed. We asked for outside dining but were told it was full. As we sat inside we watched the outside tables remain empty throughout our meal. Our server was good and attentive. The menu choices were very limited. I have had better salmon at chain restaurants. Kids meals were terrible. We will not be going back
Breakfast at Point in Tyme is very good. Whether the buffet or ordering off the menu the food was very good. I found the dinner menu disappointing as far as offerings however the execution of what was on the menu was well done. That said I realize they may just not have had dinner items that I personally was drawn to so of course, others may think different. Service was competent but just not quite "dialed in." That said, the next time I return we'll go back because of convenience. With a little "tweak" I think this could be a restaurant I'd look forward to coming back to again and again.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We had guests from out of town and thought the location was a good choice. The service was terrible, we waited over an hour just to get our salads. When the waiter took our order we were the only occupied table. As more people arrived, they seated them around our table. The room was large with a lot of empty tables, but we were in the middle of a cluster of occupied tables. It was very loud, not easy to carry on a conversation. We finally had to ask what happened to our order. The staff was very inexperienced, they didn't seem to know what they were doing. Plates of salad were brought to the table and then taken away because one of the orders was wrong. We finally got our main entree, but had to wait for that also. The table next to us got up and left, the wait was too long. It was not an enjoyable experience. I will not go back again.
We had a 5 pm reservation. We arrived a little early and were seated in the lobby. Both benches had broken legs and nearly fell off the seat. My parents were with us and had they fallen in could have caused serious injury. We also had to listen to the stafff argue at the front desk. There seemed to be table assignment questions. The group of 7 seated before us were seated and 10 minutes later were asked to move to another table. We had to eat with are jackets/coats on as the door close to where we were seated kept blowing open. The online menu we checked before arriving was evidently old. We specifically came for the seared scallops. This is being a little picky but on Christmas Eve I would have expected the hostess to be dressed a little nicer. Overall dissappointed with the experience. Food was better than anticipated but would have liked more options for soups and entrees.
Great Holiday ambiance. Disappointed in omelet bar. Chef scorched all three omelets. Buffet food looked like it had been there for a while. We ate at 9:00 a.m so it should have been more fresh. Next time we will order off menu. We had a good time anyway and enjoyed the $1.99 mimosa's. staff was friendly.
Our server John was very good. The Manhattans were thin, not much taste with a huge single ice cube and no cherry. The glass and a half of wine was a small carafe like you get for a single pour in most restaurants. Salmon was good, but the sauce it came with was not good at all. We were pleasantly surprised with the flank steak. Cooked just right and a great sauce.
Food selection for Thanksgiving was excellent as usual. Front reception was inept--we came in, had a 4:30 reservation, but they seated people that came after we did before we were seated, when I questioned them, they claimed we had a 4:45 reservation which we did not. Also, the waitstaff was too aggressive in trying to clear our table, twice trying to take plates we were still working on.
