Everything about this restaurant exceeded our expectation. We had a fantastic Sunday dinner there. We were especially impressed by our waitress!
We shared 3 things on the menu and all were great.
Good service as usual. Comfortable dining room and
Always great at Poggio!
As usual Poggio was excellent. I always look forward to a great cocktail to start my evening and to my surprise they were out of an ingredient to make the cocktail I was hoping for an Aviation ( no cream de violet ). Poggio get that bar stocked ! You made a great Aviation last time I visited.
The food is always exceptional with a good variety of dishes to choose.
Nice atmosphere and good service.
I liked the location of the restaurant, we were seated promptly and the waiter was nice. That said, our salads were brought out quickly and then the entree and then dessert. I felt we were being rushed so that the next people could come in. I thought the food was good but the high price did not match the creativeness of the dishes. However, we loved the lemon dessert. It was beautifully prepared and tasty!
We had four for lunch. We wanted good food, a pleasant ambiance, and quiet enough to hold an easy conversation. We got it all. I have been many times, and it has always been a good choice.
We stayed quite late and the staff was quite wonderful. This is a special place and fun to go to
It’s $$ so we don’t get to go often but when we do it’s real benissimo.
The trout is my fav!
Service was quite good, but slow. Noise level was greater than we like.
Absolutely love Poggio! It's always a family favorite with us. And Poggio is helpful with dietary needs. Friendly, knowledgable staff. Well-done, guys!
We had to wait a while for out table. Hostess couldn’t have cared less that our table wasn’t ready for close to a half hour after our reservation time. They should have given us a drink while we waited
This was our first visit to Poggio and we picked it based on its reviews on Open Table. We enjoyed our dinner very much. For appetizers we tried the mushroom sformatino, which was very good and the pasta amatriciana. The pasta was tasty, but was lukewarm in places like it had sat a little too long in the kitchen. For entrees we tried the pork chop and the roast chicken, both of which were very good. We wished that the restaurant offered a veal dish or two. The service was very good and the ambiance is great.
We’ve eaten here about half a dozen times in the last three years. The food is always excellent and was particularly good for our relatively small lunch. The service was badly under staffed, so it took us a long time to order, get our food, and pay. The waitress was very pleasant but she had far too many tables to serve.
The mushroom soup was as good as soup as we’ve ever had.
We will be back and hope for better service
Disappointing experience. Service was slow & food arrived lukewarm
My girlfriend being Vegetarian, was able to find perfect dishes to suit her taste. She ordered a roasted beet salad and a vegan ravioli, and was quite delighted. I had a Veal Shank that was fork tender and delicious. Unfortunately we filled up on the delicious hot bread that was brought to the table, so finishing was a challenge were not able to accomplish. The leftovers were an unexpected delight, the next day
Poggio is the best restaurant in Sausalito. The food is spectacular. I love this place and everyone I take with me also loves it. Don’t miss the Sformatino.
Good food. Very busy, if you sit in any of the access rows there is constant traffic. Tables for two should be a little more intimate.
Always love Poggio!
Best restaurant in Sausalito with great Cal-Italian fare.
Wonderful waitress, good staff, great wine, nice “booth” to relax in.
Delicious food, great service and ambiance.
Food overpriced for what you get.
Wine prices were exorbitant!!!
Will not return
Also restrooms were outside the restaurant and up a level by elevator!
Overall - poor value for what you receive!
Everyone agreed that our food was very good. Several of us ordered the small pasta servings. They were VERY small so if you have a good appetite don’t order the smaller servings. The salads were good.
Had bee here many times before. 1st table was very noisy (had requested quiet) and table top was unsteady. We were moved to a quiet booth.
Waitress was great. Clams were not good and skimpy. Crab salad and ham & cheese sandwich were good.
We LOVE Poggio. Always great and consistent! Thanks, Holly C. Kully
I NEVER TIRE OF EATING AT POGGIO. It is so incredibly solid and always a hit. The fish is super fresh, the dishes are creative and authentically Italiano, and the staff is awesome. I love the fresh house made pastas especially, but the salads are always close to my heart. The only thing Im not wild about is the Steak, but Im the only one. I highly recommend this beautifully-appointed, European-influenced spot.
Poggio's remains one of my favorite north bay restaurants. The ambience is elegant, and the food is always wonderful. The menu requires some study, because it never has any of the standard "Italian" entrees we Americans are used to. But in fact, the menu is more like those at fine restaurants in Italy. The service on this visit was really slow, and the waiter was inattentive. But we were enjoying our dinner so much, we hadn't realized how slow the service had been until we finished our meal and had a long wait for the check. If you go, be sure to order the panna cotta -- one of the best anywhere.
Food was good as always .
Fabulous! We've been to Poggio a dozen times and it's always excellent. The menu variety, quality of each dish, and friendly service are outstanding. For its location in Sausalito, lunch is surprisingly good value. We had a superb lunch: pear salad, grilled calamari, meatballs, duck confit (fantastic - succulent, perfectly stewed on a fresh endive salad), carpaccio and topped off by panne cotta and tiramisu. Great ambience too.
I always enjoy the food here. It has a nice small bar, good drinks, great wine list and terrific atmosphere. The service is usually impeccable and the waiter boned my fish table-side which you rarely see here in the States. The generous portion of mashed potatoes, fluffy and light, were delicious. The sauce for the sole was perfect and looking forward to my next visit.
Consistently good quality food. 5 diners, all quite pleased with their dishes. Good wine list with lots of Italian options. Couple of complaints - I ordered a dinner-sized pasta dish and I thought it was rather small; other pasta orders were appropriately sized. Waiter's accent was a bit strong and understanding him was a bit of a challenge. One of the orders was wrong, but he reordered from the kitchen and made good on it.
After several years of wanting to dine at Poggio's I finally made it. I was not disappointed at all and it was well worth the wait. I only wish I lived closer so I could become a regular.
Poggio never dissapoints! The food is always so delicious. Every bite is a delight. Service is fantastic and the ambiance lovely. On a nice day sitting on the patio is always fun (they do have heaters).
We needed a quite table, thank you for that. The food was remarkable and our server allowed us to tweak our orders. We asked him to decant our wine that we brought in, didn’t bat an eyelid. Memorable evening. Thnx
This restaurant is perfect for all kinds of occasions. Excellent food and great service! I highly recommend this place. Will definitely be back.
My favorite place in Sausalito to take a large group. Cozy, intimate, old school. Excellent food and wine list. It's like dining on a luxury cruise ship.
Wonderful restaurant! The crudi and carpaccio were exquisitely prepared and delicious. The Caesar salad was good and garlicky and served with white anchovies (my favourite) The carbonara was the best I have had in any restaurant and the Sole was sweet and tender. One of our favourite places to dine when we are in San Francisco
This is a special place- we drove an hour for dinner and it was worth it. Service is near perfect. Kitchen delivers a wide variety of special dishes. Wines are reasonably priced.
Food was good, but has been better. Seating was uncomfortable since the restaurant tried to maximize on seating as many couples as possible on Valentine’s day. It was not very romantic.
great staff & delicious gourmet food
