It was so awesome to be able to finally dine out again!! Of course, we wanted to choose our favorite Sausalito restaurant for our first night out since the Covid-19 Pandemic started and to celebrate the adoption of our new little dog Archie.
We picked Poggio as our first dining out experience in almost 3 months and it was superlative ! Seated outside in gorgeous weather in beautiful surroundings, the service, food and wine were as phenomenal as ever. Whether you are long time local devotees like us or this is your first time, the warm and personable management and staff go above and beyond to make the experience magical. After a forced long separation we have a whole new appreciation for the enormity of the contributions of our local restaurant industry to our quality of life. We have missed you Poggio!
We love Poggio! Wonderful 35th wedding anniversary! Love the chicken!
It was my daugther’s birthday. 6 of us decided to take a break from all Corona bad news and “social distancing” to go to Poggios. We had a blast. The waiters informed us that everyone is in a multi-hand washing mode and careful.
The restaurant was not as busy as the usual.
Food and Service was amazing as always!
I would say, this is the best Restaurant in Marin County!
This is a wonderful restaurant with a welcoming comfortable space, friendly and attentive service, and very fresh and tasty food. The bread, which you have to order, should not be missed. The tuna tartar was one of the best I have had in a long time. Both pastas we had were perfectly cooked and presented. We will be returning soon.
We have been coming since a birthday celerbration last March and have visited numerous times since then. Deb was our server and the one we request when we book, except when she is not working on weekends! Both weekends over the past year we have also had wonderfully competent and genuinely helpful servers.
I recomment Poggio to friends and family. My favorite. And, we love Deb!
We love this restaurant— fabulous spaghetti with clams, scallops with asparagus, grilled chicken and pork chop for our party. Also a delicious beet salad and wonderful wines: Pinot Bianco from Alte Adige and. Valpolicello from Northern Italy. Very nice service. We shall return!
Been to Poggio's many times, this visit was the best. Love the clubby, mirrored atmosphere. Sevice was attentive and responsive. Food excellent
A good experience. Good value and enjoyable. The service was also good.
A grand birthday lunch is where Poggio really shined after some hit or miss dinners experiences. The kitchen had the focus one would hope for - beautifully prepared and plated dishes. The Bistecca is one of the best luxury meal values in the Bay Area - choose asparagus and roast potatoes for accompaniments.
The service could be a bit more crisp - more deferential and less indifferent.
We’ll be back.
Excellent, reliable food in a beautiful setting. Can't beat the value of the food. Our favorite place in Marin!
They did not honor my two requests from my open table reservation. . Table near window or candle in the dessert we ordered. Luckily there was one remaining table near the window open but they did not reserve it. Server disappeared and we waited 15 minutes for water and bread.
I’ve dined at poggio many times so I was very disappointed. II didn’t make an issue as it was my guest’s birthday. It’s an expensive restaurant. They should do better.
Always make a point to have a meal when we are in the San Fran area. -always amazing food and always made to feel like we are regulars and at home.
Food is always consistently good in this beautiful restaurant. It’s the locals favorite.
Poggio is a very nice restaurant and great for a celebration. The food is wonderful and drinks are well made. My only criticism is that the service can be a bit less than you would expect from a fine dining establishment. The server we had was fine but not outstanding or personable in any way. The bussers were friendly and work hard but in a pricey restaurant, I wouldn't expect them to pile dishes in front of you on the table, take things away while you're still eating or clank dishes loudly when removing them. But that being said, this is one of our favorite places to go and to bring friends. I think a little more elegant attention to detail would be nice but perhaps given the location, it doesn't matter to the owners.
This was our first trip to this restaurant. We had read reviews about how romantic it was. We were celebrating our 66th wedding anniversary, and probably had higher expectations than were realistic. It was OK, but not what we were anticipating.
We changed our reservation request from out side to indoor as the weather turned and felt we were given a table in the traffic lane but waiter was very good and attentive. The table location was appropriate for a walk in but not for a repeat customer with a reservation.
Always a lively spot! Great food and good value.
Really nice place to take a date. The service was excellent and so was the food. The portions were a little bit small but the quality of the dishes we ordered was superb. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone
We went for the monthly Tuesday night special, which, for February, was Porchetta. Oh YUM!!!!!!! the absolute best, scrumptious porchetta (succulent pork with crispy crunchy skin - perfection) served with giant white beans in a sauce that was "Da Morire"!
Wonderful attentive staff especially our server Deb. Fantastic. The mashed potatoes were the best ever made with exceptional olive oil. Saus Blanc Wine was perfect with the salmon.
We had an outdoor table for four on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant and neighborhood in general was fairly quiet on the day, so we had our pick of the tables. All the outdoor tables appeared to have overhead heating, which was nice since they were in the shade.
We had a prosciutto pear salad, pork tagliatelle, and sopressata pizza. The best dish was the pasta; fresh, al dente, and well proportioned. The weakest dish was the pizza, whose cheese and salami made for excessive grease. The salad was okay.
The service and overall experience were great. I expect to return.
I was disappointed that we did not get a booth as I had requested.
Excellent food, great service and the best part was being allowed to stay at our table for several hours. It was lunch time, but greatly appreciated that we were not being moved out! That allowed for a wonderful visit with old friends.
Great food and service
This is why I keep on coming back
Take a short trip to one of those elegant yet warm and welcoming Europeans restaurants you find in sprinkled throughout Italy. Poggio is always a solid 10 .... the service is impeccable and the cuisine is fresh local and simply prepared w great attention to detail. The duck confit salad is my favorite with toasted hazelnuts and endive. All of the salads are superb!!!! The pizzas and pashas are solid. The halibut is perfection. Excellent cappuccinos. Don’t forget breakfast w the best waffles I’ve ever had. Save the airfare and go to Italy right here is lovely Sausalito- just blink your eyes, it resembles the Amalfi coast - Caio Caio Bella!
Entrees for our party of 5 were all very good. Two pasta dishes, one halibut, one short ribs & 1 pizza. Desserts however were so great - ok but nothing special. Noisy atmosphere so hard to hear table mates.
Great vegetables, wonderful service. Ricardo is a terrific, professional waiter and host.
Our server was great, very friendly. However, it must have been very busy because our service was slow.
Other than that, the food was awesome and the ambience was as always beautiful.
The best food and service in Sausalito. Frequent customers for years now and the food/service just keeps getting better and better
Thank you guys, you are the best!
My husband and I love this place and so do all of the guests we take there. The food is always outstanding and th4 service is great. Love the area too. Sausalito is lovely.
Meeting with a long time friend.
Is my favorite restaurant. Consistently excellent and delicious.
Never disappointed at Poggio.....delicious food, great service. Can gat a little noisy.
We loved the food and our server Marvin was the best very friendly very attentive, but the buser boy literally sat next to me at the end of our date and was trying to flirt in front of my husband. It was very awkward.
Good food, atmosphere and service
Food was mediocre- we were at the restaurant for vday and the seating was awful. Host people did not communicate well - we had to remind them we were waiting to be seated for our 8pm red. Our waiter was very good. Rude guests talking loud to people tables away... very odd vibe.
Both the food and service were outstanding. In fact it was such a great experience we returned the next evening for another dinner instead of trying a different restaurant.
