I hop[e when we go to Italy this fall the food will be as good. I rarely order desserts because I figure the wine has already taken care of my calorie intake, but the lemon mousse was worth every sweet bite.
It's a pretty place in Sausalito and the menu presents some novel takes on traditional Italian. The execution of the interesting-looking menu was just average, though, & where things really fell down was on the service side. Our server communicated with us exclusively in two word phrases "want drink?", "want food?", etc and couldn't really tell us anything about the menu or the wines. Sadly, this seems like yet another one of those great concepts that falls apart in practice due to lack of supervision from the people who created the concept.
Such impeccable service and outstanding food. This is a must for any special occasion, or if you want authentic, delicious Italian food. Even though the space is large, noise was not an issue. We had a booth toward the back. The cauliflower apps are to die for! Our table had a mix of pasta, seafood and pork chop and everyone was very happy. The staff was very attentive (not too much so) and accommodating.
For lunch - excellent appetizer and soup. Excellent service. The most delicious bread.
Perhaps one of the best meals we have had there. Every dish but one was excellently prepared and that one was still quite good. Wine selection continues to be strong though I would like to see a half bottle champagne in addition to the Italian sparkling options.
Service was spot on and the timing has no noticeable flaws.
Delicious- starting with the warm bread and on to delicious pasta and wine. The perfect dinner on a quiet weeknight in Sausalito. Grazie mille.
Great service, great food, lovely ambiance.
All make for a reliable experience
More than expected which in itself made it a wonderful evening.
Deb was our server and guide. Impressive and real.
Everything about this restaurant was perfect. The most amazing food, service, wine, ambiance. The gnudi was as good as any pasta from the best restaurants in Italy and being from NY I am very critical! The margarita pizza was delicious and despite a “simple” meal - one of the best pizzas in CA. The lemon mouse should be illegal - it was that good!
Fiona the hostess was flexible and accommodating as we as was everyone else there. I cannot wait to go back!
Love this place!! My fav!!!!!
The food as well as the service were a ten out of ten and I don’t award a ten in the vast majority of cases. We were seated immediately upon our arrival. Adam our waiter was entirely invested in our dining experience. Our table was located in a more private and romantic part of the restaurant.
We will return soon!
Menu displayed current healthy trends, but lacked flavor in starters and entrees-no pop. Salads were exceptional.
Service was attentive if not rushed, but server was well informed and verified cow dairy allergy issue with kitchen in all dishes.
Menu printing/font different but harder to read than necessary missed that the list of dessert beverages featured infused/flavored grappas so when ordering a muscato it was a surprise. Server quickly exchanged with a better alternative after consulting with the bar. New diners of course so a introduction to each category might have clued us in.
Look forward to our next visit.
Poggio is always great! Starting with Tony at the bar, who entertains us with his funny stories and sarcastic attitude...we love it!
Our dinner was delicious as usual and the wait staff attentive.
We have never had a disappointing experience at Poggio and dine there quite frequently because of that!
If only all restaurants could be as consistent...
Really great food, service, ambiance. It’s my second visit, and I certainly liked it as much as my first. Looking forward to my third.
Loved Debbie as our server. Everyone very friendly. Love the food.
Always beautiful, always fabulous service and always delicious food....thank you, Poggio....

We love Poggio and come here frequently. Our server Debi was outstanding as always ! Just a small note - my Francabolli pasta was lukewarm when it was served.
We enjoyed Poggio so much that we ate there twice in two days! The outstanding dish was the Scallops, perfectly caramelized and delicious. The Margharita pizza was also perfect, with a signed crust, delicious sauce and creamy mozzarella. They have a wonderful wine list which is reasonably priced. I enjoyed a Vermentino which paired perfectly with the Scallops. My husband enjoyed the trout. Service on both occasions was warm, unhurried and efficient.
We live in SF but it's easy and fun to go to Sausalito to Poggio for dinner. We have something from every course, share it all family style, and we always have the Bistecca!
It's a perfect place to take friends who are visiting.
Love Poggio. Consistently great service and really tasty food. Our favorite neighborhood spot for special nights out.
Food was not hot. Pasta was preboiled. Parmesan cheese was yucky pre-shredded stuff. Will. It be back.
This is a large restaurant but with a cozy feeling. My wife truly enjoyed her crab dish. My Bucatini was not as good as my wife’s. The service was excellent. My only complaint is the pricing.
The food and service were wonderful. We started with the asparagus and egg. It was so uniquely delicious. I had the gnudi and my husband the paparpadelle. Both were amazing.
We had a delightful evening, but unfortunately the food was lacking.
The roasted cauliflower was a huge disappointment-it looked like it had been precooked then burned in the oven, and there were a couple of raisins in the bottom of the dish. Didn’t match the description at all.
The salads were delicious. My gnudi were good but I didn’t think the ragu was a good match for the delicateness of the pasta.
The drinks and wine were excellent.
Poggio was an excellent experience- food, service, atmosphere. My husband greatly enjoyed his roasted artichoke and his clam linguine. My salad and my asparagus/mushroom pizza were delicious. Santos, our waiter, was informative and helpful by explaining menu choices.
amazing food and wine great atmosphere definitely going back.
Love everything about Poggio. Great food, atmosphere, drinks and the best bartender in the world...Tony!
Had great valentines dayfood was great and service excellent.
We're local and often overlook Poggio, but have recently rediscovered it! There's a focus on the decor at Poggio, which is very nice, that seems like it would not be matched by the quality of the food. But the food is really great! We've been a couple times in the last few weeks and both times we were very happy with all of our dishes, which were all very subtle but delicious at the same time - like really good Italian food is in Italy! Delizioso!
Our food was absolutely delicious and the service was 5 starts. Attentive but not cloying. Our waiter was friendly, personal and professional. The lights were going on and off because of a generator having trouble next door but the kitchen was still functioning and the restaurant was lit with battery supplied candles. It was romantic and "light show" of the lights going on and off was fun. We felt cozy, well-fed and happy inside enjoying the delicious cuisine. An outstanding evening overall. Thank you!
Due to a power outage on Feburary 13, we were unable to see our food (a very dimly lighted candle was provided) during most of our meal. We expected that the restaurant might comp our dessert or a drink, but that didn't happen. The food was good, however.
Antonio at the bar delights with the surprisingly delicious rose bubbles in adorable little bottles. (Usually, the sparkling wines that come in small bottles are awful, but this one is quite yummy--and the bottle is damned adorable!) We were catching up and were so slow to order that the power went out before we did, but the lovely staff took it in stride and kept the yumminess coming, along with candles, without missing a beat. Cozy, warm decor and friendly inviting staff would make this a must-do-often even if the food weren't as exceptional as it is. Go--and ENJOY!!
Friendly hostess, helpful, good server and excellent food. Wish I could dinein there every day!
Only criticism I have is there is no toilet in the restaurant and I had to take the elevator into the hotel which was somewhat confusing They could benefit by installing a restroom at the rear corner of the restaurant somewhere as the MBO’s changes if you have to leave a restaurant and take an elevator
A ladies birthday luncheon brought us to Poggio on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. Cannot think of anywhere I would prefer to be sitting on a rainy day (or any day) than Poggio. The setting and ambience is always lovely. We had a big booth and a wonderful wait person. Food never disappoints. We were able to while away two hours enjoying the event.
Poggio consistently offers the most delicious food in Marin. Great service, warm and friendly staff, and a beautiful ambiance make every meal - lunch or dinner - an event to remember.
Great dinner in Sausalito and reasonably priced. My wife had the crab risotto and I had the short rib agnolotti. Both excellent. The grilled cauliflower side was good, but not outstanding. Service and atmosphere were both great. We got wines by the glass and the pour was very generous.
Nice place for local dinner. Good wine list. Missed on the salad, brought correct replacement salad after everyone else had completed their's. Not a crisis
Waiter very attentive and accommodating. Food delicious. Yea valet park.
