I always enjoy the food here. It has a nice small bar, good drinks, great wine list and terrific atmosphere. The service is usually impeccable and the waiter boned my fish table-side which you rarely see here in the States. The generous portion of mashed potatoes, fluffy and light, were delicious. The sauce for the sole was perfect and looking forward to my next visit.
Consistently good quality food. 5 diners, all quite pleased with their dishes. Good wine list with lots of Italian options. Couple of complaints - I ordered a dinner-sized pasta dish and I thought it was rather small; other pasta orders were appropriately sized. Waiter's accent was a bit strong and understanding him was a bit of a challenge. One of the orders was wrong, but he reordered from the kitchen and made good on it.
After several years of wanting to dine at Poggio's I finally made it. I was not disappointed at all and it was well worth the wait. I only wish I lived closer so I could become a regular.
Poggio never dissapoints! The food is always so delicious. Every bite is a delight. Service is fantastic and the ambiance lovely. On a nice day sitting on the patio is always fun (they do have heaters).
We needed a quite table, thank you for that. The food was remarkable and our server allowed us to tweak our orders. We asked him to decant our wine that we brought in, didn’t bat an eyelid. Memorable evening. Thnx
This restaurant is perfect for all kinds of occasions. Excellent food and great service! I highly recommend this place. Will definitely be back.
Wonderful restaurant! The crudi and carpaccio were exquisitely prepared and delicious. The Caesar salad was good and garlicky and served with white anchovies (my favourite) The carbonara was the best I have had in any restaurant and the Sole was sweet and tender. One of our favourite places to dine when we are in San Francisco
This is a special place- we drove an hour for dinner and it was worth it. Service is near perfect. Kitchen delivers a wide variety of special dishes. Wines are reasonably priced.
Food was good, but has been better. Seating was uncomfortable since the restaurant tried to maximize on seating as many couples as possible on Valentine’s day. It was not very romantic.
great staff & delicious gourmet food
Yum! This was a return visit for us. We loved our late lunch at Poggio! Two of us shared lots of small plates and salad and one large pasta. Everything was delicious. One great taste treat after another: Grilled calamari, amazing mushroom custard, beet salad and grilled cauliflower ending up with a large creamy carbonara. Desserts sounded great but neither of us had room to try them.
We won't wait so long to return--really excellent meal with a professional courteous waiter made a memorable birthday experience
I have dined at this wonderful restaurant on numerous occasions, different groups of friends for lunch or dinner. Both food and service are excellent. They have never disappoint me or my group ! Fun vibrant place downtown Sausalito enjoyed by locals and tourists all over!
Service was prompt and friendly. And our server was able to intelligently answer any questions we had. The food was simply amazing. Can’t wait to go back and try some more things on the menu!
Very nice! They had the table I requested
had a wonderful time! hostess was sweet as was entire staff. requested and got a window seat and they even brought us a lemon meringue dessert in celebration of our anniversary - total surprise but what a nice touch!
Poggio never disappoints and this was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. We will be back.
On the main street in Sausalito. Valet parking, but also street parking. Outdoor tables for sitting with your pup. Excellent meal, Bucatini, pasta was full of pancetta and fresh peas. Roasted calamari and roasted brussel sprouts, both sides, but plenty for meal and to share.
Panna Cotta for dessert made for the perfect finish. Take a walk along the Bay after your meal.
Ricardo was an excellent server. Our anniversary meal at Poggio was special with just the right amount of attention.
Manager Amy is awesome! She makes sure that everything is taken care of and recognizes LT patrons by name.
Very accommodating, professional, and personal! Agreed to all our requests! Food really well presented and very good too! I have recommended Poggio’s to many friends!
We had an early lunch. The waitperson was excellent. The menu has lots of choices. All 5 of us decided to have pasta. Each of us had a different pasta and everyone enjoyed what they chose. I had the butternut ravioli with brown butter and sage, it was excellent.
We have been there several times and will definitely go back again
We live in Sausalito, so we stroll from home along the waterfront and pretend that we are spending the evening in Italy by dining at Poggio. The Tuesday night $35 prix fixes dinners are amazing ; 5 small plate appetizers included various combinations of fresh greens or vegetables with a variety of additions like succulent, smokey calamari, tender bits of crudo, ricotta salata, various nuts and amazing flavors. Our entree was porchetta and beans. Okay, I had a little trepidation about having pork and beans. However, it was perfect as a shared dish. The pork included generous portions of spit-roasted thin chop slices along with bits of crispy skin. The sauce on the beans made the idea of turning vegetarian appealing. Dessert: a cloud like meyer lemon mouse topped by chunky pieces of meringue that complemented the mousse perfectly. Plus, the service was perfectly timed and flawless. Heaven!
Delicious food and excellent service! Grateful they could accommodate our request for a special birthday dessert--their wonderful panna cotta.
Very good Italian food and a charming restaurant with excellent service and the real ability to hear your dining companions speak.
A special occasion - it was Super Bowl Sunday and we always go to out dinner as the restaurants are not crowded. We are not football fans.
Have dined many times and love the food. Always something innovative.
I have to say I’ve had better food and service at Olive Garden! We started out with the Gemlettuce which was great. It’s basically a simple Caesar salad. The disappointment was the 2 entree’s we ordered.. I had the Cilhitarra my wife ordered the Francobolli... Both were not at all what you would expect. My dish was a lobster based pasta with a Dungeness crab in a cream sauce. Sounds yummy but the noodles were gummy and dry, very little crab and no cream. The Francobolli was supposed to be a cheese filled ravioli with butternut squash.. what we were served was a dry gummy ravioli with 3 pieces of butternut squash the size of the carrots that come out of a peas and carrots can...then the service . Don’t expect much... We sat for 30 minutes without a refill..
Chose this just from the Open Table option. Went for lunch on a Saturday and sat outside. There are heaters out there, but the weather was great so even if they weren't there it would have been pleasant. Sitting outside is great for people/puppy watching since people are going by constantly along with cyclists (not an issue). The food was absolutely divine. Small portions are small - and to me just the right size. Listen to the server if they suggest something in addition to what you ordered. I ordered a small plate pasta (short rib ravioli) and the carpaccio. Wish I could go back, but don't even live in the state let alone the area. If I lived there, I would be a regular.
Splendid lunch on a splendid day. Grilled calimari to start that was all world followed by the chicken pappardelle that was best pasta I’ve had in ages. Attentive service and inviting ambience. Didn’t expect this quality in a touristy spot. Don’t miss it.
Four of us dining; I had branzino (sea bass) which was tasty but overcooked, the best part was watching the waiter de-bone it. Others had the chicken under brick (good) quail (also good) and a pasta dish (maybe the best of the lot). It is an Italian place after all. I have dined there before and food is usually good but not great - love the decor and location. Service was excellent.
One of those restaurants that sets the standard of comfort
