Always lovely, inviting, great food, great staff
Great Tuesday night supper. We went for my friend’s birthday. Everything was delicious.
We had the Tues fix press dinner. Outstanding. Our server was prompt, attentive and fun
The setting is lovely in Sausalito. The food always good...
Lots of good menu choices...
Poggio never disappoints! It remains our go-to restaurant from the most casual of experiences such as pizza and rose on the patio to Bistecca A' la Fiorentina for two on date night. Highly recommend!
Every year - my parents visit from New York and every year we have an awesome, fun, deliciosi dining experience at Poggio.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner. One of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, one entree did not arrive until well after we were done sharing the one that showed up and we were done eating. Said OK to take it to go and waited another half hour. Usually service is very good, not this time.
Delightful, staff work so hard to make it a great experience. Food is impeccable.
The San Francisco Chronicle voted Poggio to be one of the top restaurants in the Bay Area. It is a bit pricey, and the portions are not very generous, but the food and service are excellent. It's a great place to people watch. If you have a dog, you can sit at a sidewalk table in warm weather.
Very good Thanksgiving meal and good selection of wines. Will definitely want to come back and try something off their normal menu. Their wood oven pizzas looked amazing.
Always top drawer experience for us. Great to offer regular menu in addition to traditional Thanksgiving fare.
On a cold November day, Poggio Trattoria was warm and inviting with old school ambiance, a quiet table where a conversation could be carried on with ease. The staff was welcoming, cheerful and efficient. They know the menu and seem to enjoy the job which leads me to believe they are well and fairly treated by management. The food was outstanding as always with a pleasant surprise for me, a leg of duck confit had been added to the menu and was delicious. Started with a very good Manhattan and ended with a creamy panacotta. Always look forward to our lunch at Poggio and never disappointed.
Yet another spectacular meal! Such a fun vibrant scene.
This is - what a good italien restaurant should be.
It has become our restaurant - no others - and we always come back.
A fine organization...........
The food and service were excellent.
Disappointed with the truffle specials— the tajarin portion was ridiculously large and covered in a cream, nether of which is Piemontese.
Absolutely the best! food preparation, service, all was over the top!
One of our favorite restaurants in Sausalito
Our server was wonderful. The food, as always delicious. Loved, the whole experience.
Really enjoyed the Tuesday night "family" dinner. Five starters and duck (rare breast and roasted thigh) to share. The pumpkin cheesecake was also good. Very good service and excellent wine list.
normally, we love Poggio. i have never had a bad meal there and we have eaten there probably 15-20 times. this was a first. i had petrale sole and it was so overcooked it was hard, like a piece of leather. i sent it back and told the waiter it was overcooked. i got the another piece of petrale but it was just as bad if not worse. this is an expensive piece of fish ($30+). i was shocked and it will be sometime before we go back.
The BEST Italian Restaurant in the Bay Area. I drove from Palo Alto to dine with a good friend.
I have been going to Poggio ever since it opened. All in all, I think it's the best run restaurant in Marin County. Larry Mindel has made the wise decision to make the two most vital people in the restaurant, the manager and chef, partners in the restaurant. It is a perfect example.
Food was not that great. Petrale was too oily and the sea bass way too salty. We would not recommend either of these dishes to anyone. If we were not with other people we would have sent the dishes back. Jinnie
Poggio has great food and wine. It is our go to place when we are in Marin County.
Our server Bart was fantastic. Thank you!
We enjoyed a delightful dinner the other night. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the fish was delicious and the roasted chicken was good and juicy. Poggio delivered a delicious meal with good service on a regular basis. Job Well Done!
A little disappointed in service and food this time. We are frequent guests at Poggio but this time was not up to par. The polpiette were a little burned on the bottom and the bread that came with it was very dry and hard. We have ordered the beet salad many times, but it was not up to par this time. The presentation was totally different and not good at all. The buratta salad was not great either and presentation not the same as it usually is. We had to ask for bread and it was ok but not great. Seems as though we got some of the leftovers the second time we asked. We should not have to ask for bread at all. Pastas were good as usual. Sorry to leave such a negative review, but we are Sausalito residents and frequent patrons of Poggio - very disappointing this time around.
Love Poggio’s pasta but disappointed at amount of truffles shaved onto my pasta. Every year at this time, they have truffles for one week. The video I took showed truffles left on the shaver vs my dish of pasta. We have gone to truffle week before and my previous years pasta had more truffles. The truffles cost an extra $45 to add to a $23 dish. Expensive but it’s a once a year splurge. We just won’t do it again here. Raised the matter with the manager. No apology. Just a $14 credit on our bill.
Scallops were small dry and over cooked and the “food “ they were placed on small dark green pebbles were nasty.
I'd wanted to try Poggio for quite a while and finally had the chance. I can understand why it's been successful for as long as it has. My only reservation is the incredible din one must endure to have a conversation, but that seems to be characteristic of most restaurants in the Bay Area. As it was in 1850, San Francisco and its surrounding environs is now a place of raucous, poorly clad, overnight millionaires, and one cannot fault Poggio for that.
Delicious food, attentive service and traditional ambiance made for a great dinner. We will return
Excellent service and food was impressive. The pastas are Top notch. Highly recommend.
Outstanding all around, fabulous food and service
The food was outstanding and exceptional. The service was spotty. Waiter was pleasant but inattentive. Too distracted by 2 larger parties and he didn't have sufficient support from the several other wait staff to handle the load, it seems. The vegetable side to one of the entrees was 25 minutes late...after 3 different requests to remember to bring it. Several of the items we wished to take home were forgotten, or disposed of...instead of bagged for take home. It took some of the joy out of the visit which was an important celebration for us.
Service was non-existent. Carbonara needed more flavor & salt, was not the rich tasting pasta you expect when ordering carbonara.
We were hosting a guest from Milan (she loved Poggio), and at her suggestion had white truffles shaved over veal tar-tar as an appetizer. OMG. Amazing! The rest of the meal was also fantastic.
Love Poggio -- it has to be my favorite Italian restaurant in Marin. Fantastic pasta in particular, but everything our recent group of 10 people had was phenomenal. Great wine list, too. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful birthday family celebration and our waiter was fantastic! Thank you
Every time we go, we are reminded of the joy of eating… And how everyday food is just sustenance, while eating at Poggio is an experience. It’s now our favorite restaurant for every special occasion.
