Always an awesome experience the food is amazing and the atmosphere is rad! Pod my favorite restaurant 😊
Excellent diverse menu. Great sushi options. If you are hungry right away, sit at the sushi conveyor counter and just start munching on some rolls.
At Pod to celebrate my daughter's graduation from college. Alway a good place to go, everyone seem to enjoy themselves and we were able to sit in one of the pod booths that made it nice for a party of 11.
Our server was slow and unresponsive at times. This was my worst experience at Pod in the over 10 years living in Philly. The managers tried to help but the server was horrible.
The food isn’t good for the price, took too long and everyone didn’t get served at the same time
Futuristic, hip space with different seating configurations - pods, little two seaters, bar lounge space, and standard tables. Next time I will sit at the sushi bar with conveyor belt moving sushi small plates around the bar.
The crab rice, lobster sushi roll, grilled eggplant, and lamb chops were the winners. Service was attentive and helpful, as menu is big with sooo many different offerings and ways to eat.
The menu is interesting. The waitstaff helped me navigate my food allergies to find a great meal.
We haven’t been to Pod in years. So glad we decided to go there tonight. Everything was perfect!!
Great food, fun atmosphere, very much a college vibe.
Been there many times, usually before an event at the Annenberg Center for Performing Arts. Tried Louie Louie across from the center but so loud! So Pod, we are back! And sorry we left.
I've been to Pod many times over the years and have had some very good meals there, but it is way past its prime and should be avoided at all costs (and the cost is very high). There are dozens if not hundreds of newer outstanding innovative and deserving offerings in Philadelphia. Aspects of the physical plant are bordering on shabby and this space is way past the time for restoration. However, this would be tolerable if it was not for serious problems with the food and value proposition. The sushi is not well prepared, the portions are EXTREMELY small, the rice under the sushi appears to be prepared by an amateur, the fish is adequate in quality, but certainly not excellent. Overall, the sushi is not in the same league as that from more focused sushi/Japanese restaurant. Portions in general are and always have been very small, but currently the small and large plates suffer from a lack of craftsmanship and a lack of creativity that would make this compromise in size palatable. Several dishes were atrocious, Waiters should warn customers to avoid the the "Jumbo" shrimp Rubata. These were definitely NOT Jumbo (think 15 shrimp per pound), two plain tasting small shrimp on "toothpicks' for 16 dollars , the morsel of a lobster tail for 16 dollars was akin to a crawfish (literally in size) and was rubbery, tasteless, and barely edible. The short rib lo mein and Shrimp Pad Thai were acceptable primarily because they were reasonable size portions and among the more affordable items on the menu. A "large" carafe of house wine is 18 dollars and is barely enough to fill 2 glasses. This was a graduation celebration for 7 that cost 450 dollars and left all disappointed, still hungry, and wishing we had gone instead to Han Dynasty for about 300 dollars less. In this price range, there is no justification or argument for patronizing Pod, Philadelphia has moved on, Pod is stale and overpriced. For infinitely better and creative cuisine, go to Double Knot
Nancy was great.
The food was AWE SOME
Food was predictable (in a good way), but the service was slow, not particularly friendly, and the pacing was really off.
Food was presented beautifully but was a bit lacking in depth of flavor. The dining room is pretty cool and futuristic like with the lighting and structure, but some areas were kinda dingy and aging like the bathroom area. Service was strange...almost too attentive as they were cleaning off dirty plates one at a time every time it got empty, but then not courteous as you'd expect in a nice joint. This all might have been OK, but for the price things should have been a little more on-point and crisp overall.
A fun place with great food!
Our server was unaccommodating and bordering on rude. He had an attitude and it was clear that he did not like his job. The food was extremely salty and we were not even offered a farewell by the 2 hostesses and manager who stood by the door as we left. Additionally, $16.00 for 2 (not jumbo as the menu states) shrimp is ridiculous. I would not return.
Food, service, drinks were outstanding! The place is funky and timeless- has been around a while though and could use a little cleanup (ceiling tiles falling, maybe could use a new paint job). The chairs are really low for the table and a bit uncomfortable. The food definitely makes up for it, but a little sprucing up would go a long way.
Repeat customer over the years - highly recommend the Restaurant. We arrived at 6:30-ish Saturday night ended up with a table in the back next to the kitchen-Nothing else available – but it was OK. Responsive service through delivery of the food. Couldn’t get server’s attention to order a another beer. Eventually stopped passing servers who was very helpful . the restaurant was full and very busy, it took too long to get the beverage. Other than that I highly recommend the place and will go back again.
I've been going to Pod for years. The food is consistently good and they are accommodating to special requests and food allergies. The table service has always been good. This time, however, the hostess was having a bad day. She greeted us by talking into her computer screen which made her inaudible to us. And then, she couldn't hear what we were saying. She seemed annoyed that we had a reservation. Not the type of service I expect at Pod. Another observation is that the facility is tired. It was one of the original Starr restaurants and is showing its age. It's constructed mostly out of concrete which doesn't age well. Pod is no exception. The placed needs a physical overhaul.
Really solid food. Great flavors, great variety. Will return.
the waiter was very friendly, great experience
Peter our server was awesome. It would be nice to have a kid's option but overall the quality of food was excellent. There was not a long wait to be served food. I recommend this to anyone who comes to Philadelphia.
Wide selection of items...More than just sushi. Plates were a good size and fair priced. Some items were a bit spicier than usual ( pad Thai). Noisy but fun atmosphere.
Came from out of town - decided to try it from reviews and went there with sushi loving family
They loved it - the ambience is unique and fun. Great experience .
One bathroom was dirty and the water didn't run. The second bathroom was clean and useful.
Pod was great, as usual! The food, drinks and atmosphere are always good. Server was very nice.
Excellent food and service, great decor, and recommend for lunch or dinner whether for one, a few, or many.
The service was great. My wife's chicken dish was dry. The restaurant seemed a little worn down/tired and there was a humid smell, like someone just mopped the floors. Star restaurants have always been great. I hope this one becomes great again.
A little noisy but food was great.
The only problem was 2 of the drinks were very late serving them
It was great! Everything we were looking for in food, service, and environment. Would definitely recommend and be back!
Pod is a favorite lunch spot for special occasions. Had a wonderful birthday lunch there!
Very nice in general, but it would be great if the "pods" had the option for light that is not tinted pink, purple, blue, etc. At least one of our party was made very uncomfortable by the tinted lights, even on the most neutral setting.
Food was great but service was just ok. Hostess was not very welcoming. Additionally, we came to celebrate a birthday (i even specified on open table) but that was not addressed. Before we could order dessert the
I used to think of Pod as a special occasion type of place, but that was a number of years ago. Although I'd return, I'd have lower expectations. It's still good for groups because of the pods, but I found the food to be nothing special. The sushi doesn't seem to be as good as it was a few years ago.
I'd STRONGLY recommend staying away from any upscale liquor - or at least checking the price before ordering. I had one drink - Don Julio Tequila on the rocks, which is what I usually drink. It was a small pour with one big ice cube, and when the check came I was shocked to see that they charged $21 for it. The PA State Stores sell a full bottle of exactly what I had for $51.00. The most I ever paid before was $17; I thought that was a bit pricey for Philadelphia as well, but the glass had about 50% more tequila than the drink at Pod.
In addition, my note on Open Table that it was my daughter's birthday was never communicated to our waiter. He felt badly about it when he found out, and they didn't charge us for our two desserts, which was very nice.
I'd still recommend it, but other than the decor, in my opinion it's nothing special.
The bathrooms filthy...not clean in restaurant...service was so bad...wagyu came off the rock cold!!!!
Space is looking a little long in the tooth. Needs a refresh.
Good food although the sushi rice could be a bit better. Everything was still good. Reasonable prices for the quality. Great drinks
