It was the worst experience ever. With the reservation we have to wait 30 min. Noise level was really high and server forgot to bring cake for my wifes birthday eventhough mention them in advance.

I wouldnt recomand this overpriced place with bad service to anyone.

This was my first time trying Pod and it was a very pleasant experience ! Good menu selection, ambiance was modern/futuristic. The space was larger than i expected. There was a conveyer belt that I’ll definitely have to try next time. Our server was attentive and friendly. A little pricey, but the food was delicious. I recommend at least trying once. 😁

Came with a group of 6 people for an early dinner and they put us in an elevated little room/pod which was fabulous. As the dinner progressed, it got louder out in the rest of the restaurant, but stayed really easy to hear our guests in the pod. I would definitely come with a group and request that table. Food was really good. Some of us had sushi, some had rice or noodles, and we all enjoyed a variety of vegetarian appetizers that were all great.

The server was overbearing. Hovering -- always checking in -- way too much attentiveness. Kept interrupting our conversation. Important to pay attention to customers' needs -- but back off a bit!

Excellent mix of sushi options along with a Robata Grill. The chicken in lettuce leaves with peanut sauce is outstanding as are the chicken satay skewers. On the day we were there service was very spotty took a long time just to get water or even a drink at first. It's a great place to order a number of different things and share them at the table.

The food was very good. Highlights are the pork buns and the crispy shrimp. We were not as keen on the lobster and duck fried rice and the balsamic cauliflower. Sushi was fresh and quite good.

Pod is awesome -- checks all the boxes! Love the ultramodern decor. Great sushi, even though that is only part of a highly varied menu. And the chef is clearly having a lot of fun: particularly fond of the fluffernutter egg rolls and their presentation in a Chinese take-out box. Very cute.

Pod was once a pioneer. It is still a good restaurant especially popular with University of Pennsylvania students when their parents visit. That said, it's old. Many years and it's allure is wearing thing and in need of updating physically -- and the menu. Again still good, just not what it was 15 years ago

Two years ago four of us had a truly underwhelming meal at Morimoto. In the review I said the sushi is better at Pod. Both restaurants are under Stephen Starr’s very large umbrella and the contrast was interesting. Morimoto is meant to be taken very seriously but didn’t deliver whereas Pod, which certainly does not appear to take itself too seriously at all, has never failed to deliver the (best) goods.

We have been to Pod about 10 times and have always been impressed. Yes, you can go there and get pad thai and various Chinese dishes, but the star attractions are the sushi and the Japanese fare.

A good yardstick for determining how good a sushi restaurant is, is the tuna when it is available in varying degrees of fat. At Pod, you can get lean tuna plus medium and fatty. Get a flight of the three and see which tastes best. At most sushi places, the lean tuna is translucent pink slap with a slightly grainy texture. At a good sushi restaurant, the lean tuna is distinctly red and dense and has an intense flavour. Pod is such a place. The cheap one on the left end of flight may very well be the taste winner.

What makes Pod fun and interesting are the less traditional sushi offerings. The Rockin Spicy Tuna is a spicy tuna roll with a tempura rock shrimp atop each bite. Hardly legitimate sushi, but tasty and extremely well executed. Likewise the Hamachi Salsa Roll. But be warned; the jalapeño on top of each piece is hot.

The Frosty Wagyu Fried Rice with foie gras is also very good but it is a bit heavy so best left until later in the meal.

And finally there’s the house favorite Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. One might have cause to be wary of the one dish that is clearly singled out on the menu. But the spicy tuna on top of a rectangular log of fried sticky rice is really excellent. But again, save it for the end of the meal.

Food was excellent, service efficient and hostesses accommodating and seated immediately. However, I doubt I will return. The noise level is more than “energetic.” Add the music to the equation and for anyone over 60 it is not an experience that a choose to revisit. I have eaten at Pod for years, however, as my group ages this is not the atmosphere we opt to dine.

Love POD. Awesome menu.... Great sushi rolls and a wide variety of appetizers. Love the Lobster Pod roll and the Tuna roll. However, they are all great. The "real" California roll (real lump crab) another keeper!

The atmosphere is always nice. I'm disappointed that the Chilean Sea Bass, apricot sauce, sweet/hot mustard, and seafood rice are no longer on the menu. The $9.50 seafood fried rice has been replaced with a $19 crab rice that is not as tasty. The quality of the food has not declined. However, quality has taken a noticeable hit.

Great family get together with 10 people in a Pod. Being in a Pod definitely brings the noise exposure way way down. Zach was a great server, patient and helpful. Everything was perfect. I still miss the drink selection and the Caesar salad that is no longer on the menu. It is still our favorite Starr restaurant.

They were out of a few popular items like the sea bass. But they did make a dish I love that was no longer offered on the menu. I substituted the Bronzino and it was just ok. It in no way replaced the sea bass. Everything else was very good. My date ordered the chicken stir fry, that was excellent. The Haddock appetizer was also very good.
