Atmosphere was like we were in 1999. Menu was difficult to read, way overpriced, and food was not
very good. I would not go back there, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Sorry we chose Pod to
Excellent and creative Asian fusion cuisine. Unique progressive atmosphere. Service came with typical Philly attitude which I enjoy.
They have kept the menu fresh after many years. The wagyu cooked on a river rock table side is a real treat
Great place in University City. Definitely will be back.
Great place for some very cool, unique ambiance. Service was EXCELLENT. Food was amazing, had to get the Cheesecake which melted in my mouth. Superb place - all of our dishes were delicious, perfectly proportioned. Had a couple of drinks, very good as well. Three desserts were just beautiful and sinfully good. Loved this place, will be back FOR SURE in the near future. Need to get in one of those cool pods next time. Loved every minute there !
My daughter had been wanting to have dinner at POD for several years. My husband and I decided to take her and two friends there for dinner on her 21st birthday. We were very excited to be seated in one of the pods, but our excitement quickly soured from the moment we entered the pod. It was very dirty—there was a multitude of flecks of some kind of dirty substance on the ceiling that I just couldn’t help feeling like were going to fall on our heads and/or into the food at any second. Also, of the nine buttons on the wall to be used to change the lighting color within the pod, I think only about three of them worked. The entire restaurant was very dingy, dirty, and just plain tired. The food was fine, definitely not outstanding as we had anticipated, and our server was actually very good. POD was probably an amazing experience 10 years ago, but I have a feeling it has been in desperate need of a facelift for quite some time.
You gotta try their special nigiri
Awesome food, attentive staff, calming ambience quiet enough my folks could hear well.
Sushi was good, I wouldn’t say it’s blow your socks off, but better than other places.
As per usual, it was a great time over great food with great company! Absolutely my favorite restaurant still!
Our server was excellent and we enjoyed the experience for my moms birthday lunch. Food was A++ , Drinks were spot on.
This was my fourth time @ The Pod. Each time the food/service gets better! If i had two more hands I would give The Pod 4 thumbs up!!!!
It was great
My 18 year old daughter thought our sushi roll was the best she’s ever had. We both had shrimp pad Thai, prepared to let a variety of flavors come through...excellent! Our server was very attentive. Only reason I can’t give the experience 5 stars is bc the bathrooms are a fright. Feels/looks like an overused airplane bathroom. Redo!
Terrific. Great food. Great service. Spotless. Just a great restaurant
Excellent food a little expensive for casual dining.
I had the shortrib guydon bento for lunch - great value. Everything was good, particularly the miso soup. In fact, the soup was so good, I may go back soon just for the soup! The service was impeccable.
We celebrated our daughter's 17th birthday with 7 of her friends. Everyone enjoyed the whole experience - food, service and ambience was excellent.
Poor service, waited 25 minutes for someone to actually come and see if we even wanted a glads of water when we were seated.
Great time at Pod. Our server Jeffrey was amazing, he made the night that much more special. He was one of the best servers I’ve ever seen.
My wife and I come to Pod for our Anniversary for the past 7 years. We love the place and have talked it up so much. My daughter had been dying to come here for some time. We went this weekend for her birthday dinner. So the food was still great. Service was a little slow. We were there early and the place was not busy at all. Overall, just felt it lost something. The big things were our favorite drinks were taken off the menu. AND the Fluffernutter dessert was removed. That was an iconic dessert and they got rid of it. Seems a little petty, but when things were taken off the menu in the past, they still would make it for you when asked.
It felt like the restaurant has declined since I was last there 2 years ago. We had incredibly slow service and the place was about half- occupied. We never received the drinks we had ordered. The food was fine but not great. Based on our latest experience there I would not recommend it to a friend. There are too many other options out there where the restaurant seems to care that you're there.
Dinner was great. We ended up with a smaller party than reserved. Tried the lobster & duck fried rice for the first time and it was AMAZING. The truffle oil really set the meal off. My sister also tried the cheesesteak boa buns for the first time as well. She loved them. Overall we had a nice chill dinner for my sister’s birthday. She was happy!!
The atmosphere was modern and cozy. I went on a Tuesday night to beat the weekend crowd. Although the plated food was cooked to perfection and very tasty, I was a bit disappointed in the sushi. It was not flavorful. I would recommend this place for the drinks and hot plates!
I’ve had better and over priced
Food was overall great. The only down note was the wagyu special, which picked a cut of beef that was very chewy. Not what I expect from Wagyu. Everything else was excellent. "Cheesecake" dessert and Korean ribs especially noteworthy.
Noise level was quite high, which made it challenging for the seniors in our party.
My sister and I stopped for dinner before a concert, and it was an easy and fabulous experience for people who don’t live nearby. Everything was wonderful, and there was a huge variety of foods - I wish we could’ve tried all of them!
A bit noisy but great food and service! Even the non seafood eaters were extremely happy with their meal.
I've gone to Pod every year or so since it's opened. In short, the place needs some freshening up. Every thing looks worn...the furniture, bathrooms, the back/event area. On the plus side, the food remains fantastic. The sushi dishes we had were melt in your mouth awesome. Funny, the first time I had Chimay blue was at Pod. The beer list has since been very scaled back. It is however, varied and my wife and I each found something interesting and good.
Heading to the Tower theater in Upper Darby P.A. Found this Steven Starr sushi restaurant in Western Philly. Food very good but not spectacular. A little pricy. College crowd and a pleasant experience. We’d go back.
Pod never disappoints. Lovely meal. Not rushed. Took people from Florida and New Zealand. They can’t wait to go back!
Service not great
Great sushi in a modern environment. Was worth the price.
Food was good but not great, it was over priced. Restaurant looks modern but restrooms need update and a deep clean.
Pod is great for a relaxing evening with friends. The vibe is cool & laid-back. Happy hour specials are a great deal. Love the pods with lighting buttons. Servers are friendly & helpful.
It has been several years since we had been to Pod. We took our 9 and 10 year old, and they loved the ambiance and food. We were lucky enough to get a pod, they loved playing with the lights, sadly only about 3 of them actually worked.
The bathrooms desperately need updating, they were gross.
Great family dinner ! Food was delicious and service was great! Yummy desserts too!
great service, mod looking place and fun table because we sat in a true pod and you can change the light colors within the pod if you want to. Very close to Upenn, incredible passion fruit shaved ice desert. All 6 of us liked our meals.
POD was a lovely experience with an exceptional staff.
Great food. Service was ok. Our waiter stopped by to say hello a few times. Lighting a bit of a challenge to see either menu or food.
Horrible service-seated at 8:15 for our 8:15 reservation and didn't have anyone come by our table until I asked around 20 minutes later. Then took another 10 minutes (again after asking) to place our order. Server was very kind and remorseful, but the management could have cared less. The food, however, was quite good. Not good enough, however, to overcome the bad service.
