Asian
Philadelphia restaurant impresario Stephen Starr's retro-modern offering, located in the town's "University City" neighborhood, lets its guests sip sake, beer, and colored cocktails while munching on fresh sushi, dim sum, and Pan-Asian entrees. The hip, contemporary, "starship-like" space was conceptualized by famed Manhattan designer David Rockwell and influenced by the films "Sleeper" and "2001: A Space Odyssey."

All our food was excellent! It was wonderful the hostess held our table while we were stuck in traffic. Our waiter did take away my wine glass before it was empty and before I could stop him, so that was a bummer. But overall we enjoyed ourselves.

Way too salty and overpriced.
The chicken tbh is not really edible. The roll, I would say, is like the 6 bucks sushi you can get from Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods.

Would not recommend. Very disappointing.

We were a party of 7 and went to POD to celebrate my niece’s 17th birthday. We loved the family style dining and the variety of food we ordered. Everything was delicious.

The food at POD is so good. We even told the waitress to give our compliments to the chef. We were truly blown away. An A+ birthday dinner.

Celebrating my wife's 30th birthday party was made very VERY special by the staff at POD! We got to sit in our color-changing pod, our waiter was patient and explained our courses very well, and the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing. I've always enjoyed eating at POD and this trip was the best yet.

Food was good. The server was great. However, when we asked to get a seat by the window the hostess wouldn’t agree to seat us there even though they had 8 open window seats, which aren’t reserved by the way

The table space is very tight, I was on top of the person behind me. The only reason to come here is to sit in the pods, which I requested with my reservation but did not receive. The food is mediocre at best. I ordered two sushi rolls and I found them both bland and the rice a bit on the hard side. The miso soup, however, was delicious. I understand sushi is made to order but three of us were served our food, and the fourth person didn’t receive their meal until we were finished. That’s unacceptable. I was looking forward to eating here, and sitting in a pod I requested, but my expectations were far from met. If you’re looking for amazing sushi I would not recommend this restaurant. The only redeeming factor was the service we received.

Really enjoyed food and glad we discovered the place. We did have to wait for 25 min despite having a reservation (3 people only not a large group). And that was on Sunday which is not their busiest day.
Also the place does look cool but it is actually quite run down and would benefit from a face lift - especially bathrooms- the deem cool lights can’t hide it

Was not my style. If you a hearty meat type of person, this is not the restaurant for you. Their $30 fish comes with no sides, just a piece of fish. My brother got sick from the food. The shrimp skewers was good, but is like $8 for one shrimp. Not worth it.

Pod never disappoints! I hadn’t been back for quite some time and recently had an opportunity to grab lunch with my daughter who was in town for a quick visit. I love that the portion sizes are small, so we ordered an assortment of items to share, including the large bowl of chicken ramen soup. The waiter brought us two smaller bowls so we could easily share - and the soup was delicious! We also shared the pork belly, chicken potstickers, rock shrimp and ribs. As it was a very cold day, we tended towards the warm items on the menu and didn’t get the sushi this time. I love the modern hip atmosphere, and the convenience of the valet parking at the Penn hotel right next store.

Pod has been my go to for at least 15 yrs. the menu has changed A LOT and it can be a little tricky to choose but over all it’s always a good. I had the NY strip, it was dynamic!!! Crab fried rice is a staple and a hit, crab spring rolls for the win.
Not impressed with the cheesesteak bao or the current dessert menu.

My sister and I went to Pod for an early lunch. The restaurant was not busy at this time of day. We were seated right away in one of the two seat window booths. This is the third time eating at Pod for me and a first for my sister. The service was great, on time and present when needed. Our food was lackluster at best. I ordered edamame and shrimp pad Thai. The edamame were fine. You’d really have to work hard to mess them up. The pad Thai was heavy and not very tasty. The shrimp verged on dry. My sister’s dumplings were meh and her cauliflower on skewers charred on two out of the three small florettes. The design of the restaurant is a bit sorry. The light fixture in our little booth was splashed with food. The bathroom stall I used was downright dirty and missing tiles on the floor. I hate to give bad reviews but I hate to feel like I’ve wasted the time, effort and money to get a tasty meal.

There was a group of high school students having a birthday party and we sat near them. They were extremely loud and in people’s space right next to where they were eating away from the parties table taking pictures. They were very loud and distracting. Overall the experience was ok. Don’t think it’s high on my list to go back the food was overall very salty.

The staff are very welcoming, the atmosphere is a cool vibe, the menu however is disappointing. Sushi roll options were limited. Far too many rolls had tempura included inside. I am GF and would rather have fresh/raw items in my rolls. My husband is not GF and he was disappointed. Frankly the variety was limited all around. We ordered several items instead of a main course to get a variety of foods to sample. My husband enjoyed his mushrooms and dumplings well enough. My shrimp was a bit too salty. Well for a unique atmosphere this is a fun place, but for good food....head to your local sushi bar for a better dinner.

The hostess was super nice and so was the manager! Went to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and they made it extra special for us. The table we were at changed colors! Super cool and the food is affordable and very good. We’re from Washington DC and this was our first time at POD and we will definitely be coming back! Also the manager was super nice as well :) strongly recommend the chicken wings and the brownie for dessert!

I don't like leaving reviews that are not positive. There was nothing negative about Pod, but there was nothing that would have me come back. The use of sesame oil and spicy oil in all the food we ordered was too one note and not enjoyable, nor did it let the food shine through. The tables were very uncomfortable and we were bumped multiple times. It was so dark we could not read the menu.
