Po Le Cucina Ratings and Reviews
Rude desultory service by bored waiters who seem to have lost their way somewhere enroute between Saigon and Ambler. Salad dish was ice-cold; right out of the fridge, must have been made early in the morning. Dressing was harshly citrusy. Bronzino was ruined and tasteless; the gnocchi were chewy. Impossibly too many "specials" for this size restaurant for any of them to be fresh.
Nasty food, nasty service. AVOID.
To celebrate the holidays I found Po Le Cucina on Open Table and am glad I did. It is a small seating area but plenty of outstanding food and service. I was there for lunch and the specials seemed limitless; no less than 5 different fresh fish choices including a whole Branzino which was deboned and the best piece of fish I have eaten in a long time. Other colleagues had the the lobster ravioli and proceeded to consume a lot of bread soaking up the sauce. The 5 of us all had different dishes and there was not a single morsel of food left on anyone's plate. The chef makes all his own pastries including the complimentary plate of cookies that are served, which are for sale as well. The service was first class, no "auctioning" off of the dishes, he knew what each person should be served. Looking forward to sharing this gem with my friends and colleagues.
The food was very good although a bit expensive. I would save this for special occasions. We went for my birthday and even put that on the open table reservation form but we had to remind the waiter. Since it is a small place, there were people waiting for their reservation and we felt a bit rushed to leave.
Would you believe foie gras in Springhouse? Not only delicious but beautifully served. My partner had the lobster salad which was equally well presented with nice size lobster. Main courses were varied but both of us chose fish. Both flavor and presentation were outstanding. Don't skip dessert.
Food was interesting and reflected the owner having worked at San Marco for many years. The menu is rather limited and there were basically as many specials as there were entrees on the main menu. Fish dishes other than fish of the day would have been nice on the "permanent" menu rather than just being specials for the evening. The waiter had to be reminded to keep noting the prices of the specials. Tables are just a bit too close together and they are just a bit too small for comfortable dining. With a wine glass, water glass, bread plate and a dinner plate, there is not a square centimeter to spare on the table top. Too much juggling of stuff on the table top to eat comfortably.
We had a phenomenal dinner at Po Le Cucina. The food was outstanding - the best tilapia I've had - simple yet flavorful. My husband had the whole baramundi and my friend the tuna served ahi style. She said it was the tuna was like butter and never had that fresh before. Appetizers were simple and fresh. The family runs the restaurant and the daughter is very charming and a good sense of humor. It is a small place, can be loud, you need reservations on weekends. The menu is extensive. We will be back soon for another great meal.
Wonderful meal in cute surroundings. Very good salads and a great Po Le Trio consisting of tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and red peppers. Many specials offered. Fish dishes were good sized and very tasty. Tuna dish was well prepared but was not enough. Chicken piccata was excellent. Desserts were fabulous and made in house by Po Le, who personally visited all of the tables. Will return in the near future.
This was our first (but not our last) visit to Po Le Cucina, a BYOB restaurant in Spring House, PA. We had reservations for Sunday evening and were seated immediately upon arriving. While we were there, the restaurant was busy, but not overly busy. The hostess was a lovely young woman and our waiter had a long list of specials memorized perfectly. Food was great - every one of us enjoyed our meal. I had the Veal Pizzazole which was wonderful. Three of my dinner mates had a fish/pasta special and another had Seafood Linguini. We all loved our food. Chef made it a point to check in with us which is always a plus.
I took my parents to Po Le to celebrate upcoming birthdays. The menu is extensive and the four of us tried a range of appetizers, entrees, and specials. Everyone raved about the preparation and presentation. Everything was excellent. Would highly recommend reservations; this place is small and clearly popular!
Outstanding service, multi-faceted menu with more specials offered than most restaurants on any given night. Chef greets diners, which is always welcome. BYOB availability moderates total cost. We went for the Osso Buco, which did not disappoint, but the seafood offerings were very tempting and will be at the top of our choices for the next visit.
Fresh and delicious with seasonal specials to tempt even the finest palate. Gnocchi, which is my daughter's favorite, are light and fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth goodness; homemade by Chef himself. The stuffed figs were making my tastbuds sing and the grilled salmon was perfectly seasoned. The wait staff were knowledgeable and attentive. I thought twice about writing this review because I don't want to leak the secret of this little gold mine.
Po Le Cucina was delightful. The food was beautifully prepared with many excellent specials of the evening. Service was friendly and timely. When we return, we need to remember that it is a BYOB restaurant. My husband had lobster bisque to start while I had figs with prosciutto and a balsamic reduction. Both were excellent. For entrees I had a generous filet mignon and my husband had seafood linguini. I took some of my entree home because I wanted creme brûlée. My husband enjoyed a delicious chocolate soufflé. Po Le Cucina provided us with a lovely anniversary dinner. We will return.
It started out OK, but when the shrimp cocktail arrived, smelling like fish, I began to worry.
We sent it back, replacing it with an above average lobster bisque (very nice). The chicken piccata was a bit dry, but OK. The pasta bolognaise was good.
The Philadelphia area has a wonderful array of restaurants. There is a lot of competition. This was just OK. We would not go back.
