Located in the trendy East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, PMF, or Pardon My French, is a contemporary dining experience that updates the classic French bistro experience along with tapas and small plates inspired by the cuisines of the Mediterranean. PMF also has a full bar where its mixologist whips up craft cocktails with house infusions.
Small plates at PMF include eggplant caviar, a slow-braised pork belly served with a carrot mousse and a mushroom succotash and homemade burrata with basil and confit tomatoes. Main courses run the gamut from a classic oxtail slow-braised in red wine sauce or the traditional moules frites with mussels and triple smoked bacon in a wild mushrooms sauce.
One of my favorite spots in Manhattan for either food or drinks!! Has an incredible menu with truly great food, as well as a hip bar with a trendy clientele.
All great dishes, but the bone marrow stood out the most for us.
Thinking my title says it all. From the moment you walk in you know it's going to be great. Loved loved this place and will be back. Brunch is VERY good and very reasonable. I had Benedict Florentine. Instead of HUGE muffins my eggs and spinach were served on smaller muffins. So I was able to enjoy this dish as it was a perfect amount. My friend had the french toast - omg. Amazing. My other friend had the croque madame - rich and DELICIOUS. Just wonderful and the "pitcher" of mimosas was actually really good. Alot of bubbly in there - just perfect overall. Run - don't walk here.
Had dinner here Tuesday night. Hands down the best meal I had among a week of excellent meals in NYC. Where PMF really excels is service. Our waiter was extremely attentive and polite. There are few restaurants in NYC that I will go to more than once because there are so many others to try, but I will definitely be dining here again.
The food was delicious and the patio was very cozy. The croque madame was to die for!!! The only sad part was that the service was suuuuuuper slow!! it was an unlimited drink brunch but they had too much orange juice and our food got there before we could even get a second round of drinks, that part was a bit disappointing but we still had a good time. Maybe they could use some more staff on busy days like brunch time,
The title says it all. This review is for brunch. The food was great but the service was nonexistent. Granted it got really busy but it looked like the waiters had their heads chopped off. Our waiter came and took our order but then disappeared. Had to ask the host for refills on drinks. Asked for more milk from the waiter but he never came back. And when we got the check it was billed at a higher price. I would give this place another try but would come for the small plates/dinner. And if the service is still lacking, I will not come back no matter how good the food is.
excellent service & the backyard garden patio is a gem!
Wonderful, attentive service. Great wine list. Food is fresh and amazing. Very charming location. Would go back in a heartbeat.
For the unlimited brunch. It was worthy.
Just had another great night @ PMF! Excellent ambiance, service & selection. We were thrilled with dinner choices- both duck & fish with salad app were wonderful. Bar and wait staff helped make evening feel special. Merci!
we were in the mood for french, and instead of heading to west village/soho we wanted something closer since we live on the east side. went here on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. food was spot on, classic bistro fare perfectly prepared. we sat at the bar, great vibe. good service in that french sort of way. all good, love that the staff is french, makes for a more authentic experience. we'll definitely go back!
This spot was Casimir. The ambiance has not much changed but the food has been upped a few notches (or more perhaps). Kudos to the chef, Guillermo Barreto, and thanks to the lovely waitstaff.
With lovely back garden, cozy dining rooms & fab bar, PMF more than fills the bill for any food outing. We've enjoyed great brunch, fast friendly bar & the festive outdoor dining too. Loved the new take on French food favorites, especially mussels, salads & of course, desserts. Merci!
Came here for my friend's birthday and we had a great time. The service was outstanding and attentive. The food was great, especially the cheese plate. We only had appetizers this time, but I definitely want to come back to try brunch and the main courses!
Went there last night with four friends, We ordered a bottle of wine and a number of apps to share. Everyone loved the food and had a great time.
Great service/ wonderful drink & food choices for any taste ! No wonder Time Out magazine sent first date couple there! You should go too!
The food was delicious and the bloody marys were perfectly spicy. I highly recommend the croque madame for brunch. The location is perfect and there is an adorable back yard space for outdoor seating.
Innovative bartender and nice choices of wine by the glass began our evening. The best part of the meal was a shared calamari/octopus appetizer: delicious. For main we had mussels (okay: very small) and fries (excellent) and chicken tagine (good). We wanted/tried to sit in the garden but it was too cool, but in warmer weather it should be pleasant. A definite return for us.
Came for Mother's Day brunch. The website doesn't specify that brunch is cash only so my daughter had to go accross the street to an ATM. The back yard seating is very lovely and our food was good. Our server was a little sleepy, inattentive and lacked common sense. He spilled soda on my daughter's place setting, blamed the carbonation and needed to be asked to get her a napkin. There were a few such moments but overall it's very pleasant and pretty.
Another great experience - wonderful brunch specials, lovely service, tasty bar specials too! A lovely spot to celebrate an occasion - or just the joie de vivre of life on East Village. Host Antoine is a pleasure!
This is a fantastic place for brunch. I have never had a bad experience here; the staff is incredibly friendly.
When we arrived, the maitre d' tried to seat us at a cramped little round corner table, saying that they wanted to save the regular two-tops to push together for parties of 4 or 6. I complained - we'd made reservations and the place was fairly empty - and they seated us at another table. After that, everything was very good - excellent service, tasty food. I think our initial complaint made them go out of their way to make sure we were happy, and they completely won us over. Would definitely go back.
Awesome! Waiter spoke French! Ambiance was awesome!!
The food was unseasoned. Confusing, since PMF is across the street from the great spice store 'SOS Chef'. Our unremarkable food took a very long time to arrive. Will not be returning.
A wonderful spot for brunch/ romantic dinner - or any day! Attentive service, good wine list/bar choices & fine, simple bistro fare. Voila - Bon Appetit !
We found this place on OpenTable and were glad we did! Bottomless mimosa brunch for $30 a person isn't bad for the east village and all the food/service was excellent. One thing of note, which I wish we'd known before we got there, is that their brunch is CASH ONLY. We saw it on the menu's after we sat down and once we confirmed with the waiter, my friend had to casually leave to find an ATM so we could pay. Other than that, it was a great experience and we'll be back
This off beat bistro restaurant located in Alphabet Town is clearly a standout. Simply but interestingly prepared cooking with a touch of Moroccan flavors is a great place for a low keyed dinner. I could go back in a minute.
