Located in the trendy East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, PMF, or Pardon My French, is a contemporary dining experience that updates the classic French bistro experience along with tapas and small plates inspired by the cuisines of the Mediterranean. PMF also has a full bar where its mixologist whips up craft cocktails with house infusions.
Small plates at PMF include eggplant caviar, a slow-braised pork belly served with a carrot mousse and a mushroom succotash and homemade burrata with basil and confit tomatoes. Main courses run the gamut from a classic oxtail slow-braised in red wine sauce or the traditional moules frites with mussels and triple smoked bacon in a wild mushrooms sauce.

We came here with high expectations. Love French food, heard great reviews, so we had to check it out. Unfortunately, we went on New Years Eve. Nowhere on their website did they indicate it was a pre fixe menu - $125 for an app, meal, cheese and dessert. Long story short, the food was good but wish we would’ve known about the pre fixe menu, otherwise we probably would not have gone. But the worst part was the service. The waiter and the manager seemed to service every other table besides ours. If we wanted another drink or more water, we had to hunt him down every time. Was very inattentive and our experience was negative because of it.
I loved this place when it was Casimir. The food is about as good; the wine list remains unbelievably reasonable. The quality of the service was ... ok. For example, they brought out some bread after we ordered our entrees, followed ten seconds later by our entrees. Perhaps we should have asked them to wait a bit before firing the order. I definitely did not like how noisy it's become -- mostly because the music (which isn't very good) was very loud and so everyone in the restaurant was speaking even more loudly to compensate.
Service was great, waiters were very attentive. Food was good and good portions for sharing as well. Nice ambiance to hang out, can get a little loud but it doesn’t bother me.
Lovely restaurant. The staff was thoughtful and the food superb!
The space is nice but tight. It was very warm and I requested they turn on the AC. I was sweating through dinner and people at our table agreed it was warm inside. I finally asked if they could open the door to the outdoor area to let air in. They agreed.
The food was good. I had the mussels which was a generous portion. Others at the table had the duck. For starters we had the octopus and escargot. I would say the highlight was the octopus. I’m happy to check the place off my list but I’m not dying to go back.
The staff here are so great! Really lovely experience and had a great dinner !!
This restaurant is a great neighborhood spot with tasty dishes and excellent service. The staff is extremely friendly. We highly recommend the bone marrow, burger, and mussels.
Food was awesome! Had the tuna tartar, scallops and the skirt steak def recommend! Went on a Wednesday for dinner so it wasn’t crowded at all and perfect for a date.
Food and service was great but we only went there because we saw a deal on their site which happened to be seasonal and they never updated. What a bummer!
The food is delicious, and the reason we keep coming back. But the service is spotty - the server was eh - fairly aloof and distracted, had to ask him several times for the same thing, some things were just forgotten and we gave up. We had to ask for bread while other tables who had arrived after us already had it. But the food arrived fairly quickly and was delicious, so that's the most important thing.
Great food..amazing service as always. The octopus was cooked perfectly.
Great place, staff was professional and nice. Would return to eat again.
The waiter forgot about our drink. Bone marrow was under cooked, not really good.
Everything about this restaurant was truly excellent from the service to the food to the ambience. Bravo!
Had a very nice time at PMF. The service was great. The food was delicious. The ambiance was casually romantic if that is a thing. Would definitely be back.
The service at the bar and the dinner table was extremely slow. We weren't greeted at the dinner table at all, one guest of our party had to ask for a server. The service was very slow during the entire dinner. The food was very good but the service really diminished the experience.
I'd been hearing about PMF for a while - what a cute, fun place! We had the duck, which was delicious, and the brussels sprouts, which I love but were too sweet for my companion. They serve food fairly late, which is less and less common these days, so I'm very happy to add them to my list of great neighborhood places.
Really good food! Ordered the steak and sea bass and it was delicious! Was celebrating an anniversary and they provided sparkler to NY partner and it was very cute.
Great Bistro finding East Village. Authentic in every way. Great Jazz band on Thursday night!!!
The restaurant didn't have our reservation when I arrived and were extremely rude about trying to "accommodate us". The waiter was nice but maybe checked in on us once. We also waited an hour and a half just to receive our drinks.
The food and service are excellent.
The wine list is overpriced.
Best place to eat. Must get the bone marrow.
We had a tall dark and handsome server that wasn’t very attentive. I had to ask another server, a new guy, for help and he was great!
Food was fine, not good enough to have me coming back for more. The music was far too loud for conversation.
Definitely a lively atmosphere.
lovely place with very French and tasty meals, amazing Chardonnay wine and great service with friendly and helpful waiters!
Food was great, drinks were great, service was good.
Excellent service, A++ food quality & service
Food was wonderful and Jeremy was a friendly, funny and helpful server. I am looking forward to brunch outside when the weather is warmer.
Love this place! The food is fantastic, and the service is spot on. My only complaint is that the music is played just a bit too loud, making it difficult to have a conversation without shouting across the table.
The bone marrow starter was authentic and tasty. Live music was a nice addition. Recommend!
Amazing food and atmosphere! Must check it out! The bottomless mimosa taste great!
Great food! The truffled mashed potatoes with the roast chicken were incredible!!
Such an extreme disappointment. I made reservations at Pardon My French specifically for no prefix menu or Valentine’s Day theme. No where on their website or on Open Table did it state they do that for Valentine’s Day. I waited around for my reservation and when I arrived was surprised with a prefix menu - $85 a person. Finding this out at 6:30pm on Valentines Day gave me very limited options for an alternative place for dinner.
The server stated “we always do this as a tradition” but why isn’t that stated anywhere? Not on their website? Open Table? I wonder how many other people were disappointed and surprised by this with the same intentions as me for dinner.
It’s such a shame because I’ve heard great things about this place. Hopefully not all dining experiences there are like the one I had.
Food was fantastic. Great location in the East Village. Service was superb!
The restaurant looks very dirty. They didn't even know I had a reservation. They're brunch I heard is very good but the environment not clean. The waiters are very nice
The cocktails & wine are outstanding as is the staff. The appetizers were excellent but by the time our mains showed up the restaurant was full & the dishes were very disappointing. Started great & ended poor.
Food and service is amazing... one of my favorite places in the east village... and all of the staff is very cute
Bloody Mary’s were a bit weak, but otherwise great!
My friends and I enjoyed Pardon My French but had a mediocre experience. The food was good, not great. My friends enjoyed the filet a lot, but I wasn't as crazy about the flounder. The restaurant seemed to have a great ambiance but we were in a so-so table and couldn't enjoy the environment as much. Our waiter was extremely nice, but there was confusion on the bill. He had convinced us to get a second bottle of wine and said because our first selection was out of stock, that he'd give us our second choice for the same price. When we got the check, it was not discounted (which would have been no issue had he not promised a lower price - that was what persuaded us to sit longer and order a second bottle). We brought this to his attention, and he immediately took the check back and rerang the price (again, was not correct). We signed our bills and were walking out of the door to our uber to make it to a party we had plans to attend, then the waiter said he completely got our check wrong and we had to wait for him to get the correct amount. He said it was a $5 difference and was lower. Our friends ran to the uber while my other friend and I sat behind to sign all the checks. When we got them, they were about $40 more expensive. Again, this would have been no issue, but it was extremely time consuming and we were misinformed throughout the entire experience. Just confusing. Did like the food, the bar, and ambiance and would recommend, but efficiency could definitely be worked on.
