Great food and service. Very pleased and would definitely eat there again.
Delicious appetizers and entrees. Food options for everyone. My vegetarian daughter loved the beet purée pierogis.
Have been disappointed by so many restaurants in the Tahoe area. There's only a few consistently great places and Plumpjack is one of them. Haven't been here in awhile and we wanted someplace different for a birthday celebration. It was a wonderful choice!!!
Great menu--we all ordered something different and we were each very pleased. Great service -- we were not rushed in any way, we were allowed to enjoy the company of our friends without constant interruptions, the pace of the dinner was perfect (thank you Heather).
Predicting this is my new favorite restaurant and that we will be back next week :-)
The service here is very polished and the food is sophisticated. Actually, the service was about the best I have had on the west coast.
However, the restaurant is very loud, and it seems to be understaffed. It took over an hour for to get our entrees.
We went to PlumpJack for my cousin's 7th birthday. They did everything to make her feel so special on that day. Even thought they have a limited selection of menu but every is tasty. The dinning room and bar are seperate so you will actually get a more private experience.
Our group of four all ordered different entrees and each of us were very pleased. Best food we had at Squaw!
We have been dining here for years when we stay at the inn, but this year the chef is really killing it. From the homemade bread and poke cones appetizer to the beggar's purse and the enormous pork chops, everything was stellar. No regrets for ordering the amazing smores desert either. Nicely paced service and great wines by the glass.
Lot's of families with young children, some not so well behaved, but that is not the fault of Plumpjack. My advise to book a table later in the evening to avoid the kid crush.
Food at the more casual bar is much more approachable in terms of price and by far the best in the village.
Glad they postponed tearing down the restaurant till 2019 or later
Always an event evening Good always changes but is always good. Go back every time we’re here
The service was outstanding with beautiful ambiance and food that is 5 star quality with impeccable plating. Worth every penny and then some.
Consistently very good. Excellent wine list, we had a Dead Arm Shiraz. Paired well with the lamb shank. The server was a great guy- I’ve had him before.
friendly attentive service with great recommendations made this a fabulous meal. Food was done perfectly. We had a wonderful evening
Amazing dinner celebrating my husband and son Birthday! Bison Tomahawk was delicious
Many unique options, explained nicely by our waiter; cozy atmosphere and fun to try new things
We were there for our 28th wedding anniversary and the wait staff made us feel pampered and special by bringing some champagne and chocolates as a surprise to the table. The desserts were beautiful.
Another nice dinner at PJs. Always a special experience.
Super expensive, portions are small, food sounds much better while reading the menu but tastes just average once you start eating it. Place is super loud and cramped. You will most likely leave hungry with a headache all after spending bunch of money. I recommend getting a reservation at Graham’s down the road - same prices but food is outstanding and portion sizes are like three times bigger than at this place.
The fine dinning here is just okay. The prices are high even for Tahoe standards. The USDA Choice 16oz Ribeye cost $65. The quality of the meat is poor and was not prepared well. They make a good sauce that mask the quality of the steak. It’s the same sauce they use for the lamb. It’s a great place to avoid the crowds in the bar area and with great service but the limited menu and high cost is simply not upholding the PlumpJack Brand.
The Turkey was dry and cardboard like. Disappointing meal.
Prime rib was incredibly fatty and gross and overpriced.
Nice but not terribly friendly. The food was good but nothing interesting or unique.
This place is must when visiting North Lake Tahoe. Not only is the food exquisite but the portions are very generous. If you dine in the bar, or the dining room, it can get loud on busy peak weekends but I don't mind it. I think it adds to the jovial ambiance.
Always delightful to dine at PlumpJack. The menu had diverse options. Most of the items were delicious; the fish had issues as it was served underdone. Nevertheless, we always make a point to dine at PJ when we’re at Squaw.
They are always the best
We love dining at Plumpjack when we are in Squaw for the holidays but last Christmas Eve food fell short. I feel like the octopus was dry and a touch of EVOO would have been a difference. Also, we asked that the Prime Rib not be split (although my husband and son will share it) for good presentation but it came split in 2 plates.
We thought will have dinner before the whole remodel takes place early next year.
The food was too rich. Service was disappointing.
Small variery of food choises but a huge list of wines. Everything was delisios
I dine out frequently and I have to say that Plumpjack really impressed me. The cocktails were amazing, the food was even better. Great ambiance and great service, I couldn’t have improved any of it, just perfect
A really relaxed and wonderful dining experience. Onion soup with lavender creme fraiche is a must try!
We haven't been there for several years so was very surprised at how good the food was
Great taste reasonably priced
The servers were all attentive. Ours was wonderful about changing the entrée to provide me with a gf option. Someone in the kitchen was also most helpful splitting items we wanted to share. The salmon was delectable and the grilled peach with something lemony was absolutely scrumptious!!
Limited menu but what they have is top notch! The salmon tartar on avocado toast appetizer was to die for and their burger with Pork Belly....well what else can I say?!
Disappointing. PlumpJack has franchised out it's brand. Our table was not ready at the agreed upon time, our meal was late and overcooked, and the noise level was unpleasant.
I do not recommend this cafe. Skip it and had over to Fat Cat Bar & Grill for a better experience.
Went for your anniversary. We hadn't been to Plumpjack in years. It is still wonderful. Portions are reasonable. Selection is good. Had the seafood cones to start and salmon as my main course. Husband has the market salad and carne asada steak. We both loved our meals. Wine was delicious and creme brulee for dessert. Fun wedding party outside provided enjoyable people watching as well.
Richard was our server and took very good care of us and was very professional and attentive. Food portions were large! Food was very good! Truffle fries!!!
Our 2nd time back over a second visit to the Lake! We love it each and everytime! Consistently delicious and excellent serve staff:) We are anxiously awaiting to see what the new renovations will be!
Plumpjack is Where it's At!!!
We arrived for our dinner to find a table of 9 already seated and could tell it was going to get loud. Since the dining area is small there was no escaping this group. The noise level continued to escalate as us other patrons had to raise our voices to be heard. So bad that I asked to speak to manager on our exit to complain that this restaurant is not designed for groups that size.
Service was great and spot on.
On the food - my dining partner got the lamb shank which I thought was weirdly sweet and my halibut special was topped with hot peppers that overtook the plate. Not my favorite visit but may try again after confirming no large groups to be seated. Hopefully management will reconsider allowing groups this large - I would say 6 people is reasonable or sit them outside.
Could not eat the simple chicken dish. It had such a bad taste. The rest of our order was bland. Very noisy restaurant. Long wait for courses.
Definently would not go back .
We were excited about revisiting Plumpjack's as it had been almost 10 years since our last visit. Unfortunately, it was beyond disappointing. We arrived at 6:40 for a 7:00 reservation. The hostess informed us that the tables would not be ready before 7, so she steered us to the bar. We waiting 15 minutes for our drink orders to arrive; "only one bartender mixing tonight" we were informed. The waitress was going to transfer our bar bill to our dinner bill. When we checked back the the hostess, she told me no, I had to settle the bar bill first. But the waitress walked up right at that time and informed her absolutely we could move the bill to the dining room. She then steered us to a table that was open when we first showed up.
The cold carrot soup appetizer arrived and the waitress couldn't get it out of the pitcher and into the bowl. She spanked the bottom of the container like getting ketchup out of a bottle. when it sprayed around the bowl and on the table and my cutlery, she seemed ok with that and started to leave. I lifted up the bowl and handed it to her, suggesting the kitchen start over. After the appetizers, the entry didn't arrive for 45 minutes. The hostess even brought us the dessert menu before the entree arrived! My wife's pasta was cold and rigid pre-al dente, so it went back with a cancellation order. To his credit the manage recognized how bad it all was without our complaining to him. He deducted $106 from the bill for the five of us. We then went to Dairy Queen to salvage our night out with a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate, served on time and appropriately cold.
We were stunned by how poorly executed the how experience was, falling short on so many levels, by so many (or likely few) people.
Very noisy due to hard surfaces, interfering with conversation.
