My husband and I were looking for a place to enjoy a nice dinner to celebrate our last night together on our honeymoon. PlumpJack Cafe has really out done themselves. We made reservations, which I recommend doing to ensure you will be seated without waiting! We were greeted with a celebratory glass of champagne! The hostess and servers were very attentive and offered excellent recommendations. I ordered the Toasted Farro Bowl and my husband ordered the Poke Bowl. We both highly recommend our dishes. We drank the argyle brut which was delicious as well!
Had a wonderful time🍷👍
Great experience, wonderful meal as always despite Covid challenges.
Service and food were excellent as usual. We dined on the patio because the main dining room was closed due to Covid-19. We dined at the cafe twice this trip because of the service and food. The menu was limited but well thought out. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The manager of the resort, Steve Lamb went through the patio conversing with the guest, serving food, and providing excellent wine service. In fact, we did not know Steve was the GM until our conversation with him during our last lunch. The Plumpjack staff provided excellent food and service during difficult times for restaurants. During our conversation with the staff, many of them have been with this resort for a long time...most likely because of Steve Lamb.
always special....a special treat during COVID, when they have tables outdoors on a lovely patio, with plenty of distance...
food is wonderful as always, relying on the cafe menu...
service is excellent
What a treat. Great food, wonderful setting, gracious staff.
This was the third time I've eaten a Plumb Jack. The Burrito Bowl is my favorite and totally crave-able. I will definitely eat there again.
Great food! The burger is one of the best we have had.
The food, cocktails and service were fabulous! We were given assistance in choosing a wine, and were very pleased with the choice. All in all, a wonderful evening. We look forward to returning!
Wonderful dining experience. Very covid-conscious and we felt very safe. Beautiful outdoor space, great service, very good food. Only about 10 or 15 tables, so very intimate and away from all the crowds -- exactly what we were looking for. Due to covid they are serving a limited (bar) menu, but it is lovely. If you are concerned about covid and crowds, but looking for a nice evening out, this is it. Highly recommend!
Monkfish and lamb shank were outstandi
Food was excellent and service was quite good, although a bit slow considering that half the restaurant was empty likely due to the coronavirus outbreak worldwide. Also very conveniently located in the village.
Wonderful food, attentive service made for a lovely date night.
PlumpJack Cafe is really nice restaurant! We try to go here every time we go to Squaw Valley.
This time out favorites were the Corinsh Hen and the Braised Lamb Shank.
Went to Lake Tahoe in February 2020 before the Covid-19 lockdown. Very busy restaurant. Lots of people waiting. The service was organized, attentive, almost mechanical because it was so effective in handling a full house. Beautiful restaurant.
The food was a hit and miss. Maybe the locals know what to order best, or we were too picky. But overall, it was a fine dining experience. Great spot if you stay at the hotel, or after a ski exercise and walking around the stores. A bit on the pricier side.
Food was not exceptional. My husband had the sirloin steak and it was overdone. My son has the chicken and the veggies were bitter. My daughter had the monk fish and it was undercooked. I had the Cioppino soup and it was ok. Seafood cones, Cesar Salad and the creme brulee were delicious to be fair! Not sure if the Chef was sick on the day we were at PlumpJack, but the food was very average for the price they charged.
This was our third year staying at Plump Jack. We thoroughly enjoy everything about our stay. See you in a year!
Food was great. Service was great
Food was amazing but noise level was very tough close to bar and would have been better if farther away.
Nice experience, impeccable service, delish food. Loud though.
Delicious meal in elegant room. Best apres ski dinner in Tahoe.
The restaurant was mostly empty. The people next to us were inappropriate. They were here long before us as they were on the dinner portion when we arrived but they were still there when we left. The man got up twice to sit next to the woman and they were kissing at the table next to us. No fault of the plumpjack but it left a sour taste for us.
Also the waiter mentioned something about a salad, but we didn’t get one so that was strange.
Salad leaves were brown. We requested the ($55) steak be medium. Not sure how they managed it, but 3/4 was well done and 1/4 was medium rare. Very disappointing. Won’t be back.
Delish and service was great.
Main entrees on the menu didn’t have one single vegetarian option, which is kind of crazy. Whole page of meat, duck, turkey, lamb, one fish (didn’t taste that good), zero vegetarian options. So if you are a vegetarian and want to eat here, you might need to order bunch of same salad (salads are tiny size) or bunch of soups.
Service was great and attentive.
Hostess at front was highlight of this experience - very friendly and fun.
Desserts were not good, do not eat dessert here - you will be disappointed.
Sadly, the very pricey food is not worth waiting an hour for for it to be very overcooked. However, the service was very attentive and apologetic for the kitchens mishap. We were not the only table to experience bad and slow food.
Starters were great and entrées decent. Service was however so slow that we ended up loosing our appetite.
Excellent service by Jason
One of our favorite restaurants in the Lake Tahoe area. We look forward to dining there and the wine list is amazing.
Excellent food and wine! Great service! Definitely recommend.
Excellent service and even better food. Outstanding!
The ops and scallops were cooked to perfection. Order the fish. This chef knows what to do with it
Good food and good service
Arrived for early 6:30 pm seating and placed in very poor table against the wall despite many empty tables closer to window with more ambience. Asked to be moved but still placed at one of worst tables near the door. When we left around 8 pm, still PLENTY of empty tables with much better location. Indicated when made reservation a couple of weeks in advance that this was a birthday dinner. There was no way this dining room was fully booked for that evening so why not place guests who show up at better location? Food was good but expensive so not a place going to drop in for casual dining.
This was our first time enjoying a meal at Plump Jack, despite knowing its knowing of its reputation in the Valley for years.
The menu is rather small but has enough variety that there’s “something for everyone”
Our starter salads were beautifully prepared and were interesting variations on a “Wedge” and “Farmers Market” salads.
I enjoyed the Sonoma Red Chicken, which was delectably prepared with a perfect sauce and sitting atop grilled vegetables and a red potato/artichoke mixture. My husband was very pleased with the Seared Diver Scallops.
Caesar salad was dreadful. Roast chicken was delicious. Service was fair
Attentive service, inventive cocktails and great food.
Wonderful night out for six people. Three of us had a wonderful meal (corn/jalapeño soup, wedge salad, bison, scallops) but three, who ordered the fish (Ono), not such a great meal. The main courses arrived with the other meals 55 minutes after we finished our appetizers. The main chef was “on the line” but, unfortunately, the fish was incredibly dry so we all sent it back.
We have historically enjoyed wonderful meals here but not this time; however, I want to applaud Heather who waited on our group. She was attentive, sympathetic, and an advocate for us. She understood the challenges and was gracious when we sent the fish back. While waiting for the main courses she poured an additional glass of wine and did her best to keep us sated with wine and bread. Also, a significant adjustment was made to the bill.
So, we will try it one more time in the hopes that this was an off night. But only one more shot because there are simply too many other wonderful options in the Lake Tahoe area.
