Plumeria Beach House
Due to the virus the restaurant was not crowded at all which was to our advantage. The food was excellent as always as the service and the feeling of being like at home with the ohana .
We are not new at the Plumeria since our visit goes to place it at more than fifty times already. One of our favorite places to lunch or dinner.
great ambience, good food, good service, reco to all
Always enjoy their ambiance, were a little disappointed in limited menu offering the night we went. We were not aware that they were limiting most guests to a buffet.
Outstanding service and the food and locale were top notch.
The restaurant no longer offers complimentary bread nor dessert for a person's birthday or special occasion.
The salmon bowl had a ton of flavor!! The street tacos were fun because you used your hands to assemble them. Ask for an extra side of pico/salsa to eat your blue corn tortilla chips with. The turkey club can be shared between two people because of the huge about of chips it can be served with. Last but not least, the mai tai cocktail looks small but it is strong and mighty.
It was a beautiful day with picture perfect weather, sitting outside on the 'lanai' by the lawn for lunch. Blue skies and mild trade winds made for a wonderful setting. The food was delicious and service top notch!
Such a wonderful place to dine anytime but the seafood buffet is just amazing, never disappoints. Will always be back to dine here.
This was my third timing dining at Plumeria. The first two times were lovely! (I should have filed those strong positive LUNCHTIME reviews, but I did not. I will follow up in the future.) This was a dinner visit. It was loud, crowded, expensive, and generally disappointing. The food was very good (as usual), but the service was quite poor, probably because there were several large parties and the restaurant was understaffed. I certainly will return; my other visits were lovely. Maybe a better lunch place than a dinner location?
We went on Thursday for the kaamina dinner. It was great. My husband had the short ribs and I had the Hong Kong style fish. Both were delicious. The salad and dessert bars also had a good selection. We will definitely go back !
Enjoyed the curry buffet. The salads and desserts were great. The service was also outstanding.
Everything was exceptional from food to service. Only the weather was sub-par
We were seated 5:45pm next to bar section and it was hard to carry conversation due to excessive noise level.
Food was good but the cost of a glass of wine was ridiculously expensive.
Very good choice!!
The food variety and choices were great and they tasted good, too! Nice mix of local dishes vs Japanese dishes vs others! The downside was that they didn't refill the hot bread pudding so a few of us had sad faces. However, after I asked if they had any more in the back, I was given a healthy piece to enjoy. Yum with the sauce!
We had a good waiter who was very accommodating to our needs by switching my water glass with a coffee mug so my arthritic hands could hold it more easily. :)
Our server was somewhat rushed and not terribly attentive. We had to ask for appetizer plates for the bread and he did not acknowledge that we were celebrating our daughter's birthday, though it was indicated on the reservation.
We got there for the first seating at 5:30pm. As soon as we went to the buffet, the flies started attacking the sushi and the sashimi. None of the workers did anything about it. In the past they had put netting over the food, but someone is obviously getting lazy and did nothing. So aside from trying to get some food that in the hopes were not touched by the flies, the food quality is the same; ok and nothing spectacular. Their prime rib is ok and not really that great and the king crab was ok and not that great. It was tasteless to say the least. Perhaps the tasty dish was the pork belly with the buns and the hot sin sauce. That was good.
Amaging. The buffet is great and what's more, the atmosphere is the best. We have beautiful ocean view from the table outside but it will be sometimes cold in this windy season. I think the best table is on the front row inside. I'm sure to visit weekend seafood buffet again when visiting the hotel.
My husband and I went for an intimate brunch after our wedding Ceremony. We were really
Looking forward to a great meal with a great view. The view was nice but the bento specials were not great. Sashimi was fishy, steak was tough and rice was overcooked. Service was incredibly slow but the server was nice and brought everything we asked for.
Easy access to lovely ocean front dining. The menu is not extensive but the dishes are carefully prepared. The wait help is very friendly, but not overly attentive.
The night we went the only option was a buffet. As a vegetarian there were very few options for me, so the waiter offered to make me a pasta dish. It was quite good, but since the buffet was $95 a person, it was just ridiculously overpriced.
Disappointing to say the least. Chalk it up to don’t ever go back to a place you’ve been a long time ago. We were here 40 years ago on our honeymoon and stayed at the Kahala. It was a Hilton back then. The seafood buffet was amazing. Anything and everything you could imagine. Not anymore. Not even for Valentines Day weekend. Without going into specifics, let’s just say it was lacking in everything. Very disappointing and certainly not worth the money. Wouldn’t be worth the money if it was a quarter of the price. The Ahi was the best thing on the buffet. And in Hawaii, Ahi is everywhere!
We had the Valentines Day buffet. Beach house is down stairs in the Kahala hotel. The staff were great.
We sat at the bar while we waited for our table. Don’t. Use the bar upstairs. Their drinks are way better. The drinks downstairs were overpriced. Which, I can forgive. It is a hotel. But, the drinks were watered down. Unforgivable.
The valentine’s buffet was great. King crab legs. The sashimi was fresh and nicely cut. The seared scallops were done perfectly. Great assortment of deserts. I’d do it again.
Came on Valentine’s Day. Service and atmosphere was great. However, food selection and taste did not match price/cost for dinner.
One of the best I’ve places I have dined.
The out of town guest could not compare to anything in LA. Look forward to returning next time.
Service was top of the line and the ambiance is very prestige especially with the ocean being so close and the sunset making it romantic. It was a friends birthday celebration and her first time there. She was so blown away with the service. Chad and Julie the manager was so amazing and very hospitable to our needs. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we are coming back very soon.
We often attend the Sunday breakfast buffet ... I see you’ve made some great changes
Could you add some gluten free specialty items ??
We usually go to Hokus when we are on the island. Food was good, but not excellent for the price.
It was cold outside but no tables were available inside.
Service was great but next time we will just go to Hokus.
Pretty disappointed. We thought the brunch buffet was until 2:00. That was unclear when booking. Our server seemed like a zombie- super unfriendly, seemed annoyed, no energy. Ordered the salad- it had 1 shrimp and a decent size pork belly.. but really- 1 shrimp?? So weird! The only good part was the view!
Like the settings, but too many flies....
It is my favorite place.
I just want to acknowledge Cliff, who I always request to tend to us. He’s always taken good care of my family and friends. He deserves a raise!
I was pretty disappointed with my overall experience there considering we’ve had brunch at the Plumeria many times and have had excellent food along with excellent (Kahala) service. This time around the waiter came around just a mere 2 times the entire dinner to check if we needed drinks. We then sat there for awhile before I had to get up to FIND someone to our bill. Pretty subpar service for a beautiful restaurant and a beautiful hotel.
Best seafood buffet on the island and outstanding service
I ordered Chinese chicken salad. When dish was brought to table, there was no chicken on salad. We pointed out to her that there was no chicken. She looked at plate and just said “oh, they forgot to put chicken on salad”. No apologies. Gross oversight, this is main item on dish. Waitress should have checked order before bringing it out. My other guest ordered a poke bowl, his dish came out 10 mins before the other dishes. My other guest ordered a wrap and her dish came out 10 few minutes after poke dish.
Waitress have coordinated getting all the dishes out at same time so we can start our meal together. At a restaurant like the kahala, this is a normal expectation. It was a disappointing experience.
Wednesday is the lunchtime curry buffet which includes a salad bar offering various greens, somen salad, tofu and similar cold items and cut fruit and a dessert bar with petit fours, two brownie-type cookies, a sesame seed filled dumpling, and several other sweets which I cannot remember. Four curries were on offer -- a Japanese curry with pork, an Indian curry with beef!, a Thai seafood curry and another type that I forgot along with various types of rice ranging from saffron to sticky white rice. In addition, there was an excellent ham jook and Singapore style noodles. Definitely a be-back!
I thought I had booked a brunch buffet at noon at the Plumeria Beach House restaurant at the Kahala Hotel, but apparently they finish their Sunday Brunch at noon on Sunday. My friend and I were very disappointed. It's such a great view that we decided to stay and have food off the menu. We started with their bruschetta, which was very fresh and yummy. I could've eaten that all day. Then we had our entrees. My friend had the street tacos and that looked good. She said so with her mouth full of taco. I had the loco moco, that was highly recommended by the waitress. I'm sorry to say, it was a disappointment. The short rib was 50% fat. I had to scrape around the fat to find the meat. The rice was a little tough and the poached egg that was deep fried in panko was heavily breaded. The service was amazing and friendly and again, the view was amazing. I would go back, but order something else, maybe the street tacos.
