Delicious food, fancy setting, attentive service, inflexible rules (must order all courses at once), surprisingly early crowd, they were closing up by 10:15. All and all a spectacular experience and yummy meal.
Wonderful - had three course tasting menu. Venison was heavenly. Great service and a super atmosphere in which you could actually carry on a normal conversation. Quite pricey but well worth it!
Service was great restaurant is beautiful food was good but not fantastic choices are limited and prices are high
Superb gourmet food Restaurant that deserve the Michelin rating. Amazing dishes, with unique tastes and presentation. Best in DC. Worth to try it out.
Absolutely wonderful experience! Cannot wait to visit
We arrived at 6:30 per our reservation, and were warmly greeted by the hostess and were shown to our secluded table.
The we waited there for 10 minutes before anyone arrived to ask about our drink choices. Once the drinks were settled, and our orders were taken the bread service started, and the first 2-3 courses came in rapid succession, but then things came to a halt. We were all but forgotten by the wait staff, our 3rd course stayed on the table so long after we had finished that the hostess who had greeted us outside saw just how long we had been sitting there, that she came and cleared the table, the waiter was no where to be found.
The food was interesting, but not mind blowing, and I am still unsure why they have a michelin star.
Our second time going and definitely not our last.
We had an outstanding meal with the wine pairing. Our waiter(s) were informative, the sommalier was also very enthusiastic. My only complaint-if I have one is that normally in a restuarant of this caliber, when a guest leaves the table, the napkins is normally folded and returned to the table. On our visit, this happened once but not two other times. Also, for the fourth wine pairing, the wine glasses for the prior wine pairing were not removed although they were empty. We would definitely return again to Plume for our next celebratory dinner.
Excellent food, and the attention to every detail is beyonds words. Without a doubt - one of my favorites!
We had a lovely dinner outing on a Friday evening. The service was stellar and we enjoyed the food as well. Great to do once a year! 😊
The Bison Loin was superb. My wife loved her Veal Chop. The American Wagyu Shabu Shabu was fascinating with the incredible "infusion" of steak tartare. My wife loved the Foix Gras.
The wine was superb; especially the great California Cabernet that Betsy had with her veal chop. I enjoyed a superb Italian Nebiollo with my bison loin.
As usual, the desserts were incredible, I enjoyed the Marzipan immensely.
Thanks for a great evening!
Fantastic meal that lives up the its Michelin star. Every aspect of the dining experience was thought of, to even ridiculously consider having a little stool to sit my wife's purse on. The staff was great, the food was incredible, and the environment was perfect whether you are coming for date night or for a great evening with a group of friends, they have a table to accommodate. Will definitely be back.
This place is a gem. Excellent formal service worthy of its Michelin star rating. Wine list is quite good - one of the best in the city. Wine prices are high, but not unexpectedly so given the setting and there were some well-priced safe harbors on the menu. I thought the food pricing was quite fair for a coursed tasting menu. Finally the food was very good. The space is lovely and quiet. Perfect for a romantic dinner or a business lunch. If you want a traditional and elegant Michelin-starred experience, Plume delivers.
The food and service were outstanding. My husband I enjoyed tremendously and will return for another dining experience.
Man...we fine dine once a year and this is the only one we won’t spend that kind of money again for. Seems like a washed up high end restaurant clinging to the Michelin spotlight. I don’t know what they had to eat to give them that star but we definitely didn’t order it. Chairs are old and beat up, food had some highlights but not star worthy, and the service lacked (maybe because we were a later table).
Anyway...no surprise it was the only star open on a Friday night after V-day. We can’t be the first to notice.
We eat here about once a year. The meal is always superb and the service impeccable, as in from a bygone era. Dining here is simply in another league versus so many other of the “Top 100” restaurants.
The food was outstanding. The ambiance was lovely for a date night or dinner party.
We were not impressed with the drink service. It took 30 minutes for the serve to get our cocktail orders... then, they arrived with our first course.
None of us got to enjoy wine with our first courses because the cocktails were just brought out at that time.
The service was outstanding, and the food was very good. But for the price (400$ for two people, including drinks, tax, and tip), it wasn't memorable enough.
5 star service, food and wine. WOW! We enjoyed a spectacular meal at this spectacular place.
I’ve been traveling and I can say the food is excellent quality and flavor!
Plume was a great experience, great for celebrating our engagement!
Just an outstanding experience, our first at The Plume, but not our last.
Very special place for a very special evening!! Highly recommend
The food was really wonderful. Our waiter was terrific. We asked for wine recommendations and were very happy with what was selected. We go to Inn at Little Washington for our anniversary once a year but find this to be just as great and so much more convenient. I recommend this restaurant highly. My compliments to the chef!
Extremely overpriced. Food was okay but definitely not worth the price we paid. Drinks and a ginger ale were ridiculously expensive.
All good priced were outrageous. So many other restaurants in DC to choose from that are excellent but not ridiculously priced
excellent place for special events...very elegant... Staff were very attentive..Food was fantastic, wine list contains very rare wines ...
Overal positive experience. The ambiance is amazing! The lobster was ok but it kinda seemed like it had been already prepared and then re-heated as it wasnt even very hot. Our waiter was excellent but the courses came out too quickly. This is not the type of meal you want to finish in an hour. Also there were so many wait staff it felt a little to hectic.
Very nice dining experience
Great!! Was lots of fun
I had to cancel this reservation because of flight delays - did not arrive until midnight. The staff were very gracious and understanding about the cancellation. I was only in DC until Jan 21st and they were not able to change my reservation to the next day.
Just OUTSTANDING! Celebrating my wife's Birthday, and she was soooo pleased! Piano Bar after dinner was terrific, too. Excellent cuisine, warm, inviting and very classy ambiance, coupled with a very hgh level of Service and attention to detail. Our new favorite place in DC!
An absolute pleasure to spend time with family in this establishment. Great food, service, and attentiveness are all the hallmarks of a great restaurant. Plume exceeds all expectations, especially catering to food allergies. Thank you very much. The Queen family
Vastly overpriced holiday menu. Most courses seemed composed of pre-cooked items kept warm in an oven, consequently slightly dried out and flavorless. The wine pairings were mediocre and also overpriced, indeed Moresco, averaging $35 per glass; a Gevery -Chambertin was madeiraized and should never have been served. Pleasant waiter, unpleasant sommelier. Tables too close together for much privacy . Why Michelin gave this a star? I suppose because the menu is somewhat innovative—in theory, even if not well executed, and the chairs are Louis XV. At nearly $1000 for two people this meal was most disappointing.
We celebrated our anniversary here. We are well traveled foodies. It is rare for us to enjoy every course of a meal. We ordered different items, and each one was 5 stars. If I cold give more than 5 stars I would. Did i mention the service? Also outstanding. We’ll be back for sure. Try the lobster and the foie gras. Blueberry lemon desert is wonderful.
Wonderful, I always enjoy fine dining at Plume's
Dined with family for Christmas with the Special
Menu offered. It was tremendous. Start to finish, clearly we made the right choice to enjoy our holiday meal with the team at Plume.
Service, we were seated in the wine room, was top shelf. Professional, attentive and effortless. Farkoue, may not be correct, was a true gentleman and a sure hand of his craft. He was a joy to be at his table.
The Sommelier was likewise a gentleman, engaged with our selections and also a genuine professional.
A must stop for a fine dining experience, Holiday or not. We will be back for the. Prix Fie menu.
A first Christmas Dinner:
Me and my sister dined at the Plume during Christmas 2018. We were greeted by a warm welcome by valet. The ambience once you walk inside is lux. We were shown to our table by the hostess. The bar was impeccable and decorated straight out of an upscale magazine. The dining area was intimate. There were multiple servers who assisted our table throughout the dinner service. For an appetizer, I ordered Christmas ham with potato salad (both items were a little dry) for an appetizer. Overall, I was unimpressed by the appetizer as I left most of it on the plate. My sister had a lobster bisque for her appetizer. She had to send it back because the soup was cold. We both ordered the prime steak with veggies, kale, and a sweet potato slice that looked like pie but had no taste. The steak was delicious. The deserts were ok. I had a chocolate yule (a whipped mousse) and my sister had a pear cheesecake (delectable). We also ordered a bottle of champagne. The total bill came to $356 excluding the gratuity. We each tipped $20. We also had to pay an extra $15 for valet parking (which should have been comped considering the meal was anything less than perfect). Overall, the experience was ok. The buildup to the dinner was almost better than the actual meal.
Washington DC fine dining at its best, with all the pomp and circumstance of a Presidential inauguration. The meal, table service matched the exactitude of the period decor. Everyone responsible should be proud of their contribution to this effort. I dined there on Christmas Eve, which could have been a cliche, but each course reminded me of how talent and commitment can elevate performance. Bravo!
Wonderful Christmas Eve dining.
Christmas Eve - prefixed menu, mostly fine. The fish & beef courses were very good. The duck was was served cold & was not crispy as described by our waiter, so that disappointed. The desserts were middling. While the wait staff and sommelier were attentive & helpful, the waiter was a low talker & unclear. Our waiter’s overall attitude was that of someone doing you a favor. When our waiter mistakenly got one of our party’s order wrong, he was initially defensive rather than solution oriented. Ultimately, we found Plume underwhelming & overrated on this night.
