Having walked past this part of Kings Cross so many times, I was pleasantly surprised when I went there for brunch this morning. The space is beautiful. The food was lovely, if a little pricey for the portion size. I mentioned it was my mums birthday when booking and they brought out a signed card from the staff and some chocolate ganache on a plate with a birthday message. It was a really nice touch and made her feel very special. Overall, a nice experience.
Great restaurant, really nice décor in the restaurant and surrounding areas, comfortable seating, excellent service, our guests thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
Only OK for us. The service was a bit slap dash and the food, whilst competent, was not very exciting.
Slight allergic reaction to the cod, but otherwise a great experience!
Uninspiring food. Decor and ambiance good. Why do you need 50 characters?
Just love the ambience of this place.
Lovely atmosphere though a bit noisy when full. Food was excellent as was wine selection. Friendly & good service. Was not rushed out! I’d go again!
Unfortunately service was very slow, we waited a long time for a drink order when we were seated. The food was excellent, however service really let it down. The staff were stood around talking to themselves and we had to wave to get any sort of attention for ordering food, ordering drinks and the bill. We ordered a glass of wine to be brought during the main and had to ask twice for it, to which it finally arrived when the main was nearly finished.
Amazing service good quality wine and great food. Really pleasant atmosphere would definitely recommend it to someone who wants to go somewhere special
Very lovely roast. Delicious. We ate at 2.30pm. I wouldn't have wanted breakfast at that time, quite strange having just two roasts (beef and pork) our daughter only eats chicken so had a veg breakfast, although did say it was lovely. For a winter menu, I think a few more seasonal options would have bee good.
Very enjoyable Sunday lunch. Gravy plentiful. Excellent service
Fair price for a high end restaurant in this location. Service was good. My sunday roast (porc belly) probably was the best i’ve had in a long time!
Everything was great except the food. We ordered the gnocchi and it had a pretty bad texture
Very slow service, we stood at the reception desk for about 10 mins, walked into the bar no one there. Can't blame them as it was new years day I'm sure they had sore heads but we couldn't get services for the life of us. We wanted water after our food came but no one even looked as us, we tried to flag people down but no one saw. We ended up pouring our water bottle we already had into our table glasses! We were one of three or four tables as well.. thought they would have been more attentive. I'm sure this was a one off though!
The eggy bread was lovely! Such good value for money, the latte was one of the best I've had!
Will dine again & will recommend to friends x
Beautiful place, unfortunately very limited veggie / vegan options, the food was very oily and a starter mentioned on the website didn't seem to exist in real life, which was a shame as we were excited to have it. Service was a bit weird, we seemed to be waited on by about 5 waitresses throughout the evening who kept asking us the same questions in succession, which was quite jarring to our conversation
After the starters our food seriously went downhill. Many dishes were tasteless and overall, for the quality of the food, everything was entirely overpriced.
Excellent food great wine and friendly service. Amazing ambiance and decor would really recommend this restaurant very relaxed meal
We arrived at 4:30 to an empty restaurant and one waitress. It’s a weird time and time of year so not a problem that it’s quiet! The waitress serviced us with a festive menu for 3 courses and no a la carte with no explanation. When we asked for the a la carte we were told it’s not available but no reason why. It was a frustrating and baffling experience . The food was ok but over priced and it’s not an experience I’d repeat
It could be a great venue but is let down by an average wine list and very modest food.
I wrote to plum+spilt milk via email and fb! The food on Christmas day was standard for £120 per person I felt it should've been ALOT better. The table next to us didn't look happy with their food neither! And the service charge was ridiculous! The staff took my drink away without me realising which was still full took our Christmas crackers which had all the hats inside! When I asked if I could have my meat medium I was told no rare or well done for £120 we won't be back and wont be recommending to friends and family! If plum+split milk got back to me instead of ignoring me I wouldn't of left a review however they read my FB message and ignored me, dam right rude!
We had a wonderful Christmas Day, thank you so much. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the ambience was very special.
The Christmas menu was extremely disappointing. Tiny portions of luke warm and very mediocre food was not good value for money. And given the flippant response to feedback from the manager it didn’t seem that she cared. Fortunately the company was great and the waitress serving us was extremely helpful.
We met an old friend for lunch on Christmas Eve. The restaurant was quiet and the service was excellent. The good was good and we all had a great time.
Fantastic Beef Wellington at Plum and Spilt Milk. Third time I have had it and it is always perfection. Great lunch. Bravo.
Good food but a limited menu
Very nice location. Beautiful restaurant. Nice good quality food
Total disappointment. Service was terrible, waitress took ages to come, when we finally ordered she didn’t speak great English and didn’t know the menu at all, we had to point to each item on the menu and she copied it down. Food was average and had been prepared with minimum effort. The waiter at the end when we paid asked us what we thought of our meal and we listed some of our problems. He simply stood there in silence, handed over the credit card receipt and then left. Either he’d heard it before or couldn’t be bothered. This place masquerades as a decent restaurant - the interior decor is nice and the staff are dressed up - unfortunately the execution falls short. Prices are also over the top considering the quality of the food and the service. With so many decent restaurants around King’s Cross don’t waste your time here.
DO NOT EAT HERE. The service is appalling, the staff are rude and the food is completely lacking in flavour or substance. To make it worse, it’ll set you back £200 for three people with a single bottle of wine. Avoid.
Visited on a Monday afternoon on the way to a train
Great staff and fabulous food
Lovely setting and we will go back
Lovely starter of crab tart but a rather disappointing confit of duck, very dry. Dessert was good.
A beautiful hidden gem in kings cross. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance and staff were very friendly and attentive
We celebrated my sons 21st birthday here with Sunday roast. Three of our party had roast beef and one had the pork, we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. The baked hake and the steak also went down well. The service was excellent and my son recommends the signature pudding. We will definitely be back as the location is also very convenient.
This place is as always a great venue. First time for weekend brunch and very enjoyable. Food and service always good.
Quite simply terrible - this is in every possible respect a 'train-station' restaurant.
It was a really nice meal with really nice food. Do recommend the venison. Also, I really enjoyed the cocktails
A lovely dinner even though table was only available for 2 hours as it was being turned given time of year and only 4 in our party. Special request for location of table was accommodated more than amply. Food and wine prices were as to be expected for location but to those not used to London hotel restaurant prices there may be a feeling the total bill with wines may come out at the higher end of the range given that accompaniments are generally needed and charged for separately and may soon add up if you have a couple with your main course. But obviously that is purely a personal view. However food was of good quality and good portion size with waiting staff were very keen to check on and account for some personal food intolerances. We all enjoyed our meals and wines.
Feedback given on leaving around a minor disappointment relating to coffee availability in the Anthracite bar which was professionally dealt with and hopefully at least taken on board for considering further at a F&B / Restaurant manager level.
This is our second year using this venue for a pleasant friends dinner /get together before Christmas and we would definitely return. Thank you again.
Very poor food for the price. Service was slow and waiter had really bad breath! Lovely ambience and we enjoyed our evening but would not go back.
Service friendly but not really competent for a restaurant of this standard. Food was cold sadly. Nice welcome and good to have somewhere to move onto for an after meal coffee or drink
A huge thank you to the staff for helping me with a quiet table as I have a hearing problems. They really went to effort, changing things around and didn't make me feel bad about it, which has happened in other places. They were really good and the food as always we excellent.
